  1. As a traveler who recently completed his first Celebrity cruise, we booked with the all-in-one stuff right away and didn't regret it -- despite the zillion "offers" we received via email or saw on the Celebrity site afterward. In my limited experience, there is some financial benefit to the all-in-one offer. cjr
  2. Even better chance our future tower resembles the one you received! cjr
  3. In the North Atlantic on our recent cruise, the motion of the ocean around Day 9-10 got to my wife even though she'd never been seasick before. I'd brought along those acupuncture-wristbands despite her insisting she'd "never need them or wear them" (and calling me a nerd for even buying them). Unfortunately, they didn't help her so I sought out some meds onboard and received meclazine packets, which helped her within six-ish hours. On our next cruise, I won't bother with the wristbands and will just bring our own meds. Hopefully, she won't need them again! cjr
  4. Noob, here, but what does "the hump" mean? Thank you in advance, cjr
  5. Thank you for the pix! I doubt we'll be able to just get the Tower (not that we'd want to, I suspect), and I understand that was 2021, but it looks tasty and fresh. And thank you to everyone who's shared their photos/insights about The Porch/Seafood Tower, too. Everything makes my mouth water! cjr
  6. Thanks for the explanation! Again, sorry I misinterpreted your intent. cjr
  7. During our Silhouette cruise earlier this month, my wife and I twice made reservations for The Porch on different days. Unfortunately, we had to cancel our rez both times (don't ask), so we never experienced this place or, specifically, its "Seafood Tower." My bride loves seafood, as do I, but she constantly focused on this tower thing for some reason, which was an additional cost per person on top of the basic cost. ($17 per person, I think.) Anyway, we have another cruise scheduled for March 2023 and I know she will make experiencing this tower happen. So, what is this tower thing? Is it worth the additional expense? It's not about the cost; it's mainly that the shrimp platters/cocktails we ordered were, um... "small" ๐Ÿ™‚ Firsthand descriptions and/or photos will be appreciated! ๐Ÿฆž๐ŸŸ๐Ÿฆ I hope the Seafood Tower, and this venue, are awesome! Thank you, cjr
  8. Love the "ignore" function on this site. Anyway, @Jim_Iain, I've found your posts friendly and useful since I joined. Sorry if I misread the intent of your reply above but there's no context on text-based forums like this, so I just asked so I could hear from you. ๐Ÿคฃ cjr
  9. Honestly, I never noticed a difference in the foil night-to-night. Hate to think I left a pile of the tasty dark stuff sitting there? On our next cruise this spring, I will at least try a few so I don't make this mistake again. cjr
  10. I posted what I was told, @Jim_Iain. Not sure why you felt it necessary to correct me here? cjr
  11. Wasn't trying to trigger a flame war; mine was a sincere question and nothing to do with ABV. My wife is a Diet Coke devotee, too, but we had no problem getting 'em on our recent cruise, whether at a bar, restaurant, stocked in our stateroom, etc. Sorry if your experience was different. cjr

I asked my wife last night about the "order" of how we boarded during our recent cruise, i.e., muster-station first or room first. She said we hit the muster-spot first and then went to our stateroom, which the Celebrity app instructed us to do. As I've indicated, we were new to the whole thing. More than likely, we just wanted to complete the check-in process so we could then wander about, find that first adult beverage, a spot to decompress, etc. Regardless, our embarkation experience was quick and efficient, and I hope that's the norm for Celebrity and for everyone reading this. cjr
  13. In my case with this CC opportunity, it's likely I deleted the original email. To restart, though, I suggest going to Celebrity's site and just re-subscribing by entering your email? cjr
  14. Can't say how tasty the squares were since I didn't eat one the entire time ๐Ÿ˜† cjr
  15. Noob, here, but I've received many emails about sailing with the Celebrity CEO in the past year. In no way are my comments here an expression of what I think of her performance in that role, etc., because I have zero idea, but I've been puzzled as well about the appeal of such a cruise. I'm not interested in meeting the Celebrity CEO, or the captain of any ship I sail upon. That's just me and the way I'm wired. Itineraries interest me and, while this one grabs me, the CEO's presence or not simply isn't a compelling reason vs. schedule, cost, location, etc. Naively, I think that if the CEO is aboard my cruise, then everything will be "ship shape." Is that a benefit of these sailings, perhaps? cjr
  16. Old-school or not, it's moments like this why I always bring hard-copies with me when I travel. It's not just about losing internet access; what if I lose my phone entirely? It's zero inconvenience to me to tuck a bit of paper somewhere amidst my travel gear and, despite my wife's cries of "You nerd!" ringing in my ears sometimes (I'm the planner, she's not), I feel better knowing I've got at least one other form of backup I can use, even if I never have to use it. ๐Ÿ˜‡ cjr

    Seapass

Yeah, I can't comment about that @bama4cruisin since we had to provide proof of proctored COVID-19 tests taken within 48 hours before we could even board. Again, I think my wife and I visited our muster station after boarding but before we visited our cabin. There were actually two staff members at that station and they crossed us off on a paper list/clipboard -- no SeaPass scanning. Anyway, it doesn't matter for the purposes of this OP's initial question, but thanks, cjr

    Seapass

We were instructed to visit our muster station first, where staff awaited us. I thought we did this beforehand, but perhaps we grabbed our SeaPasses first... I don't remember now. Regardless, I didn't mean to shift this thread from the OP's actual questions... cjr
  19. This a fun question ๐Ÿ˜ƒ During our recent cruise -- even though I love chocolate -- I just didn't want to eat that morsel on my pillow late in the evening/night, and my wife doesn't care for chocolate at all. Thus, I just started stacking those things on the coffee-service tray. By the end of our 12-night cruise, there was quite a stack of those buggers. I left them there but now wish I'd packed 'em so I could use them in a recipe later -- or at least snarf them! cjr

I just completed my first cruise this month, so just to put things in noob terms: once you board and physically visit your muster station (part of the Celebrity app check-in process), you can then go directly to your cabin. There, you will find a sealed envelope containing your SeaPass(es) tucked behind the room-number slot outside of your door. That spot serves as your onboard "mailbox" throughout your cruise for daily updates, notices, etc. After you snag your card(s), the Celebrity app will help you find the bars/restaurants open at that time. Hope you have a blast! cjr
  21. We cruised aboard the Silhouette at the end of August to September 10. I asked about capacity and was told ~2,400 passengers were aboard, served by ~1,000 crew members. Can't speak to the capacity percentage or what/how many cabins remained available during our cruise, but the ship felt chock full o' peeps but never terribly crowded to me, FWIW. cjr
  22. Very odd. I received that same "last chance" email on September 23 and just "officially" registered/watched it today. To be fair, perhaps I missed the initial CC-points offer because the subject line didn't signal something obvious, such as "Hey, earn CC points here, Dummy" ๐Ÿ˜€ and I just deleted it amidst the many Celebrity emails I get? Regardless, after watching it today, I didn't receive a follow-up confirmation email, either. Just have to watch for those sweet CC points to hit my account ~Oct. 14, I guess. cjr
