  1. >>>I will say this about Princess' website.  For all of its shortcomings (and yes they are plenty), I've always loved the user interface from the first time I signed in. <<<

Agreed...I have an NCL cruise booked coming up.  I was trying to look at their excursions for each port.  It really made me miss the "Princess way" of giving you everything you need to know regarding that excursion, such as the length of time you will be on a bus and how long at each stop.  NCL doesn't seem to give any of that unless it is included in the verbiage.  That's why Princess is our "go to" line.

You need to each order. If one person orders 2 drinks on the app you will be charged for the second…as I found out to my cost. So we always ordered one on the tv under one name and one on the app under the other name. DH didn’t have a smart phone!!

We've been on 3 ships since the restart; this was not the case on any of them.

However, for an upcoming cruise we could still use the purchased tests (expire 11/22) or now easily have a free rapid test locally.

Conflicted on holding onto the home tests - and wasting the money spent - if testing in the future is not needed.  On the other hand, the local testing is free and we do have a few more cruises lined up before the home test expiration dates.

Well, it depends on whether you think you may have further cruises before the expiration date.  If not...I think I would go ahead and use the Abbott tests; it's "free" in that you have already paid for them and at least you'll have the feeling that they weren't wasted.

Although I must say that the old guy I saw last week on the Majestic at the Concerto Dining Room really takes the cake, he was wearing what looked like Depends, a PJ top and suspenders holding everything together!

This is one of those situations where you *really* should have snapped a pic! 😄

  5. Well, on my first (and only) NCL air promo we got stuck with a 55 minute connection in Paris (CDG).  Nobody would talk to me because everyone said it was a "valid" connection...therefore NCL accepted it as good.  We ended up spending the night in Paris (on NCL's dime) WITHOUT our luggage.  Yes, those rates look EXTREMELY good, but I'll book my own flights from now on, thank you.

That was the trip that we decided we would never leave home again without a "go" bag!

  6. This will not be of any help for you now...but we did a full transit just immediately before everything crashed to a stop in January 2020.  It was on the Pacific Princess.  Sadly, Princess chose to sell that ship.  That was the first time we had sailed on her and we had decided that this was to be our favorite ship in the Princess line.  Oh well...I guess we could always go and try Azamara.

  7. It really depends on what your expectation of an "outdoor table area" is...if you mean an extension of one of the regular restaurants then no, as far as I know no actual restaurant has outdoor seating.  On the Lido deck of course there are "snack bar" type eating counters and plenty of tables but I don't consider that "restaurant eating"! 😄

  8. If you are unlike most people who are "glued" to their phones all day long...then *no*, you don't need a package.  If you do have a phone you can connect to the ship's "internal" wifi system to access all of the activity schedules and such...or you can even bypass that by simply reviewing the daily "Patter".  As far as watching movies in the room...you don't need the internet for that at all.  The ship has a fairy extensive online/on demand movie library, though they are somewhat dated.  There's not a lot of really current movies but you're bound to find *something* you'll like if the movie mood hits you.

  9. Once you actually get on board there is next to nothing that *must* be done with the app.  Since you say he is "showing green" then you apparently have dotted all the "Is" and crossed all the "Ts" as far as he is concerned.  He of course, will get his own physical medallion on board to open the cabin door and order items as needed.

Regarding #2 above...Quite a bit of info does NOT carry over from cruise to cruise. (Shame on you Princess!)  So, you end up having to repeat a lot of stuff on subsequent cruises.

  10. I have an upcoming cruise that sails from Rome and ends up in Venice (Trieste).  Of course, I'll be flying into Rome.  How do I fill out the PLF?  You have to choose "Aircraft" or "Cruise Ship".  I assume they initially want to know about us flying in...but do I need to do more?  Do I need to fill out 2 forms?

My husband is gold level like myself, but they listed him as new (first time).  I saw no where to put the number in for him when booking online.  Mine came up automatically.  I called NCL and they said too late, I should have booked over the phone instead of online.  They can't add it to the reservation!  They just automatically gave him a new newbie number.  But now, he will miss out on the perks of gold.  Makes no sense to me.  It is a last minute cruise (8 days out) and edocs are ready.  But it still seems odd.  Anybody know if this sounds legit or should I ask for a supervisor.  I don't have a specific travel planner at NCL.

Sounds like the person you spoke with "couldn't be bothered"!

If my home country requires proof of a negative COVID-19 test result for re-entry following my cruise, will Princess administer and cover the cost of the test?

Yes, if a negative COVID-19 test is required for re-entry into your home country, Princess will cover the costs of a COVID-19 test administered within the timeframe required prior to travel.

Guests should disembark the ship, collect their luggage, clear customs and exit the terminal for testing. COVID-19 tests will be administered just outside the terminal. Antigen test results will be available in approximately 30 minutes and PCR test results will be available in approximately 60 minutes; please plan your post-cruise travel arrangements accordingly.

Guests are encouraged to review their home country’s health authority and travel websites to understand the latest guidance on required testing and timing for return travel.

If guests would prefer to have the required test completed while still onboard, Princess has partnered with Optum so that U.S.-based vaccinated guests can order an FDA-authorized at-home antigen test kit, shipped to your door in 3 business days or less, before traveling to the ship. Using MedallionNet onboard, these at-home tests include a personal virtually video-supervised visit with an eMed Certified Guide through telehealth services. These guides will help you properly administer the test while onboard and verify the results, within 15 minutes. The lab result report is delivered via email and can be printed or displayed on your mobile device during check-in. Please place your order with enough time to be shipped prior to your boarding. Order your test kit online.

You usually get the $100 deposit & the accosted OBC the same as if you were booking with FCDs.
