Our development went from twice a week to once a week trash pick up. We got those big 65 gallon trash cans. Since we have a lot of elderly in our development, they also offered a smaller 30 gallon trashcan for those people that didn’t need the big one.

Same in our city. We don't need the big one and honestly the smaller one is probably still too big. But we kept the larger one because it's easier to roll out with little in it.

The challenge now is, as others said, the stuff that doesn't fit in that people set out next to the bins - it doesn't get picked up...

  2. Kidney scan this morning to determine if all my "visitors" have vacated or if I'm still waiting on another round of fun. Urology appt is a week away, so I'm hoping to get the report when it's ready & not spend the week wondering.

PT this afternoon - they're working on both shoulders, knee and neck plus dry needling so it's a full hour. Their a/c works very well, so it actually feels cool in there. See, always a positive if we just peel back enough layers 🫣

Thanks, everyone, for the kind words & hugs about my brother yesterday and today.

Prayers 🙏 and positive thoughts for all.

  3. Relieved today is coming to an end; it's always a tough day as it's the anniversary (seems an awkward word to use) of the day my younger brother killed himself 💔 Supposedly time heals all wounds, but this wound remains raw. When does it get easier? Maybe by year 10, but year 6 isn't it😪

Brother the Older had chicken fried steak for lunch in honor of Brother the Younger and I drank fresh lemonade. Traditions and rituals can be odd, quirky things, but if they bring us peace they're exactly the right thing.

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers - it's been a tough day.

...pictures from yesterday viewed from the evacuation route. Been there done that. SO glad I’m safe but still overwhelmed.

Thanks for sharing the pictures; I hadn't seen them. Such devastating fires are always difficult to see; having lived in Ruidoso, they are especially heart wrenching.

Prayers for all in the area and those battling the fire.

Thanks. That's disappointing but I get it. I just loved the chance to hear the crew talk about little secret ways to get here and there and all. I hate the technology that taken some of the more fun things away.

Once you meet your cabin steward, you could ask them if they have any tips - if anyone knows the quickest ways to get around the ship, they do 😊

That would also be a good question for one of the coffee chats - different crew join the CD and take live questions from passengers.

  6. I've never seen one offered, but you could check w/guest services to be sure.

You might study the deck plan before you board - locate your cabin and note the path you would take to get to commonly visited places such as Guest Services, Crow's Nest, MDR, Lido, Library, etc. Then go to those places when you board and see if "your" map worked. You might start with locating your cabin from a lower deck mid-ship as that is likely where you will board.

Safe travels - enjoy your cruise!

I would like to know this too. I have an email from SheerID stating my eligiblity for the offer had been verified, but there is nothing showing online in my booking and nothing from HAL. Emailed guest relations and received a case number a week ago, but no response. How hard could it be to show the OBC in the Navigator App?

Unfortunately OBC does not show. You can call and ask for an updated booking confirmation  - OBC will show on it.

It was used for our June 1 embarkation,  yes it does seem to speed things up, at least for us with only 2 ships that day. We arrived at the port at 11:30 and were in our cabin at 12:10. Amazingly painless for Vancouver .

That is amazing for Vancouver. I hope the trend continues as that's a game changer for AK cruises. DH has all but threatened divorce if he has to endure the fiasco that is embarking in Vancouver.

That's interesting. I always pick my own room. I've never seen that option. I probably just moved over it and didn't even realize it was there. I will call my travel agent though and make sure that for my next 2 cruises I don't want any upgrades.

I also always have my bookings noted as "no upgrade" to minimize being moved out of my carefully selected cabin. After you have your TA note the bookings, ask them to send you an updated booking confirmation - it will show in the details toward the end.

That is not correct - the Pinnacle Grill lunch menu has a steak on it; there is no need to ask for a dinner menu. It does not have the full selection the dinner menu does, but there is a steak on it.

@BackNow I'm not able to locate the menu, but @Crew News probably has one he can share. It is a nice menu.

Here's our lunch from the PG lunch menu

    Steak

...When he sat down, he found the menu was for lunch and the most you can get for lunch is a hamburger.  He called the waiter over and told him that it is should be a replacement dinner not lunch.  He wanted a dinner menu.  He finally got a good steak.

Going to Alaska in August on the Nieuw Amsterdam with grandsons 6 & 9.  Are the ranger programs held in Club HAL?

When we've seen them, they were out on deck w/the Rangers who came on board or the Crow's Nest. It may vary by ship.

Elizabeth, none of those names sound familiar. I’m seeing my DM tomorrow and will ask her. I have so many cousins and relatives in Limon and the area that I feel I’m related to almost everyone. The last name is Monks, not my name, but they are related to half of Limon. I have a brother who lives east and nieces and a nephew too.  My DM still gets the Limon Leader and gives it to me to read. I’ll keep those names in mind while reading.

So exciting!! Lol. I'll be interested in what you learn. Aunt Donna worked at the "rest" home, as they were called back then.

  14. @Sharon in AZ yesterday's thread is locked, so I'm continuing the Limon discussion here.

My family that has been there for some time is Kline. My aunt & uncle were Donna and Nick Kline; cousins that you may have gone to school w/are Joe, DaLonna & Aaron. Only Aaron still lives in Limon (in the house he grew up in), Joe lives across the country and DaLonna lives elsewhere in CO. My other family name that lived there until fairly recently was Wilson. Neither of those are my last name🫡

    Also have family in Bennett.

    Small world.
