  1. When the seas were rough you could definitely feel it. I have not been bothered by motion sickness....however, I sure was the very first day on that trip. But the whole ship was rocking. Finally, after the Dramamine kicked in I was fine the rest of the way. It was pretty rough for two days. Lots of spilled drinks as people were trying to walk around. One of those situations where it was kinda funny...but kinda not.
  2. We were on a forward mini-suite (one with a balcony as large as the room!!!) and they never locked the balcony door. There is a warning sticker on the sliding glass door. We tried going out a couple times when making the crossing. Ridiculous winds....but never thought I was going to get blown overboard.
  3. Sail away ... and sail on! Enjoy your cruise!
  4. I concur....highly recommend the upgrade from a balcony (tiny bathroom/shower) to a club class mini suite (larger shower/tub and sink area) as the wait staff in the DR treat you like royalty. Lunch is served in club class on sea days, and breakfast is served in club class on embarkation day, too. Try it, you'll like it!!!
  5. Let there be peace on earth....and let it begin with me....and each of us! Peace!
  6. Thanks for educating me on this new term. I try to learn a new word each day. This is mine for today! Peace!
  7. We can put a man or woman on the moon -- so let's get a battery that doesn't fade out after 14-day cruise. Maybe they're using outdated batteries from the COVID lockdown era. Still, I'm grateful to be able to cruise...even if the battery fades!!! YIPPPPEEEE!!!!!
  8. An interesting notation....your cruise must be around +90 days away. And yet, I thought the rules for bidding to upgrade were that the voyage needed to be within 75 days or 70 days of sailing. So is the offer you received different than their "bid to upgrade" program?
  9. Thanks for putting the screenshots in this. It's very helpful to see what might be coming in the email along with the various bidding options. That's a very reasonable upgrade from a Mini-Suite to a Club Class (supposedly now it's called Reserve Collection) Mini-Suite. Good Luck!!
  10. We were on a 14 day cruise....can't imagine how many times they might have to replace the batteries on a world cruise!! I've seen your advocating for recycling the medallions. Great idea. I also read the bit about the magnet....they are on my stackable washer and dryer along with a Princess Cruise Ship magnet!! Fun!!!
  11. Perhaps when they said "battery" to this layperson because they could tell how clueless I am. They probably meant a new RFID chip. Do you suppose they recycle those RFID chips? Why would a chip suddenly stop working effectively? Perhaps beyond the scope of this thread. But be assured, next time I will push to get a replacement or a card instead of accepting the "blow-off" party line that it will start working again soon.
  12. Just to clarify....are you talking about a combo cruise/land vacation/tour? The upgrade bid would be for your stateroom on the cruise ship but not on the hotel/lodge room.
  13. Things that make you go...."Hmmmm." I'm no expert on the matter (nor have I ever played one on TV) but that never stops me from offering my two cents worth. I wonder if a weak battery could result in a weak signal? On the final day of our 14-day cruise, my travel buddy's medallion battery died that afternoon before departure. We were told that guest services would change the battery. You know how long the line at guest services was on the final day, right? When we eventually got to the front of the line, they suggested it was a glitch and should eventually start working. 🤣 Look, I get it. Perhaps not their top priority on the last day of the cruise to be fussing with batteries. But it seems to be the party line response when it comes to medallion problems. "It will correct itself." For sure....when pigs fly. Next time, we'll know to ask for the plastic card as a replacement option.
  14. When I'm out on deck especially near the pool, I always watch for the server as I know it's very, very hard if not impossible at times for them to find the "medallion match" of who placed the order. I bet when they finally put the chip in our heads then all of this will work much better and everything will be perfect.
  15. Yes....I've heard that, too. Some prefer the guest cards over the Medallions and they make them available.
  16. On this forum? Or on another? I'm seeing the discussion about there not being a guarantee of which room you will get for taking your chances on the "bid to upgrade" ... but I'm not seeing threads about when making an initial booking having limited access to picking the room you actually want. Thanks for directing me to those lengthy threads if you are able.
  17. What I find goofy is that sometimes the price is exactly the same for "pick your own room" as "reserve a guaranteed stateroom" .... and sometimes when you click on "pick your own room" there aren't rooms to pick and you are forced to select the "reserve a guaranteed stateroom." I, for one, am not a fan of these changes.
  18. Greetings and peace to all! Has anyone noticed that there seems to be a dramatic increase on Princess' platform of the Reserve a Guaranteed Stateroom rather than being able to pick the specific stateroom you want as compared to before this whole bid to upgrade program started? Maybe it's just certain ships or bookings.....but it seems to me to have significantly increased as I watch for price reductions on existing bookings. I've even seen where the price drops but the Princess rep says, "It's only for new bookings" whereas in the past they have applied the price difference to existing bookings.
  19. I agree. I have an International Plan which kicks in automatically and only costs $10 per day for all the perks and privileges, bells and smells and whistles as if I were back home. It's the best $10 per day investment going....at least for me. Nothing new to learn or SIM card to deal with.
  20. Those who travel with me don't need the tracking system......I'm found at just about any bar! The bartenders on Princess are among the finest. I appreciate that the pours become increasingly generous as the cruise progresses along! Ole! 😉
  21. Definitely a familiar problem. I had a cancelled cruise on my app for months and months....then after I get back from my last cruise it suddenly disappeared from my app. Go figure!!!
  22. Grrrrrrrr.......come on Princess!!!! Get it together.
