  1. Well I hope its great. When my father served in the Pacific during WW2, there was a ceremony when the sailors crossed the equator for the first time. A single photograph documents this day in his history, and its the only one that we ever had that showed dad could act a little "wild and crazy"
  2. Let us know how they are please. We've been enjoying Uruguayan Tanat, as one of the bottle's labels states, always looking for data...
  3. Had to look this up, it looks delicious! I wasn't hungry till I started reading through the above - may need an early lunch
  4. Enjoying this thread, wife and I heading out for a first time visit to Hawaii on the first of February. I'd promise pix but we all have to live with our own limitations 😏 Thought it might be appropriate to share with you a youtube with a Hawaiian song, as always offered with a glass of "waina"
  5. I've always felt as a VIP on our Silversea cruises, but had never heard of this.
  6. On a bit of a serious note But maybe just encouragement for cooler denizens so wanted to pass on to you... The spacing got degraded by my cut and paste, just punctuate and separate as you choose. from Pablo Neruda (Chilean poet): You start dying slowly ; if you do not travel, if you do not read, If you do not listen to the sounds of life, If you do not appreciate yourself. You start dying slowly : When you kill your self-esteem, When you do not let others help you. You start dying slowly ; If you become a slave of your habits, Walking everyday on the same paths… If you do not change your routine, If you do not wear different colours Or you do not speak to those you don’t know. You start dying slowly.
  7. TTS, your embarrassment was the fault of the man at the desk. Daveywavey, the photos & comments have been glorious fun. Good to know that I'm not the only one to have been stumped by how the lights work in a hotel room. Ruined a potential romantic evening in my distant past
  8. Hi @chrismakris and welcome to Silversea. I agree with the above posts. I suggest you bring (or wear to your departure port) a sport coat, nice pants and button down oxford type shirt, & you'll be set. One thing we like are the on-board, free, washers and dryers. My wife and I have both found the food great. If you would like a soft drink or wine bottle (or beer or liquor) stocked in your fridge (or some combination), just tell the butler when he or she introduce themselves & it will be continuously restocked.
  9. Loved them all Davey but the sunrise over Uluru beckons...
  10. Off you go into the other half of the world! (from the perspective of an East Coast all my life North American). Bon Voyage and safe travels Mysty!
  11. Just blame me Mysty 🙂 our next Silversea cruise in April, your posts making that feel so far away
  12. Love this spot, because of all of you. Glad to see @Daveywavey70 is back. Please don't close the door but feeling quite complete & happy heading into 2024. Wine cellar is behind the apothecary if I remember right. The pictures from France are a delight JP!
  13. Best wishes for the holidays! I hope everyone's holidays have been happy and whatever you wished for. [never end a sentence with a preposition - why not?] New Years just ahead, may need to head back to Total Wine...
  14. I wanted to yell Marco! a few posts back - too much time with the grand kids i suppose
  15. Merry Christmas to you and your husband @Lvshack & Happy New Year to all. Welcome to Silversea @westmount , I'm glad you are enjoying your first cruise on our prefrerred CL, and BTW I've found my experience the same as yours regarding dress code. My mom (now departed) always said gray pants, nice shirt, and a navy sport coat will work anywhere.
  16. Spins, that was laugh out loud funny! Photo below is granddaughter at the pool of our hotel while visiting the Midwest this past November. Note to self: always select a hotel with an indoor pool when visiting grandchildren, nieces & nephews etc, Cost as a consideration a distant 2nd.
  17. Give yourself time Lois. We all wish you the best. I do hope you'll feel better soon. In the meantime, don't be like me and this lady: credit: History for the witty 2.0
