Hello everyone.  I will be on the Apex in a few weeks. Does anyone know if they have a white night party on deck during 7n8ght sailing?  Does Celebrity do anything special for valentine ♥ ? Thank you all in advance.

I don't believe that Celebrity does white night partys

    Hi Everyone,

In the past, there have been passenger choirs on trips that were longer with many sea days and  rehearsals were part of the entertainment program. We were lucky to have the music director Simon take this on. When the a capella groups were popular, one group even coordinated the choreography to Salve Regina from Sister Act. The entertainment staff have also organized this activity as well.

Does anyone know if these have started up again or have been discontinued?

They had this on my Edge TA in Oct/Nov

But if you choose to book a non-refundable fare, hopefully you know those details going into the game instead of being shocked that the fare all of a sudden is non-refundable.

Hopefully absolutely, but unfortunately many don't bother to read everything BEFORE making their deposit, they just complain after

100% agree, I touched on NCL following Virgin in an earlier post with replacing the self-serve buffet with a made to order "food hall".  However, I have no idea what X is doing with food as they continue to downgrade the quality and selection including at the buffet.  I've suggested many times on here why not serve the MDR menu at the buffet, all the items already plated?  You would have to imagine that requires less labor than eating in the MDR

With all that being said @LMaxwell states X is revamping the dining experience but won't share the details

@LMaxwell states X is revamping the dining experience but won't share the details.  Well until then and while we all wait with baited breath for him/her to share said details, we will all just speculate until the facts (as only he/she can present) are shared with CC as we all wait on pins and needles

We have some family that aren't on CC looking at move up bids for their cruises and oddly are seeing opportunities to bid on categories that are showing as sold out. To top it off some of those are even being listed as a 30% discounted bid price.

So are they still holding back rooms so that they don't sail at 100% capacity or are they letting people bid on rooms that aren't available? It does seem like the highest category available though is Aqua class which is showing as sold out.

It's called hedging your bets and they definitely sent you to the right place, you're sure to get a consistent answer here on CC

There's a lot of disingenuity from X.  Just a few examples...You can have a steak in the MDR every night, but does it taste good?  They sell a pre-owned rolex but you can't have it serviced at a rolex dealer.  They make it appear they're selling new handbags but they're pre-owned

I think they start by totally revamping the buffet, AKA as get rid of it altogether.  Personally I think buffets are just individual germ stations.  Gut the vast amount of space they commit to the buffet and replace with with higher end, cooked to order food kiosks, replace the tacky hospital cafeteria style furniture they currently have there, honestly IMO, there is just nothing aesthetically appealing in the buffet.  Four or five food kiosks offering vegan, meat, seafood, Indian, Asian etc.  I'm not a big NCL fan but the videos I have seen where they implemented something similiar on one of their new ships is FAR more appealing.  Just redesign the entire area so it becomes a place one wnats to spend time in enjoying a real meal.  Other lines do it, Celebrity can as well, assuming they really are aiming to compete with those lines.

Y'all I swear I'm sober and generally not dumb, but I'm on the Apex as we speak and cannot for the life of me figure out how to turn on the shower in our Sky Suite. I've turned the knobs every which way, any past Apex cruisers know if there's some secret button or pull thing I'm missing?

OK this is definitely the post of the year, thank god it's still early in the year though, but come on already, you need help...from someone on the ship.

Oh come off it. Of course its not 'stealing' and unethical.

Cancel your cruise with zero penalty and a days notice because they're serving tilapia and a different cut of beef?! Oh and your car purchase comparison is way off. If you can find in your cruise contract (or actually any marketing put out by Celebrity) which promises prime rib in the mdr or promises not to serve tilapia then maybe you'd have a point. But obviously the cruise contract does not state that.

The vast majority of people won't care about or even notice the minor changes being introduced or won't be affected by them.

Any realistic suggestions for Celebrity to try or is your only solution to have an even more generous cancellation policy than they had for covid?! Because of a steak.

Finally, I can guarantee you if all the cruise lines do not make cuts then they will be "done" and I also guarantee that the vast majority of passengers (less than 1% of cruisers probably post on here, I take a lot of complaints with a pinch of salt) won't take into account what cuts of beef are served in one of the restaurants (or how one type of fish is farmed) when deciding whether to book a cruise or not. I absolutely guarantee that.

Well said but how dare you interject here with reason and sensibility!  🙂

You must hate farm products after all the cow manure and liquid pig manure that gets sprayed on our fields

and lobsters, they crawl at the bottom of the ocean for a reason...though perhaps that is why they are so dang tasty!

I'm originally from North Texas. All our family still lives there. Maybe that's why we live in Florida now...🤣

It's supposed to get down to 39F here in south Florida tonight. Our weather forecast is being predicted by the likelihood of falling iguanas. 🦎

I was in Naples for Xmas and of course, whenever I travel to what is supposed to be warmer weather in the winter, my New England weather follows me right along (does not want me to be homesick apparently) and it was 41 on Xmas morning and low 50's most of the week.  Though of course the day I was flying home it was 74.

Same here in North Texas. We had two days in the 80's.

I respectfully ask that you both kindly be quiet about your weather.  🙂  I am in the south as well, but it is the south of New England and it is 27 degrees and been raining for 3 days, I'm trying to remember what sunshine looks like!  OK, you can go back to resuming your enjoyment of the real south's weather..

I know from several years of our posting on CC that your taste for a cruise is very similar to mine so I can't wait to hear how you like or dislike the Oceania cruise in May.

We are really looking forward to it.  I will say though, it is called the Founders Cruise, and I did not know when I booked it, that meant the Oceania founder, Frank del Rio will be on board for the entire cruise.  I'm sure that will have a big impact on the level of the cruise.  But as I said, had no idea of that at the time of booking so was obviously excited to try Oceania and really look forward to it.

And what about skorts for women?  No one has mentioned skorts, which I wear all the time in the summer.

And what about skorts for women?  This reminds me of a question George Carlin asked when I saw him in Vegas, but that is NSFCC 🙂  I see absolutely no reason why a skort would not be allowed.

Where are you going on Azamara?

Not decided yet.  We are looking at either a 9 night all Spain itin or a 9 night Med.  We are doing our first Oceania in May 7 nights Med and the Azamara includes a few of the ports on the O cruise but also has several places we really like that we have not yet been to.  I remember you advising me oh many many Covid months ago to consider and seriously look at Azamara.  Like O, when compare to current Celebrity prices, makes it a no brainer.

Carnival is not the same line it was in 2001. They've changed, especially with their newer ships and the 7-day or longer itineraries. Your experience made you decide to swear off Carnival forever, and that's fine, but that experience was over two decades ago and is no longer representative of what they offer today.

Also, it's not even remotely fair to place an Azamara or Oceania level of expectation on Carnival. That's not what Carnival is, and many, many cruisers are very happy about that. I'm hoping Celebrity is a step up just because I'm looking for a less active and more peaceful cruise this time, but I will still happily cruise Carnival because it's a good product at a good value.

I can honestly appreciate your point, but my point is that it's my money and I don't have to be fair in how I decide to spend it.

Carnival, NCL and Royal have been off our lists for many years. HAL went off our list last year after the Covid experience we had on the Oosterdam. Our list is now Celebrity, Oceania and Viking Ocean.

Carnival was removed from my list in 2001, my first and only time, nuff said.  Celebrity (current pricing gives me pause) but I love the product, Oceania (1st time will be May) I have high expectations and I am looking at Azamara as well.

We always had excellent service, a clean cabin  and great food on Carnival.  Never had any complaints.  We are not loyal to any one cruise line. We have a Royal Caribbean credit card so we can also use our points on Celebrity.  Same Tshirt, different cruise line is how I feel.  If the price is right and the value exists, all aboard!

I hear you on not being loyal to one line.  I'm not either but there are just a few I'd consider, Carnival is no longer one of those.

Did you have to go and burst the bubble?  I know; the truth is important no matter what the topic!

Right!  They heard it, no matter where from, obviously made them happy to start their cruise on that note...

The two new ships, Mardi Gras and Celebration, are in a completely different category from the normal Carnival experience. They definitely upped their game with all the dining options on those ships.

    It's still Carnival...

Anyone have experience using Flights by Celebrity? Booked direct with Celebrity for 07 May 2023 / Italy, Croatia, Greece departing Rome Civitavecchia to take advantage of a "£99 Flights to EU" offer. Would've used a preferred TA, but she waited ages with Celebrity and neither could find this offer available. In the end, when I booked direct and added flights, I was able to qualify for this offer. Maybe a big in the system? Only thing is: the flight itinerary didn't show airline details, there was only one option, and it has arrival at 1:35 to Rome (FCO), ship departs 5:00. My research says it takes 45min minimum to get to Civi port. And that's best-case through Rome traffic. Will we have enough time to get from FCO to port? If not, why did Flights by Celebrity suggest this itinerary? Equally worrisome is that I don't yet have flight confirmation, though Celebrity confirmed a PNR exists on their end. If this turns out to be an issue, will Flights by Celebrity help to rebook? I'm worried obviously about missing the departure, but thought peace of mind was the point of booking your flights directly with Celebrity in the first place. Tell me please if I'm over-worrying.

Even though it is mostly highway driving, not going through Rome proper, still way to close for comfort to me.  Account for possible flight delay, getting luggage etc.  I might chance an early A.M. arrival but I'm far more comfortable being there one day early.  Good luck with this.
