Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Sorry, I wasn't very clear. I was referring to your comment that someone mentioned that you shouldn't have shared the original post about the offer. I meant at the same time you are going to have people also thanking you for sharing it with the community. You can't please everyone because everyone tends to have differing opinions.
  2. Completely agree with your "drink package" call.
  3. If Jen wants to learn something from this thread, I think one thing would be to develop empathy for their customers. The situation they have place us in with a short timeframe is: Do nothing and end up with something you either didn't agree to, or risk losing your money, OR Call this number that we are providing to you, and because of lack of communication and preparedness on Princess' part, spent a lot of time on the phone and probably still lose your money unless you keep calling back until you hopefully get it credited back. You know our time is valuable (as is everyone's), and we engage Princess (and other cruise lines) to find enjoyment... not to add to our stress.
  4. I think if you don't make your own distinction regarding what advice you choose to follow, and what you choose to pass on... then you will end up with conflicting goals/paths. (I'm not saying that this is you, just posting my opinion.)
  5. So does this mean if in your example, you think a $29 seat selection fee in USD would be a $29 CAD seat selection fee if booked on a Canadian website? If that's the case, then I agree that you had to pay more (and generally, all US passengers are getting disadvantaged). I think some people think the same seat selection on the same flight would be $29 USD or ~$40 CAD, in which case the only difference would be the effective exchange rate used and any currency conversion additional fee.
  6. I'm going to share something that is probably obvious to most people on this thread, but was very confusing for me for a while. I didn't really understand what were perks and what were amenities, because in my mind they were just benefits associated with the room/category. But I finally noticed the amenity description on the room and it kind of all came together. So the things listed under the Stateroom amenities get included if you win the MoveUp bid: And kind of by process of elimination, that probably means the Premium Drinks and Premium Wi-Fi is a perk... whether you get it because you initially book a Suite, or because you initially book an All-Included room (which would give you a Classic Drink package and a Basic Wi-Fi).
  7. I'm just curious... in your example, was it like quoted 100 CDN and then you had to pay 100 USD? or was there a converted USD amount?
  8. I agree that this issue is probably widespread. Your tale regarding your DH could practically be a tale about my DW.
  9. You might want to also price out the All-Included option which includes the Classic beverage package and Basic Wifi. Because of the weirdness of pricing, it might be the same or even cheaper than getting the Classic beverage package by itself. That being said, there isn't really the chance to reprice the All-Included and so if there are really good deals (at a later sale) on the Beverage package by itself (and you don't really value the Wifi) then you might want to stick with getting it separately.
  10. Why don't you just ask for the bed to be configured as 2 separate beds?
  11. Fyi... there is another thread on this forum stating that Celebrity has eliminated the $500/person, $1,000/stateroom limit on Gift Cards. All of the other mentioned conditions still apply... so still can't use it for the deposit, only for outstanding booking balance, not for onboard expenditures, and no refund if you cancel the cruise.
  12. I agree, but if you think of it more like bottle service at a bar, then the price makes more sense maybe even cheap by comparison (although I generally find bottle service prices outside of my comfort zone). It definitely is over the top compared to Duty Free prices (or any regular retail prices), but those bottles are not allowed to be consumed onboard the ship.
  13. My thought is that they are charging me the automatic 18%-20% tip, so that is what I am giving. I think for people that normally tip more than that amount (or if I feel like I want to tip more than that amount), then they may want to tip more as additional cash to get to their preferred amount. It's personal and frankly it's your hard-earned money, so you should decide how you spend it. I don't think in this case, cruising is any different from the rest of life.
