  1. Anyone with experience cruising over Thanksgiving, can you tell me if it’s only in the main dining room or the Windjammer that you can get a “traditional“ Thanksgiving dinner? Or do other extra pay establishments have them? We would love to eat in coastal kitchen that night as we are planning on several other nights, but the menu on the app does not show anything remotely resembling a Thanksgiving dinner in CK for that particular day. Thanks for the feedback.
  2. I think ours was 5:30 and we ate there when we felt like it. Coastal was nice and we went to Wonderland one night- too much food and over-rated.
  3. You don’t HAVE to eat in coastal kitchen. Last year we ate there a few times and in MDR a few. It was fine.
  4. On odyssey there is one casita near the kiddie zone. You better get to the pool bar at the crack of dawn to get that one though. You can reserve and pay for a casita in advance but they don’t assign them. You have to go to the pool bar where a Guy comes out at exactly 8:30 and you stand around the bar telling him which one you want. People get there super early to be first in line. The casitas are spread out over two decks. The ones on the upper deck above the pool get so much sun and there’s no real way to shade yourself from one direction or the other. The ones on the lower deck get a lot of sun but a couple have better shade.
  5. Got my Royal up bid approved six months before sailing. Each broom closet comes with a personal janitor who has keys to every secret passageway on the ship
  6. I would say it’s rampant here on CC
  7. Our first Royal experience was on Liberty out of Galveston. Since we had no previous experience with Royal we had nothing to compare it to. We LOVED it! We had cabin 8500 which to date is the best room we have ever had on a cruise. Two separate bedrooms plus a huge living room. Only one bath but there are just three of us and it worked. The shower was a little small but the room was so comfortable. We really enjoyed everything on the ship and would definitely go back if we could get the same room. Not a fan of western Caribbean itinerary and unlikely we would do that route again. All and all a great experience.
  8. Gratuities are optional in apex class.
  9. Ah. My status is Apex. We wear tiaras and sashes over our swimsuits.
  10. Hello. Excited to be onboard in a few short weeks. I hope to enjoy all the benefits of my broomcloset category including free pizza from sorrentos, free coffee from cafe promenade, all I can eat buffet during my intermittent fasting eating window, and most especially open hot tubs at 6:30 am. Anyone have suggestions as to how many suitcases I should bring? But seriously folks. Why do people do this??? It’s so cringey….see ya all at sea!!!!
  11. Just go to the pool and the beach. The water park is not worth it. The pool is HUGE and the wave pool is also great and you don’t have to pay for it.
  12. We rented Casitas on Odyssey last year on our B2Bover Christmas and New Year’s. The first thing to keep in mind is they are not assigned until the morning of your Casita rental. That means you have to get up to the bar above tge pool deck and wait for the guy to come out at 9:00 and take your name and assign your Casita. People are pretty brutal about getting there super early to make sure they have first choice. Some of of the Casitas are located in decent proximity to the pool but two of them are near the smoking section so you might wanna avoid those if you don’t smoke. All of The others are on an upper deck looking down over the pool. You are rarely shaded from the sun in one direction or the other. After about two hours we gave up and went to the solarium is much more comfortable and less roasting. I think the casitas are not worth the money. They look like they would be, but in the end, unless you’re in one of the two that are right next to the pool on the good side, They really aren’t worth the money (IMHO of course)
  13. To simplify: we did this with my 15 year old daughter. When we got on we just let her stay in the room and my husband and I stayed in our room. We were right next door. She had her own room key and the cabin steward certainly didn’t care that we switched.
  14. I don’t think they would just let you carry your bags off in Portland without telling them you were just leaving.
  15. There is little difference between a JS and An OV balcony. A bathtub, maybe a few more square feet, but the benefits are hardly better than a standard ov. If you want to try for a royal up, bud for a grand suite or higher.
