  1. Thank you, that makes sense. Do you know which is the larger one on the Breakaway?
  2. We're putting together a finale night dinner for our group of 17 cruisers. Those of you familiar with the Breakaway MDR's, is there any one that you think would work out better? The Manhattan room, Savor and Taste all take reservations, and we're thinking of reserving 3 tables for 6 people each, and would like them to be near each other. Any comments on the differences in those MDRs would be appreciated, also. Thanks!
  3. We also did Twilight Trastevere with Eating Europe/Eating Italy. It was so nice that we've booked it again for July! Just google "Eating Europe Twilight Trastevere". They have several other tours so check them out.
  4. Thanks for the information, I think we'll do this on our Naples stop in July. Did you get cold enough to need a sweater or jacket?
  5. Thank you! This bus service by City Sightseeing is available the day we are there. It only cost €30 compared to $79 for the cruise line's "on your own". The other difference is that it leaves later, at 10:30 am and the cruise line leaves at 8:45am. I'm VERY happy about getting a day to sleep in! We're doing it! Thanks again.
  6. I just created an account for my husband and linked our reservation to it. Please confirm that the following is correct. I will buy the unlimited package using my husband's account since he is a wi-fi hog and uses YouTube all the time, so he'll need the premium service. I will still have the 150 FAS minutes if I sign onto my account. Because we have wi-fi service from separate accounts (unlimited and 150 FAS) we'll each be able to be logged in simultaneously since we're signed onto separate accounts. When my 150 minutes run out, and if I need wi-fi, from my device I will use his ID (email) and PW and log into NCL to use the wi-fi. At this time we'll need to take turns since it's one account with wi-fi. If this is correct then I need to decide if it's worth it, or if we can just share. We are on a 10-day Mediterranean with lots of ports of call.
  7. Wow, that's awesome. Thanks for helping! We were considering departing our Rome hotel at 10 which should get us to the port by 11:30. So we'll stick with that! 🙂
  8. Does anyone have experience with the BREAKAWAY departing from the ROME port of CIVITAVECCHIA? Is it much different of a port from the others? Would selecting a 11am check-in be OK?
  9. Thanks so much for this encouragement. Thanks! I do have one question about the cabin. Is there a plug or USB port near the tiny nightstand, for charging our cells? If so how many (both sides, one in the middle, etc.). 🙂
  10. We found a private tour for our group of 15 that would do the same: Etna, followed by Taormina, ending at the clock in Messina. Did you think it was worth going to Etna?
  11. Fantastic. Sounds simple. And yes we would pre-book. Question about buying tickets to ancient Olympia. If we wanted to start at the small museum of the History of the Olympic Games in Antiquity, can we buy our ticket there? Or is there just one place to buy it, and if so where is it located? Edited to add: I see we can also buy them online at https://etickets.tap.gr/ I'm not sure if they will scan my cell phone or if I need to print them out.
  12. I too will look forward to reports on this. We'll be in Breakaway10184 with an angled balcony. Our son is in a studio just down the hall. I was hoping we can add a lounger and a small table, and keep the 2 chairs. Then all 3 of us can enjoy the balcony. If the lounger doesn't fit I'll settle for a 3rd chair. But it will be warm in the Mediterranean in July, so I've been dreaming of a lounger!
  13. JB, I have a question about the car rental process. How long was it before you drove away in the rental car? Was there a lot of red-tape, signing? And where was the car located in relation to the office? I want to know because we'll be in a bit of a hurry to get going since another ship comes into port 1 hour after us. So it's a toss up between the car rental, or the taxi that would be waiting there for us.
  14. I do have a question about tickets to Olympia. If I buy them in advance on the official site https://etickets.tap.gr/ do I have to print the tickets out or can they scan my phone?
  15. I'm resurrecting this thread to say THANK YOU to everyone who replied, and especially @John Bull for the car rental information, and @stldjbsh for the private taxi from Andreas Stamos. I've already reached out to Andreas to get a price. We'll be doing Olympia on our own but just need a ride. Thanks!
  16. Thanks. I'm the same way, need the air flow. So I think I'll bring my battery run fan. I do think the issue is with anything electric. I KNOW that's not specified, and a fan is a fan, so I'll take my chances.
  17. If you were cruising to a Hot climate area, is the fan of the HVAC system with the A/C lowered to 66 inadequate enough to need a fan?
  18. golden, Which Chase Sapphire card do you have? I'm quite familiar with the Chase Sapphire Preferred only, since I have that one. And it covers what you said but has NO MEDICAL coverage. I use it for all my travel, but also buy the GeoBlue Trekker annual medical plan since we travel out of the country more than once a year. The Sapphire Reserve does indeed cover medical. But I don't have that one so I can't speak for it's medical coverage limits. Like the others here said, the loss of $$ from a cancellation can be peanuts compared to possible medical emergencies and evacuation expenses.
  19. Yes, I can imagine. However we'll be in Greece, Italy and Malta in July, so HOT weather is expected.
  20. When making dinner reservations using the NCL app or website, I don't see a way to specify we'd like to sit outside on the Waterfront. Does anyone have experience with requesting outdoor dining at La Cucina, Cagney's, Moderno or Ocean Blue? Edited: to add that we are NOT Haven.
  21. Thanks, that's helpful. Well, as much as I don't like crowds, pushing and shoving it may have to happen in Athens, since our goal is to get to the Acropolis before 8 am, which means getting off the ship at 7:30. Interesting. Thanks again. I know I read somewhere regarding NCL excursions getting priority. But it may be related to the tender port of Santorini Greece. It's a unique situation there because of 2 ports, Athinos used for cruise ships excursions only, and the old port of Fira is used for non NCL excursions. Both are tender ports, and they may use all the tenders for the NCL goers first. Such is not the case in Athens, so it'll be a free for all!
  22. Newbie cruiser here. At each POC I understand that those who booked NCL shore excursions get priority to disembark. We plan on doing many private excursions. And being new to cruising I don't understand how disembarking works at each POC (European) and how prioritization is given. 1. Will someone please explain the disembarking protocol & procedures, and how priority works? Also, I'm trying to get an idea of what time to book our private tours. So if the ship is scheduled at a non-tender port for 7am (Athens Greece), and I see that the earliest NCL excursions start at 7:45, then 8:00, 8:15 and later... 2. Approximately what time can we expect to disembark, not being on an NCL excursion? And thanks again for your help!
  23. Thanks. We will be going up for sure. My struggle is that it's in July and I don't handle heat well, so we'll need to try hard to get off the ship early and go directly there. And yes, we'll have a guide too!
  24. Thanks! Our cruise is 10 days. What does "They run a half fill a bag for a set fee." mean? Are you saying that besides the one-time $29 full bag offer that there's another offer for a half of a bag? If so, how is a half bag measured?
