  1. I was faced with same decision recently and it was an easy call. My whole point of doing a Japan cruise was to see Japan not sit on a boat. Celebrity has a much more port intensive itinerary. At least that’s what I found when reviewing my dates. Easy call for me.
  2. “To each their own” is just a cute way of judging someone else’s decisions similar to when one insults someone but prefaces it by saying “no offense but”. Anything that comes before or after any of those words probably isn’t nice.
  3. The hospitality business must a miserable career choice these days
  4. We were on the spirit in July and going again in June. If you spend enough time on the cruise forums (every line) and reviews you will soon realize that people just like to complain. If you look for problems and issues that’s what you will find. There’s a reason why fares keep going up and people keep paying. 99% havr good time, enjoy their trip and don’t post reviews or comments.
  5. I fear triple tipping is coming in 2025. Once when you pay for the package. Again when you sit down so you get good service and then finally a third time when you get your drink. Why? Well just because others tell me I should. 😜
  6. Tipping beyond 20%? At some point this has to end.
  7. Some children can be irritating but it’s the adults that scare me traveling these days. Not a week goes by without another meltdown video
  8. Maybe not. My kids have been on several Silver Sea cruises, some they were the only kids. They have been on a bunch of 100’ Liveaboards and were the only kids every trip. They enjoyed every minute of it.
  9. Yes. But look at it this way. You didn’t have Covid which is great. But what if you had the flu which we don’t test for and can be just as dangerous to others. I think we’ve reached the point where we hope others will do the right thing instead of depending on a test for a single viral infection, amoung many, to make the decision for us. Tall ask I know.
  10. I’m not sure they don’t care I think it’s more that many have accepted it’s part of our lives now like the cold and flu.
  11. Go for it. We brought our kids on all our vacations starting when they were 7/8. Africa - only kids, Silversea - few in any other kids, Dive Liveaboards - only kids every time we go. Never an issue.
  12. Also, forgot to mention we bring our kids on scuba liveaboards which only have 20 guests and never seen another kid. In fact, the captain said they only get kids every few years. Regardless, they have a great time.
  13. I’ve taken my kids on many silversea cruises since they were even younger than that. On SS, it’s 99% adults on most cruises. On one, there was only one other kid on the ship. They had a great time. Don’t overthink it. It’s vacation. It’s Alaska!
  14. We usually cruise silversea. The butler was novel the first trip. Thereafter, didn’t find much, if any, added value.
  15. I’m going in July due to kids school breaks. If the choice is to go or not go the answer is an easy one for me. Also, having just did the Med this summer with temps 105+ it was totally fine. Hot? Absolutely! But it’s vacation so go at your own pace. Now working outside in that heat is a different story.
  16. Just booked our first celebrity cruise so can’t comment on the experience yet but for a family of 4 it’s about 60% less than we paid for our Silversea cruises so I would imagine the service, facilities and inclusions can’t be the same.
  17. I just booked my first Celebrity Cruise with my kids. They have been on several Silver Sea cruises and had a great time.
  18. Due to kids school and sports schedule I need a July Japan cruise and as far as I know Celebrity is the only line that offered them the last few years.
  19. The rest of Asia 2025 was supposed to be released yesterday. I’m not seeing anything.
  20. I asked SS to book my BC tickets 270 days out and they did within a day, provided me with confirmation code and booked my seats.

I always do the math. For our Med cruise SS Air with Business Class upgrade saved a lot of $. For our upcoming Iceland Cruise flying from NY it did not make sense and I saved a lot of money booking Iceland Air Saga Class (basically US domestic first class equivalent).
  22. I definitely remember seeing that sign as well.
  23. We were on in July. I recall hours being posted but the doors were never locked. We always book cabin next to laundry and don’t hear a thing. We do a load every morning at 5:30am before the gym this way we can pack light.
  24. Thank you. Now I wonder if they won’t be sailing Japan in July 2025 as the announcement says starting in Fall 2025 and with kids that’s the only month we can go.
  25. I recently received a completely opposite email. We are booked on an Iceland cruise next July and not only have P2P but repriced a few months ago when they had a pay in full discount. My Virtuoso agent recently informed me that my OBC is going from $300 to $400 per cabin.
