Even if you accept that people are willing to pay the same for suites on Celebrity as the true luxury lines, the open question is for all of the other non-suite cabins. Most of us don't see a reason to pay more for cruises on the E-class ships for no-suite cabins. It will be interesting to see what the rates are for non-suite cabins 2 years from now. I doubt I'll be there.

We'll see how it works out, but I'm seeing a lot of people moving from Celebrity suites to other lines. I'm sure the plan is for Celebrity to make a lot of money from the suites, but most of the cabins are still non-suite cabins and they have to make money there. If Celebrity is charging higher prices for the same product on other lines, eventually the customers will move to the lines with lower prices.

If I'm not mistaken, you're a suite cruiser. It will be interesting to see if Celebrity' ship within a ship concept for the suites will work out in the long term. Celebrity is trying to market and price the suites on the E-class the same as the suites on the true luxury lines. I'm seeing more and more comments that people in this market prefer the true luxury lines. I believe that Celebrity is trying to use the higher prices on the suites to raise the prices on all of the cabins. I think this will turn out to be a mistake. Cruisers in the non-suite cabins will compare the prices to those on other mass market lines and will drift to the lower prices on those lines unless Celebrity adopts competitive prices for the non-suite cabins.

Sure we do, they got off the ship yesterday in Fort Lauderdale. Unlikely they ever saw the inside of a Family Cabana.

I'll suggest that those people aren't reading those books but using the library for a third very important function. Those people are taking the books so that they have something to use to save lounge chairs by the pool. This is much safer than using your own stuff in case you forget to come back to your lounger. Please don't worry about the books, the pool attendants return the books to the library before the beginning of the next cruise.

It seems to me that you are mixing requirements and recommendations. From the HAL website. When suggested attire is Casual smart casual attire is appropriate. Shorts, pool/beachwear, distressed jeans and men’s tank tops are best left to the daytime and are not permitted in table service restaurants. When suggested attire is Dressy we take it up a notch and recommend slacks, skirts, dresses, blouses, collared shirts and jackets. It is specifically stated that shorts, swimsuits, tank tops for men and old jeans are not permitted in table service restaurants. There really shouldn't be a question about wearing these items. However the implication that jackets or fancy dresses are required on Dressy nights just isn't true. It's only a recommendation and people can wear whatever makes them feel comfortable as long as the clothing is not specifically prohibited.

The only thing I have learned from this is never to book a cabana and have my entire vacation depend on the cabana.

Many of us disagree, making the best of the situation is the best advice. Many of us believe that you shouldn't let one issue ruin the entire trip. I hope you enjoy your cruise.

Thanks for the review. I'll be in Rome prior to the Edge redeployment cruise in October and I think I'll stay there. It looks like a good hotel in a great location.

I looked through the first third of this thread but I couldn't find your final assessment of the hotel. Any final thoughts? Would you stay there again? It looked like you booked a Superior Double or better room to get that view of the Pantheon. I'm only planning on being in Rome for 3 nights and that doesn't meet the requirements for the rooms on the higher levels. Would you stay there in a standard room on a lower floor? Thanks
