  1. Both. The noticeable difference is a total of $200 refundable deposit on Princess and a non-refundable $500 on Celebrity. We'll wait until after out cruise on Solstice next month before deciding, but given that she's due to be 'revolutionized' in May, it's leaning that way.
  2. Only on Celebrity. We were on the Apex in an accessible Sky Suite in January and loved the experience.
  3. I'm looking at an Alaskan cruise out of Seattle in early September next year and the whole package prices and offerings are considerably better on Celebrity. Comparing a Penthouse Suite on Princess to a Sky Suite on Celebrity for almost identical dates and itinerary, the former would cost $7400 with $$425 OBC vs. $7300 with $1400 on the latter (through a TA) with today's offers. The latter also offers a butler, Luminae restaurant and a better looking overall experience. One advantage to Princess is the cost of the specialty restaurants with the main ones costing $30 compared to $60 plus gratuities for Murano on X. The OBC takes care of that, though. Celebrity has more accessible options with things like automatic doors (essential with a mobility scooter!), whereas Discovery Princess only appears to have ONE accessible suite on the whole ship! I admit that the Solstice is an older ship than Discovery, but we'll e on the former next month, so we can assess
  4. Thanks all for the (surprisingly) honest feedback. From what I’m seeing, Princess suites are fine for those who haven’t had the experience of other suite offerings. The Celebrity Solstice sails on the same day and has a similar itinerary, so I’m thinking I might just move the booking. We’ll wait until after our cruise next month to be sure, but I think I’m leaning that way.
  5. Yay! I just cancelled and rebooked our tour in Mazatlan next month and saved $12. Not a lot, but it was a cheap tour anyway and any saving is a good saving!
  6. Neither. You’ll find better prices on Amazon.
  7. Yes, we had an accessible Sky Suite on the Apex in January. We'll be in a similar class on the older Solstice next month.
  8. Discovery Princess out of Seattle. The Princess cruise is similar in price although there's only $50 in OBC whereas with Celebrity, it's $950, so that's a consideration. Discovery is much newer than the S-class ships, but Luminae, Michael's Club/The Retreat, butler service and soda/wine/beer in the fridge are attractive and, although neither of us drink a lot, the Premium package is unlimited and includes coffees and premium water. Maybe we should look at NCL before making a final decision, too!
  9. We're experienced cruisers with over 20 RCCL, NCL, X and (yuk) Carnival cruises under our belts. Wanted to try Princess, so we're going to Alaska in an S4 Penthouse Suite in September. I'm having difficulty in finding what's. included with the suite. Do we get priority embarkation/debarkation? What's included in the mini-bar setup? What else is included, if anything? We booked through a TA, so. no mention of this, but it appears we can dine in a specialty restaurant on the first night. is this true? Are there any suite-only perks that we should know about? There is a temptation to go with what we know and go back to Celebrity with its Retreat lounge and Luminae restaurant, so please help me know I've made the right decision. TIA.
  10. My bad. Saw the post but bit the room number! What are the power outlets near the bed? DW has a CPAP and would sleep on the right (window) side of the bed. do we need to request an extension cord?
  11. We're also booked in an accessible Sky Suite! We're in 2132 I think. is that the one you're in?
  12. We'll be on this cruise Jan 28th. First time on the West Coast and the Solstice (although we've been on the Equinox to the ABC islands and the Eclipse to Alaska). Following and looking forward to next month. I was in the hospital until Thursday with suspected sepsis and a mild heart attack, so I need a break!
  13. You can pretty much get any drink at any bar throughout the ship, with some specialty exceptions. If you have a specific preference that is not offered and you’re a regular at a particular bar, they will, if possible, get it for you.
  14. It depends on what ESPN feed the ship receives. When in the Caribbean, you'll see more cricket and football (soccer) and many NFL games that would not be on that network at home. This applies to other sports too. So, the answer to the OP's question is a firm 'maybe'!
  15. If the four-day cruise was part of the original booking, then it should be refunded. Talk to X.
  16. The moral of the story - don't buy anything of value from the shops on a ship! If you have non-refundable OBC to use up, then do so in the knowledge that if it breaks or goes wrong, throw it away and move on!
  17. We were in a Sky Suite on Apex in January and the butler kept us stocked with premium water (San Peligrino, Evian), caffeine free diet Coke and Sam Adams beer. We're not wine drinkers, but I believe we could have had some wines included too. I've seen on here where the butler will bring coffee, milk and even Bloody Marys if asked.
  18. That article is from 2018. Slightly out of date information, no?
  19. Not needed as ships have both 110 and 220/240 in each room. converter plugs are fine but I suspect you’d have a power inverter confiscated as even in a home, they’re a fire risk.
  20. Why do people insist on using phrases like ‘worrying trends’ when no such ‘trends’ exist? Why worry about something that is probably less likely to happen than being struck by lightning?
  21. There was a post the other day saying that suite guests can no longer use Blu!
  22. We enjoyed lunch there in January and, although the ship was only about 1/3rd full, it was completely empty apart from us. It was a nice day, so there was nothing stopping people eating there. Food was good, but if they can't pull more people in, I can't see it lasting long as the restaurants are profit-driven!
  23. You have access to Blu but can ear in the MDR(s) whenever you want. You shouldn’t need to reserve Blu.
  24. YouTube TV won’t work with a VPN. what’s ‘steaming’ video anyway? Porn?
  25. There are no price lists, but expect to pay at least the same as your local package store if not more. You’ll find plenty of multiple bottle discounts, but many will take you over the customs allowance. You’re mostly best to buy locally unless you have a bunch of non-refundable OBC you need to use up. Don’t forget that if you’re flying, the bottles must go in your checked baggage. Anything else will be confiscated by TSA.
