  1. Re loyalty scheme it’s not transferable so you would start from scratch and not receive any status match for your P &O loyalty status if any. Other main points to note gratuities are not included in the fare, currently 16 / 18 dollars per person per day depending on cabin grade. and there is a 15% gratuity added to drinks purchased around the ship not part of a drinks package.
  2. Also in port on 4th is P & O Arvia and Norwegian Prima. Still should have no problem with a taxi. I haven’t been to Winchester for years but it is a lovely city. It is only a short ride to the railway station and should cost you less than £10. In June I had to pay a surcharge as it was a Sunday so don’t be surprised if what the price the meter says is increased. Most taxis will take contactless cards too.
  3. In my experience wait listing is not helpful. Your best bet is to keep checking the website several times a day and then book online straight away. You can also ask to go on the waitlist as well but past experience tells me it’s better to check for yourself. Check first thing then several times during the day.
  4. Brilliant so excited for you. Well done .I am so glad you kept checking and sorted it for yourself. I don’t have much faith in the wait list system and as you proved constant checking can pay dividends. Good job too you didn’t go for the club upgrade, now you can all eat together. Have a fabulous cruise all of you.
  5. I have never had a problem getting a taxi when disembarking. I always need one to take me to where my car is parked. There are so many circulating about. When are you going and I can then tell you what else my be going on.
  6. You should be entitled to have the drinks package but the port fees and taxes in U K pricing are just subsumed into the cruise price and included. They are not refundable as separate items. We have no knowledge of their value.
  7. She was and I watched her sail away from Southampton.
  8. If it’s like the ballet workshops you did have to register to attend and there was limited capacity. Performances and rehearsals were on a first come first served basis. The ballet were only on one part of the TA so everyone had equal chance to book. I would image each segment would have separate bookings to give everyone a chance.
  9. I decided in the end with the weather as it is in the world at the moment to just wait and see when it comes. I have crossed BOB in October and December and it has been gone fine and in March and April not so. I wouldn’t have said either my T A on QM last summer was that brilliant. I may think differently if it’s rough but I going to be optimistic.
  10. I have booked that too. I am a bit more inland than you - New Forest but thought it sounded a good opportunity for a short break. My daughter lives by the sea in Devon so I am hoping we will go that far.
  11. I have bitten the bullet and booked this today. Seems like an interesting itinerary.
  12. I wouldn’t because unless your parents are also in club you won’t be able to eat together. The restaurant is the only perk for club so it would be a waste of money. I personally don’t think the premium they charge is worth it. I could have another cruise for that amount. Others may tell you otherwise. The cabins depending on ship may have a glass shower door instead of a curtain and a coffee machine other than that they are the same.
  13. Definitely keep checking minimum twice a day . First thing in the morning in case system updates over night for your first check. Good luck.
  14. I really enjoyed those cruises as someone who loves sea days they ticked all the boxes for me. Did 1 Cunard and 3 P &O went up the West coast to Scotland and Isles three times. Even did one the following year on QV for 4 nights. Have booked one on QM for 2026 too.
  15. Get the X3 from Salisbury runs every half an hour peak times. Depending where you live in Salisbury can pick on the way. Starts from Blue Boar Row then out onto Downton Road via Brown Street and Exeter Street then change at Bournemouth Hospital terminal lots of choice. Alternatively by car turn off at the main road at the Hospital Law Courts roundabout - Cooper Dean go right and it’s sign posted not far. Don’t have to touch Bournemouth centre. Parking free too
  16. Oh I like it there. I go every week. Buy my food and clothes and pick up or return orders from M and S and and odd bits from Asda. Plus like Boots Superdrug etc..
  17. The red stipe indicated they were first time guests. The fact they already had their cruise means they were in transit passengers and always get to go back onboard quicker than newly embarking folk.
  18. Have you considered M and S at Castlepoint ? It’s not that much further than Southampton from Salisbury. It is a much bigger store than West Quay.(Not as big as Hedge End.)It has free parking and lots of other shops too including Asda and Sainsbury’s It’s unusual as it’s an outdoor precinct/ mall. You can get there by bus from Salisbury but you have to change at the hospital - Bournemouth but that’s very straightforward. Once I get my bus pass in November I shall always go by bus.
  19. I bought a beautiful ballerina length cocktail dress from White Stuff in the M and S sale in store. Not a brand I associated with evening wear but for winter cruising it’s perfect. As you say ordering is so easy. With a next day annual delivery pass and now with the self service return points it could be simpler. I too do not consider my wardrobe frumpy and I dress appropriately for my age.
  20. As long as you keep checking the website I would suggest at least twice a day you may be lucky. Please don’t rely on being contacted directly you need to keep checking for yourself on this one. Not sure how payment works for U S guests. In U K We can’t pay for a waitlisted cabin deposit or otherwise. Might be worth ringing Cunard and find out why they have been offered option to pay. Good luck and keep us posted.
  21. You are correct everyone has to have the same package. I think similar rules apply on most cruise lines. Drinks packages are big revenue earners for all cruise lines and they are not looking for ways to minimise this revenue making opportunity. If only one person drinks alcohol most people find pay as you go more financially viable. However unfair it seems I don’t think it’s a requirement that will go away any time soon. Anecdotally I have heard of people supplying supporting medical confirmation from a doctor that one person can’t drink alcohol but that in itself would cost so probably not worth the hassle.
  22. If I really want a booking I check the website at least once a day. I would not wait to see if I got the email. I book from UK and don’t use a travel agent. Here you just get an email no phone call. I have been lucky previously doing it myself and have had an email once offering me a cabin but I had already booked a different Cunard cruise so someone else would have been lucky.
  23. Thank you I will enquire onboard. I would rather have a card whatever the disadvantages may be. I am unlikely to sail Princess again as they do not offer reductions for solos. The cruise I am taking is a one off.
