  1. Exactly. Both of these ships for Carnival were on order before 2020. Venezia is just being transferred from the original cruise line. After these two and in the coming years, Carnival will be well behind the others in terms of new ships. New ships continue to create excitement. RC charges a huge price for it's new ships and apparently it can, as they book up fast.
  2. Same with us. We are also very particular about the rooms we choose, so that would have been upsetting to us as well. We were considering booking a cruise in November, but ended up planning something else because we couldn't find a room we liked. Hopefully your room will work out good.
  3. That's about the only reason I would buy it. I'm wondering how low it will go this time. I sold earlier this year, but will probably buy again in the next few months. It shocked me when it fell below $7 last fall. Not sure if it will do that again, but I certainly would be surprised this time if it did the way so many stocks are trending downward.
  4. Follow up for anyone who may see this thread in the future: Just like others said, I received my refunds in different ways. Internet: Part of it was paid with gift card (about $68) and part with credit card. About a week after I cancelled I received a FedEx envelope with the gift card refund. About the same time the credit card refund showed up on my card. Cruise Itself: Again I had paid part with credit card (the original deposit amount). I received the refund for it in about a week on my card. The rest was paid on gift cards. In this case I received an email about a week later with a link to an electronic gift card. It originally went to my junk mail and was almost deleted. I'm glad I caught it before that happened because it was a sizeable amount. I'm still baffled that they sent one refund (the $68 one) by FedEx in a regular gift card and the other one (the larger one that was over $500) by email. It would have seemed to make more sense if these were reversed, but that's the way they did it.
  5. I recently cancelled internet on an April cruise that was about to be cancelled as well. Part of it was paid with onboard credit, which was credited back immediately. The rest of it was paid with a remaining gift card and $38 on a credit card. I never received an email, but about a week after I cancelled I received a FedEx envelope with the gift card refund and about the same time I received the credit on my credit card.
  6. Wish N.O. would get some different itineraries as well. It is the only port to which we drive. We like these 9 day itineraries out of Galveston, but with the extra day for flight and such, we probably won't be able to do them anytime soon.
  7. There are cruise lines out there that have the smaller ships where you can get that type of experience, but not Carnival. Just expect to pay much higher prices.
  8. I did it last year for three cruises at once (September 2022, January 2023 and April 2023.) All three were approved within a couple of weeks. It was over three months from even the first one.
  9. We were on Valor last month and checked in all five nights at 5:20 and our table was ready every night when the dining room opened at 5:30. We always check in as soon as it becomes available on the app and have never had to wait on a table that we can recall.
  10. Really wasn't that bad last year. A lot of that is because they offer the different options for dining other than just the dining room.
  11. We love YTD! We typically go as soon as the dining room opens. We were also on Valor last month and going early wasn't any problem for us. Keep in mind that check in on the app starts about 10 minutes or so before the actual start of dining, which is listed as 5:30 on most ships, so check in starts about 5:20. If you check in then, you should have a table ready as soon as the dining room opens. We've done that on several cruises since they started using the app and we've never had to wait on a table when we checked in like that. On Mardi Gras last year, the dining room opened 30 minutes earlier (5:00) on the first elegant night than the other six nights. Also, on Mardi Gras with YTD you have the option to dine in the dining room, Cucina del Capitano, Chibang, and Pig and Anchor. For Pig and Anchor you just show up, but you check in on the app for the others.
  12. Good deal. That's what I needed to know. As long as they send me the last four numbers, I'm good. I have access to all the digital cards. I'm just not sure which ones I used this time.
  13. Thanks for all the responses! My concern was trying to go back and find which cards I used for which purchase. Since I'm starting to use the 10% off cards more, I'm now keeping up with it better, but in this case, I wasn't sure which ones I had used.
  14. For those who have cancelled a cruise where they used a gift card: When you cancel a cruise or excursion is the refunded amount put on the original gift card(s) or do they issue a new one? If it is the original one, do they give you the last four digits or anything to let you know what card is was? Thanks!
  15. If the cruise is in 20 days, they would be in the 75% phase, not 100%. It would be 75% of the cruise fare or the full deposit amount, which is typically $500. From 29 to15 days prior to sailing, the penalty is 75% of the total fare or the standard deposit amount, whichever is greater.
  16. We were on both last year and would pick Mardi Gras without a question. Included food options are so much better than Vista. Loved Shaq's Big Chicken. We ate there twice and would have went back again. The entertainment on the Mardi Gras is also so much better. Mardi Gras' center stage shows were perhaps the best shows we've ever seen in over 20 cruises. There were over 50 comedy shows during a seven day cruise in two different venues (one for family friendly and others in the punchliner), including more family friendly shows than on any other ship. We also loved the extended balcony we had on the Mardi Gras. It had loungers and we spent most of our day on the balcony relaxing. Can't think of anything that was better on the Vista than the Mardi Gras, not that we had a bad cruise on Vista, we thoroughly enjoyed it. But, when comparing the two, we would pick Mardi Gras any day.
  17. They shouldn't expect much. It's not really very good.
  18. I'm curious. Was the PVP able to get your taxes and port fees refunded with you using two rooms for two people?
  19. I just did a check on a 6 day Magic cruise for next September. It was a $100 deposit ($50 pp).
  20. Sorry, I should have thought about that. I assumed you already were platinum. To be honest, I don't know that I even have any of the gold pins. Forgot about even getting those.
  21. Yes, I remember the generic pins they used. We got one of those on Sunrise in September of 21. But, I'm pretty sure that all of ours from last year were ship specific, including Valor in Jan 2022 and Vista back in September. I can't remember for sure on Mardi Gras, but I have pictures in my phone of Valor 2022 and Vista 2022.
  22. I don't think John ever called it luggage. He just used the words set, or collection. Luggage is just what the original poster used.
