  1. Not sure why the Hawaii pictures posted in a weird manner and wasted a good half of this page. Will try to repost one of them (Maui sunset) below using a different method. If this does not work, I will return to just enjoying the great photos you all share.
  2. More than our beloved Silversea, but not all that many really. I'd estimate a dozen, and of those, a couple were babies. Saw none in the specialty restaurants and did not notice any in the main dining rooms. One kid/parent incident all but ruined a breakfast visit to the Aloha buffet. NCL is the only cruise line that island hops within Hawaii; we visited 4 islands, 3 of which we might never have seen otherwise. The ship is USA flagged; I think it is the only ocean liner that is, & it seemed fine - cabin steward was good, ship was very clean, etc. Port talks and culture talks were also very good.
  3. Just returned from a fun Hawaii trip, stayed in hotels + did an island-hopping cruise with NCL. Not my new favorite cruise line...but not horrible either - some great meals and wonderful people. We flew Delta One which was also good, even a memorable crab cake meal which I can recommend to you (if you like crab cakes!) Some pictures: sunset through the mountains The Pride of America ship from the shore. Can't say I understand all the ins and outs, but the ship is USA flagged and mostly USA crewed due to some law. Fireworks over the water from our hotel suite in Honolulu. Glad to be back on the cooler. If you've ever been frustrated with Silversea internet, you "ain't seen nothing" till you've been on this particular cruise.
  4. Thanks for the pictures, would love to have joined you & Myster. Was there a standout among what you tasted?
  5. maybe its time to understand Samoa sad to admit I don't understand that part of our country
  6. And then they write a review critical of the crowds in the gangway! I've been annoyed by posts on social media that include SMH (shaking my head) but here I am, SMH. Sorry, but no matter how much you've paid or feel entitled to, "you can't always get what you want." (can you believe the stones are still on tour?)
  7. Well I hope its great. When my father served in the Pacific during WW2, there was a ceremony when the sailors crossed the equator for the first time. A single photograph documents this day in his history, and its the only one that we ever had that showed dad could act a little "wild and crazy"
  8. Let us know how they are please. We've been enjoying Uruguayan Tanat, as one of the bottle's labels states, always looking for data...
  9. Had to look this up, it looks delicious! I wasn't hungry till I started reading through the above - may need an early lunch
  10. Enjoying this thread, wife and I heading out for a first time visit to Hawaii on the first of February. I'd promise pix but we all have to live with our own limitations 😏 Thought it might be appropriate to share with you a youtube with a Hawaiian song, as always offered with a glass of "waina"
  11. I've always felt as a VIP on our Silversea cruises, but had never heard of this.
  12. On a bit of a serious note But maybe just encouragement for cooler denizens so wanted to pass on to you... The spacing got degraded by my cut and paste, just punctuate and separate as you choose. from Pablo Neruda (Chilean poet): You start dying slowly ; if you do not travel, if you do not read, If you do not listen to the sounds of life, If you do not appreciate yourself. You start dying slowly : When you kill your self-esteem, When you do not let others help you. You start dying slowly ; If you become a slave of your habits, Walking everyday on the same paths… If you do not change your routine, If you do not wear different colours Or you do not speak to those you don’t know. You start dying slowly.
  13. TTS, your embarrassment was the fault of the man at the desk. Daveywavey, the photos & comments have been glorious fun. Good to know that I'm not the only one to have been stumped by how the lights work in a hotel room. Ruined a potential romantic evening in my distant past
  14. Hi @chrismakris and welcome to Silversea. I agree with the above posts. I suggest you bring (or wear to your departure port) a sport coat, nice pants and button down oxford type shirt, & you'll be set. One thing we like are the on-board, free, washers and dryers. My wife and I have both found the food great. If you would like a soft drink or wine bottle (or beer or liquor) stocked in your fridge (or some combination), just tell the butler when he or she introduce themselves & it will be continuously restocked.
  15. Loved them all Davey but the sunrise over Uluru beckons...
  16. Off you go into the other half of the world! (from the perspective of an East Coast all my life North American). Bon Voyage and safe travels Mysty!
  17. Just blame me Mysty 🙂 our next Silversea cruise in April, your posts making that feel so far away
  18. Love this spot, because of all of you. Glad to see @Daveywavey70 is back. Please don't close the door but feeling quite complete & happy heading into 2024. Wine cellar is behind the apothecary if I remember right. The pictures from France are a delight JP!
  19. Best wishes for the holidays! I hope everyone's holidays have been happy and whatever you wished for. [never end a sentence with a preposition - why not?] New Years just ahead, may need to head back to Total Wine...
  20. I wanted to yell Marco! a few posts back - too much time with the grand kids i suppose
