  1. Your comments are, obviously, a little discouraging, especially considering we're due to embark this coming Saturday, and we're flying in from Georgia for it! We have a booking for Alaska in September on the Discovery Princess and, for similar or even slightly less money, we were considering the Solstice. Following this and the other negative comments wer're seeing, I'm not encouraged to change the booking! We sailed on Oceania pre-covid on a greatly reduced priced trip to the Caribbean when they wanted to fill the ship after Cuba was removed from the schedule (and the DW's SiL booked). We found problems at nearly every meal with wrong food, poor food, lack of supplies and more. I'm not convinced they have the best cuisine at sea! What the cruising future holds for us, I don't know. I suspect this kind of thing is happening all over the cruise industry although the board for other lines do not appear to be as venomous is this one.
  2. No, the Oceanview Cafe is the main option for all up to veranda guests. You can go to the Mast Grill for a burger or hot dog. Concierge class gets the MDR, Aqua gets Blu and Suite guests get Luminae.
  3. Why not get a haircut on the ship? That’ll reduce the pressure!
  4. It’s illegal for anyone to charge more for an accessible room than an equivalent regular one. Updated Celebrity ships have a few nice features that some others don’t, like push-button doors and power outlets in the right place. We’ll be on the Celebrity Solstice next week (28th) and early September on the Discovery Princess. It’s our first time on Princess but had a great experience on the Celebrity Apex last year, first time ever with a rented scooter. I have my own now, so this trip should be interesting!
  5. Arrival time and disembark time can be very different. You have to wait until the ship is cleared by local authorities before you can get off the ship. This can be as little as 5-10 minutes to much more.
  6. I doubt it! That theme is exclusive to Princess and I’m sure that’s what ship was playing it. We heard it when the Apex left FLL last year.
  7. I have a tradition of wearing a Steelers shirt for embarkation. I then have new friends for the rest of the cruise! Remember, there are Steelers fans and there are those who are wrong 😉
  8. Cabo is a tendered port. Does anyone have experience of taking a travel scooter ashore? We have an excursion booked and it would help getting around. I can't walk very far!
  9. We'll be in Cabo in a couple weeks and it's a tender port. We'll be on the Celebrity Solstice. Is it possible to take a scooter ashore? It's a Pride travel scooter that comes apart if that makes a difference.
  10. This is my first Princess cruise, but on other lines, they have you meet in somewhere like the theater nd call your group for the tender at the same time. That way you're all together and waiting in (relative) comfort!
  11. I hope this question hasn't been asked a thousand times, but here goes. We're booked on our first Princess cruise (usually Celebrity cruisers) to Alaska on the Discovery in September. There are various options for jewelry or just plain holders for the medallion, but are there third party options we should look at? Am I wrong in my impression that they are the same size as AirTags? What about fancy jewelry? Is it worth getting something nice? TIA
  12. We're sailing on the 28th. I'd hate for us to be the guinea pigs!!! 'Just step off the ship and round that corner, sir. If no-one shoots you, we'll know it's safe!!!'
  13. There are some pretty graphic reports coming from Sinaloa following the raid and arrest of el Chappo's son. Can anyone confirm whether Solstice is still stopping in Mazatlan or if there are any warnings/ redirections, etc. in place? https://mx.usembassy.gov/alert-reports-of-violence-in-sinaloa/
  14. I saw a TV show that said ALL fish and seafood served on a cruise ship is frozen! Something to do with killing a deadly parasite.
  15. Calling the cruise line is unlikely to get you any more than being told to contact the TA involved. they will not interfere. I would contact the TA and insist on escalating your case up to CE Sure, it sound rough, but there is an element of personal responsibility here. I'm sure you were informed of final payment dates when you booked and all you had to do was mark your calendar!
  16. There are many answers to your question depending on all the missing information in your post. For example, what cruise did you book (date, ship)? If it's more than 90 days out, you can simply cancel and rebook. Are the perks the same at the new price? Did you book direct or through a TA? This is who you should call. The rules are different in th UK, but if they apply, you should certainly get at least OBC for the difference.
  17. Disagree. We're looking at a suite for Alaska in early September and the Discovery Princess is a similar price to the Celebrity Solstice (within a couple hundred dollars) for almost the same itinerary. The latter has better suite facilities like a butler, Luminae restaurant and exclusive lounge and comes with $950 in OBC instead of $50 on Princess! Also, Princess has ONE accessible suite, which is missing many features like automatic door and more. In fact, we booked the Discovery and are seriously considering cancelling and rebooking Celebrity. we're on the Solstice to the Mexican Riviera next month and will decide for certain after that.
  18. This time doesn't even give you time to see your psychiatrist before boarding the plane! You've just spent a week relaxing, so why undo it all with the stress of trying to make a flight you'll most likely miss??? Try looking at Miami if you really must fly earlier than 3:00pm, otherwise have breakfast, breathe and take your time!
  19. In what way is it different? Accessible staterooms are few and far between and 'it's all that was available' is NOT an acceptable excuse! The OP has clearly stated that there are cabins available, albeit not in the category they want, so that potentially means that someone who really needs it is SOL because an able-bodied person decided they wanted it instead. Selfish and ignorant. There are no other words.
  20. With Move Up, you keep the same perks as your original booking so no, you won't get them added. You only get the points for your first booking too. You may get some things like access to Blu and the thermal spa (or whatever it is that's included with Aqua), but you won't suddenly have a drinks package, wifi or tips.
  21. No it doesn't. However, if you're in a suite, your butler can fill it with soda, ome wines and beers with no additional cost (just remember to tip him!). Again, no. The Plus package was stopped some time ago and is no longer an option. I double-checked with our sailing on the Solstice next month.
  22. Yes, you get a version of ESPN relating to where you are in the world and the World Cup will be shown as well as some NFL games. Your daily sheet will tell you where it’s shown - as well as usually in your state room.
