@Paul Bogle It looks like there is a Greek cruise in my future.
-
I am booking on the Norwegian Getaway for a 2020 Greek cruise.
My cabin is 13210. When I look at the deck plan it shows that the Splash Academy is right across the corridor. It is not obvious from the plans whether the academy is an open area or whether it is behind walls.
I am not a curmudgeon, but I don't wish to hear little kids playing all the time. Will noise be a problem in this cabin?
Thank
Steven

Thanks @Nola26, good info.

According to the website it is $50 per port. Below is the quote from www.ncl.com
"Dogsledding in Alaska? Sure. How about snorkeling in Belize? You got it. Or mamboing the night away in Havana? That too. Explore more of the shore with a Free $50 Shore Excursion Credit per port. You save up to $200."

I am investigating a Norwegian Epic cruise out of San Juan. There is the Free at Sea promotion that gives $50 per port. This is an 11 day cruise that stops at 10 ports.
The promo says that this is worth up to $200 but my cypherin' says that this should be $500.
Which is it?

I am new to NCL. How large is the laundry bag?

Thank you for the info! Did you sign up before sailing or did they have availability to sign up on the ship?
I signed up for it using the Cruise Planner beforehand. From talking to the other couples on the escape I believe that there were still slots to sign up for onboard.

Hi Chris,
I took my first cruise in November, and I loved it. One of the things I liked was the pampering of me by all of the crew members that I interacted with.
On embarkation day, my cabin steward gave me a card with his phone number on it. I was hesitant to call him late in the evening, fearing that I would bother him on his time off. Does this phone number redirect to someone else on his off hours or does his phone ring even if he is off?

DW and I did the escape room on Mariner in November. It was a lot of fun and we felt it was worth the $20 pp. Mariner has just one room, all the clues are there (apparently it is where the chapel used to be). There were 10 people trying to solve the escape and we knew none of the other people beforehand.
We solved the 50 minute escape with 29 seconds to spare. 🙂

I signed DW and myself for a tour on Adventure of the Seas recently. I was mainly interested in the Bridge and had very little interest in the Galley and Engine Room. They had a window into the bridge so passengers could view (for free). The blinds were closed most of the time but open when I watched as they pulled out of port one day. They had displays showing the stations and a brief write-up on each. I canceled the $89 (each) tours.
The peek-a-boo bridge was interesting on the Mariner also. But it was very interesting actually being on the bridge and asking questions and looking around close-up. The engine control room was also interesting. Was it worth $89. Probably, but once was enough. I wouldn't do it again.

I did the all access tour on the Mariner in this last November. We went in the galley, cold storage, engine control room, laundry, environmental control area, and the bridge. We spent about 20 minute on the bridge and the officer in command answered any and all question that we asked. It was very informative and I enjoyed it, but I would only do it once. It cost $89.

Just hand the cup to a random stranger on board.

I would suggest that you stay in the Clear Lake area. Much nicer neighborhood than around Hobby airport. There is also the Johnson Space Center to visit if you have the time.

@buchhalm Getting back on the tour bus is under my control. If I get left because of that, then it's my own stupid fault. I was more concerned about traffic, etc that would cause me to get left.

@CruiseGal 99 While I am not a seasoned cruiser, with only one under my belt, I am going to use my passport and drivers license for travel documents. That worked fine last time out of Miami. I was mainly worried about what to carry on a RC shore excursion, which will be
- Leave the passport in the safe in the cabin
- Keep a photo and a hardcopy of the main passport page on my person
- Keep the contact information of the port agent (if I can find it) on my person

My DW and I were on Mariner OTS earlier in November. She would just walk up to the chef behind the counter at the pancake station and ask for gluten free. He would cook her some GF pancakes on the spot. She had the freshest pancakes in the place and she said they were delicious.

Is this on Allure? Curious... is Allure, Harmony more expensive than other ships? Just checked Grandeur for
On Liberty. May 5, the surf and stream is $9.99 (was $11.99, gotta cancel and reorder now).

On Mariner, Nov 12-16, I got the code on a piece of paper in my cabin.

@LuckyStar Yea, I think that's what I going to do.
- Leave the passport in the safe in the cabin
- Keep a photo and a hardcopy of the important passport page on my person
- Keep the contact information of the port agent (if I can find it) on my person
I think all my bases will be covered then.

Thanks, everyone. Lots of good suggestions. I know that they are "supposed" to wait, but will they really do it? Apparently, they will. That's good to know.

@lifes-a-beachThanks for reminding me. I did that for my Bahamas trip but I forgot about it. Now I have done it for my upcoming cruise.

Am am going to Cozumel in May and taking a rather long excursion that is booked through the cruise line. It should return to the ship about 1/2 hour before sailing. Since I am worried about being left (even though the cruise line says they will not) I plan on bring a copy of my US passport with me. My question is, do I need to bring the actual passport or is a copy good enough? I hate to carry such a valuable thing with me if I do not need to. I have heard people suggest that a copy of the passport should be brought.
Is a copy of the passport good enough to get me on a airplane to catch up with the ship in case I get left?

Mariner's solarium is covered around the sides where most of the lounge chairs and cabanas are. The center, the pool area, is open to the heavens.

My wife and I just did it last week on Mariner. We were just 2 of 10 people in the room. It cost $20 each.
BTW, I am proud to say we solved it with just 29 seconds (out of 50 minutes) to spare.

Is bottled water available at the bars on NCL is it included in UBP
in Norwegian Cruise Line

I read the UBP T&C. The wording is weird when it mentions draft or bottled beer. Is beer included in the UBP?
