  1. Just a suggestion... before you go make sure your immune system is as robust as possible. Take lots of vitamin C, zinc and vitamin D starting at least a week or two before you leave. Take this throughout your cruise. I always take these (and many other suppliments for my immune system) no matter what on a daily basis and eat healthy until the minute I step on that ship. My father in law, who was 75 at the time, started to get sick on the second day of our cruise one year. I gave him lots of vitamin C and he was able to shake it in about a day. Things go around on ships all the time and there is always a chance of getting sick. You will probably survive but who wants to spend thousands of dollars to be sick for a week. It isn't 100% but you will definately lower your chances of getting ill while you are on vacation.
  2. I am not super concerned about food, but this trip is for our son and he is all about the food. In fact, he said that we didn't even have to go on excursions as long as we could eat all day. lol... So he wants to have Izumi at 5:30 (be there when they open so we are served as fast as possible), prefix or maybe just a couple of quick rolls and then go to dinner at Chops, Jamies, Hooked, etc. at 6:30. From there we go to Wonderland at 8:30 for dessert. Somewhere in there (probably lunch) we have to fit in Playmakers since they have Poke Nachos that he wants to try. I'm sure this will get old after a couple of nights but that is his plan. He's a teenager so I am coming out in the positive anytime there is all you can eat food.
  3. Sorry, I can be a little air-headed in the morning. 🙂 And the afternoon...
  4. There is a pre fix dinner that is $34.99 now and includes 1 small, 2 large and one dessert. That is within the $35.
  5. What is the best specialty restaurant/meals? I am trying to plan for our UDP and where to eat/what nights so I can make reservations as soon as I board. We looked at menus and it looks like Hooked is the favorite for us as far as food offerings, but I also want to try the others. Of course, we will have one Wonderland night because we have never been there. This is our first time with the UDP. We love seafood and steak. Everything else is just food. I love desserts. I am thinking Chops, Jamies and Wonderland once and Hooked the rest of the time? However, I haven't read great reviews for Hooked. Any advice? We are on Symphony.
  6. That would be great! We could order and eat on the balcony before dinner reservations. It would be nice if you could order other things to go from other restaurants like desserts that you liked that they do not serve anywhere else (like Wonderland). It seems like a waste of a table if you just want something small like a sushi roll or dessert.
  7. I sent an email to RC to get clarification. Whatever they say I will post here. And I will have it in writing.
  8. We experienced the "let down" moment in 2020. We surprised our son who was turning 14 with a cruise. We told him we were going to his grandfather's house in LA and when we got close to the port we pulled over. I had a wrapped box in the trunk and all of our clothes. We had him reach into the trunk from the backseat and get the box. He opened it and found out it was a cruise and was shocked to learn we were leaving right then! It was so awesome and I love watching that video of him so confused... and then we sat in the terminal starving (because we figured we would eat as soon as we boarded)... for 8 hours... and it was canceled. He will never forget that birthday!! lol As far as countdown, we didn't necessarily count down, but we did sit and go over dinner menus every night. We have boys and it is all about the food. That was so fun. I miss the days that they would cuddle up next to us and look at menus. Now it is still about the food, but not much cuddle time left in them.
  9. If I am understanding correctly, the UDP covers the fixed rate "meal" and anything beyond that is extra? I'm not sure. I really with RC was more clear on things.
  10. Okay, thank you. It said that I got $35 at Izumi last time I checked and now that is not listed anywhere on my screen. So you are saying that the $35 is in leiu of the fixed price $34.99 option? That works. Thank you!
  11. I have seen questions about if the $35 still applies to sushi in Izumi and I don't think that they have been answered clearly. When I purchased the UDP for an August cruise it stated $35 for Izumi (not hibachi, but just sushi) and now that is gone. It just says $20 for al la carte restaurants. Does this mean that it is now $20 for Izumi and not $35? I was looking to see if I had a receipt from my purchase that showed $35 but I don't see anything. If this has changed, it bothers me that they can just change things after you purchase them. Who is to say they don't change things right before you get on the ship? If you are not paying attenting you may be getting something other than what you paid for. At the very least, shouldn't they inform you with an email or something to let you know things have changed?
  12. Thank you. I found one that was printable online from May. I am guessing aside from movies and little changes it will be about the same.
  13. Could you also post the daily compass? That would be amazing!! Thank you!
  14. We will go to Wonderland one night but we are trying to plan every night ahead of time so that we can make the reservations when we get on the boat. My husband will not go for more than one night at Wonderland. It would only be my son and I for dessert. He only wants to eat on the ship. He doesn't care about any other entertainment or islands... just food.
  15. I was thinking of making reserations at one of the UDP restaurants and ending each night with a reservation at about 8:30 for Wonderland so we can have dessert there. Is that okay or are you limited to one reservation per night?
  16. So you are limited to one entree in the specialty restaurants? With boys, that is a deal breaker for us. When we eat in the main dining room they always order two entree and eat all of it, and three deserts. No food is wasted at our table! But if you are limited to one entree it may not be for us.
  17. Thank you! I will let her know. But I will still tell her to bring her birth certificate just in case. That would be horrible to show up and they won't let you on for some reason.
  18. I just realized that her daughter will be turning 16 before the cruise and won't have a driver's license! I am hoping she can get some sort of state id before they leave!
  19. Since her daughter doesn't have an ID except for the passport that will be expired, the birth certificate will be enough? It is a US to US cruise.
  20. A friend is going on a cruise with her daughter. She just realized that her 15 year daughter's passport expires in a couple of week and they cruise in about three weeks. Her passport does not expire until about three weeks after the cruise would be over. Will she be okay with bringing her daughter's birth certificate and passport as id? Would it matter if her passport is expiring soon after the cruise?
  21. If that is the case then all 150 quarantined were vaccinated and tested? So wny exactly are we required to jump through all these hoops if that is the case? My son can not be vaccinated and we can not cruise because of it. We would be cruising this summer if it were not for the vaccine. He has had covid and is not at risk of getting it again. If he does have a risk it is the same as every other vaccinated person so I really feel that the cruise lines need to accept recovery as a waiver. My friend had it in Jan 2020 and gives blood. He still has the antibodies according to the blood bank.
