  1. I have not been on Celebrity, but do hear good things. Maybe one day 🤷‍♀️ At the restart, DH cousin spent many months as a nurse for them. She came away w/$$, good memories & a husband, lol.
  2. I don't understand why K'dam MDR is such a struggle and why it is SO different than other ships. Dec/Jan I commented more than once regarding 2+ hour service and hoped it would improve, but clearly it hasn't. It's disappointing. @Mary229 if you figure it out, I hope you'll let us know. Maybe the Maitre D is open to a candid conversation? 🤷‍♀️
  3. Welcome back to HAL! I've not been on Zaandam, so can't speak specifically to that ship. I've sailed K'dam several times, as recently as Dec '23 - Jan '24 Hawaii and Mexico Dec '22. While I VERY much enjoy the Thermal Spa and Grand Dutch Cafe, the MDR dinner was a major struggle. The dogs 🐕 K'dam continues to allow onboard (photo documented as recently as this month by current passengers and me Dec & Jan) is beyond insulting to actual service animals and will have me booking other ships. Also cruising Carnival, I agree that HAL entertainment is very different. I hope you'll come back and give us your opinion of the Zaandam and HAL. Safe travels - enjoy your cruise!
  4. @smitty34877 extra hugs 🤗prayers 🙏 and positive thoughts. Some days are just not as good or easy as others and we need a little "extra" whatever that may be.
  5. I enjoy tortilla chips and today's a good day to have some. DH large trading card collection was stolen years ago, but we can still recognize their day. Not sure what Twin Peaks Day is - am I supposed to celebrate a show I didn't watch or remember this horrible shootout: https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/waco-biker-shooting-prosecutors-drop-all-charges-deadly-shootout-n990341 There is a video clip from inside the restaurant; I wasn't able to copy it by itself, but you can watch it without reading the whole article. It was another deadly tragedy for that town. The link below has a different video clip - warning it might be graphic: https://www.cnn.com/videos/us/2015/10/30/waco-biker-shooting-lavandera-pkg-erin.cnn I agree with the quote; having lost a brother to suicide, I am painfully aware that is not attainable for some. Pass on the meal & drink, would try the wine, not been to the port. I use the Gregorian Calendar every day & appreciate the consistency it provides. Currently 59° headed to sunny 79° - 86° tomorrow and 93° on Monday. Holey moley! Going out to pick up Rx before they get put back and grab a gallon of tea; I should make it myself, but Kroger's is really good and it's decaf, plus it's in a jug that easy to keep in the fridge and I get 4x gas points. 😊 Prayers and positive thoughts for all. 🙏
  6. Also keep in mind that CO itself is capacity controlled and can sell out independent of the sailing. With a cruise that is sold out, if CO is also sold out (highly likely), there's no OBC (or other alternative benefit) to receive.
  7. Yes, once you've applied gift card to your onboard account, it shows as OBC and is used like any other OBC.
  8. Mine, too. Thanks for the link - that song 🎵 never fails to make me tear up. 😊
  9. Interesting collection of days - anti-bullying is important. I would like the cookies but need something more substantial as a meal, pass on the drink, maybe try the wine 🍷 if someone else is buying, was in Kona Dec 30 and will share a couple pictures. Important says in history. Still no call from PT that they've received approval so I will call them. And I'll work today; hope it's easier today - yesterday's outages caused a few snags for us. Currently 54° headed to sunny 73°, forecast still says 90° on Monday; my calendar says it's still Feb. 🤷‍♀️ Prayers and positive thoughts for all. 🙏 Visited Kona Dec 30 2023 on the Christmas New Years K'dam cruise - my first solo cruise. Bow Cam at arrival Aft Cam at arrival No excursion - I walked around the port. I was going to crop the top of this, but decided to leave it so you can see how blue the sky was that day. Later, there were some clouds. The public beach is right at the tenders. I saw parasailers and paddle boarders. I walked to the right - This is the start of my walk Parks dept office - ship is anchored out between the buildings, across the street is a small market. Shopping list was short - local wine (this did not make the cut due to price) And a book for the grand This tree is just across from the beach - pretty and popular for shade View of K'dam as I was walking Last tender was 5:30, but a special run was made to go get the final passenger. Kona Sunset as seen from the K'dam This is the port map we were given on the ship
  10. Happy Birthday 🎂 🥳 🎉 🎈 🎁 🎊 @lindaler
  11. Ditto. Well except for the casino, unless time spent passing through enroute to another place counts. Anyhoo - not a chance in this world I'm getting on a DCL vessel. Yes, options are lovely.
  12. YAY - makes me smile to read HAL exceeded your expectations and that you'll be back. 😊 No cruise or cruiseline is perfect, but HAL does a great job onboard.
  13. Not OP, but weighing in. I book for the entire cruise and use it in some capacity every day, even port days. $50/day adds up quickly if you go daily. But if you only go a few times/wk that may be the better value for you. It's kinda like a drink package where you gotta do the math. Either way you go - enjoy!
  14. If you used a TA, reach out to them - they can handle it. If you used a PCC or booked direct, just call HAL reservations.
  15. US passengers report both - some have prepaid and not been charged the difference when there's been an increase and some report they've received a credit for the amount that was prepaid then been charged the new amount each day resulting in paying the difference. There are several recent discussions about this and no definitive answer that I've seen. Screenshots have been provided supporting both sides, leaving me to wonder which is correct and how can a passenger reasonably know what to expect? Personal experience, when I've prepaid, grats are not on my statement (I just never see them) but I've not cruised after an increase & prepayment.
  16. It's a toss up - We've seen it automatically applied to some bookings but have also had to call and have it added. We do have to resubmit each year and recently notice credit sitting in DH account that goes away once it's applied to a booking.
  17. Welcome home and thanks for letting us hitch hike 😀 😊 Thoroughly enjoyed the info and pictures.
  18. Interesting collection of days - I have no tobacco to give up, but hope success for those who do. Humility is a good trait - Tim McGraw has a really good song "Humble and Kind." Both quotes (I like a bonus) are good. Would try the meal, drink and wine; not been to the port. Thanks @StLouisCruisers for the update on @marshhawk and @catmando beautiful pictures - the churches are amazing, fingers crossed the hair cut results meet your expectations. @JazzyV prayers and positive thoughts for you today. @seagarsmoker another stunning picture! Too bad you're missing a port @richwmn - hull cleaning is important, but I don’t think I've ever missed a port for it. @Crazy For Cats I have attended far too many of those "here's why we're great" talks 🙄 I love the way you recognize it and would like to borrow that, if you don't mind. No PT today - still waiting on a call from them, so it's all work today. Currently 63° headed to sunny 79° and 90° on Monday!! Prayers and positive thoughts for all. 🙏
  19. It is not a scam - HAL offers OBC to military. We use it each cruise.
