  1. Very impressed - have to say your carry on looks nearly as big as my case but maybe it’s the angle in the photo. You may find London a little unsettled when you arrive tomorrow as, & you may have heard, we are all awaiting news of the Queen who we believe is very ill. Hope it doesn’t blight your time in London. Safe travels.
  2. Thanks Kathleen I’ll be really interested to find out about your next foray at the Restaurant. It’s interesting that you’re definitely not alone in praising the WC - we may have to be open minded about it & give it a go.
  3. Are you planning on giving the Restaurant another try or are you more content with WC? Really interested as it will probably be our main dining venue as we’re not usually that keen on buffets.
  4. Thanks everyone for info. Best best is to book as soon as I get onboard I think 👍
  5. Thanks for this - I’ve checked out the thread above now. I want gel nail manicure & I know it will be more expensive that what I would normally pay at home but, taking into consideration the amount of the whole cruise/holiday, it’ll be a drop in the ocean😂 I just thought someone may have had a price list for the salon treatments.
  6. Hello - we are going on our first Viking cruise in just under 3 weeks and I’m interested if anyone has any details/prices of salon services which I can’t find on MVJ. Website only seems to detail massages, facials etc. I’m particularly interested in manicures/pedicures etc. Also, would it be fairly easy to book once on board or are they usually fully booked.
  7. Oh dear - we are also going to be 1st timers on Viking in 3 weeks & our expectations are very high - primarily based on what we’ve read on these boards and the fact that this is the most we’ve paid for a cruise, so I’ve got everything crossed for you (and ourselves) that certain aspects of the cruise improve 🤞🤞
  8. I think the worst part of the Restaurant review is the fact For us this would be the worst part of poor service in a restaurant - by the time you wait for someone’s misplaced meal to turn up your meal is cold and, cold or barely warm food is my pet gripe. I agree with you TayanaLorna that I don’t mind taking my time over a meal, as long as we all get it at the same time.
  9. That doesn’t sound too good - did you mention your issues with e.g. Maitre d? Hopefully just start of cruise teething problems.
  10. I’m unable to see a sample menu for the Chefs Table on MVJ & we are going in 4 weeks! There is a sample menu for the Restaurant however if you go into ‘Learn More’.
  11. Yes we do now - we were a lot younger then, saved up hard all year for 2 weeks in Greece/Spain but your preferences and happily circumstances change as you get older.
  12. I remember going to Knossos many years ago whilst on holiday in Crete - my overriding memories are of incredible heat (this was beginning of July) with no shade and the phrase ‘Original Reproductions’ kept cropping up during the tour guides spiel! Personally wouldn’t do it again but, in cooler months it may be better.
  13. Wow, these are the kind of reports/feedback I like👍 We are going on our first Viking cruise in just over a month and the more I read, the more excited I’m becoming. Bring it on.
  14. You probably got a good deal then - yes, York is a lovely city, as is Durham on a smaller scale 👍
  15. This all sound really promising - we are going on our first Viking cruise on 27th September - Trade Routes of the Middle Ages on Viking Mars & are feeling very excited about it. We’ve cruised quite a lot on various other lines but this will be the most we’ve ever paid and have high expectations 🤞🤞
  16. Hi Jim - not sure if the pub landlord has scammed you or was just ignorant of the fact but Scottish currency is legal in England, granted he may not see a lot but it’s still legal tender. Actually thinking about it, if you were in London you may have got a good deal as the pint down there may have cost more than a fiver 😂😂 We live in the North of England so probably see more of it as we’re only 60 or so miles for Scottish Border.
