  1. At least the desserts are the same and very nice they are too. Wonder what the daily special dessert is . That’s new.
  2. That’s a standard Britannia menu. Had those options many times. Only new items are the soups. The cherry clafoutis is very disappointing.
  3. Oh I see everyone on Cunard regardless of cabin or loyalty status gets the same except for Queens Grills guests who do get Champagne. Prefer the Cunard way.
  4. I have never had champagne on P &O offered free in my cabin on embarkation day. I really like Pol Aker. Have noticed recently it’s only a half bottle though.
  5. It was quite wet and windy during the day so many didn’t venture outside
  6. No discounts or offers. Cruise was more expensive than others. Carnival Maiden Voyages usually attract a significant premium as this one did.
  7. Hope so love the single cabins in the others
  8. I am meeting this couple for a meal in Southampton tonight before they board tomorrow for the Maiden. Be interesting to hear their views. On the whole they are big Cunard Fans
  9. Thank you for this I am also a solo lady traveller. I have 3 cruises booked that will need cover for, just to the end of 2024 so an £81 supplement is twice the £40 and won’t cover me for any cruises in 2025. It’s good value possibly for one or two cruises per year but not for multiple trips per year may have to rethink this I wonder if it was £27 flat rate regardless of length of cruise. ?
  10. Please do . The curry is part of my embarkation day ritual. Cabin to pick up card and dining card, muster station Golden Lion for a curry, then check my dining arrangements and then to Kings Court for an ice cream. Partial to a pie too.
  11. Thank you for sharing not liking the supplements. Hope this menu is not adopted fleet wide.
  12. You will still have to walk to the railway station from shuttle drop off. It’s not far along a straight road. Probably better to get going and either take taxi to station or walk 15 -20 mins direct from ship. Not an attractive walk through the docks. Taxi will be under £10. Always plenty available outside the terminal. If you are at Ocean Terminal station walk easier and I don’t think there is a shuttle.
  13. They will be returned home on the next available flight at the guest’s expense. It’s your personal responsibility to ensure you have valid travel documents. If not you can expect a hefty bill. Every now and then people are denied boarding for having invalid documents.
  14. Yes I would like to know too. I have 2 cruises booked before I renew then 3 short ones after. Unless it’s very reasonable I shall just have to look for alternative annual cruise cover.
  15. Don’t suppose you know how much the cruise cover is going to be ? I know it’s now per cruise but would be interested in knowing the charges to decide if it’s still worth it for me.
  16. I have never had a Porter help me at Southampton either post COVID Just unload suitcases my self and wheel them over to the correct area, then drive my car off to where I park it and get a taxi back.
  17. That will be the same folk who don’t have their cruise cards ready to show when getting back onboard despite the fact they have just shown them at the port gates.
  18. I thought that in the summer when we had to check in with them in the Britannia Restaurant at our allotted time. I bet there is no shortage of volunteers.
  19. I travel to Exeter from Salisbury and Sunday is every 2 hours with frequent bus replacements. Rarely go to London but the Exeter train originates there so I guess the frequency is similar. No trains before 9 30 on a Sunday ever at my destination.
  20. Slightly less frequently is an understatement certainly where I travel around in the south around Southampton. Hourly services reduced to infrequent 2 hours and as others have said loads of engineering works at the weekend with the dreaded replacement bus service.
  21. Yes that should work . We are planning to do similar when my newly born grandson is old enough to cruise. We are going to book an inside for me though and I will have most of my meals as QG room service looking after the baby.
  22. It depends on the time. Also the first night tends to have a queue at popular times.
  23. You can’t book a table. You will find a card with your allocated table number in your stateroom on arrival. If you mean Cunard fare you can choose the early or late slot for fixed dining but you can only express a preference for table size. Freedom dining means you don’t have a fixed time slot, table or table size. You just arrive at the restaurant at a time of your choice but you may have to wait to be seated at busy times. You can check if your table table / time suits you on embarkation day usually after 1 30 and ask to move if it’s not suitable providing there is an alternative option available.
  24. I’ve a back to back on QV for October. Booked onboard and asked and was told definitely no discount.
