  1. If that were the only balcony available, the highest bidder will win. It is not based on the original booking of a higher cabin....it's all about the highest bid. Keep in mind, however, if they have lots of staterooms in the category on which you are bidding, it's possible that even the lowest bid will be a winner if they have the availability.
  2. I agree whole heartedly.....and there are plenty of subject matter experts aboard CruiseCritic who would gladly assist!!!
  3. I agree......the app is part of the experience leading up to the vacation. FIX IT!!!!!
  4. Hold the phone.....are you saying you can bid on EZ Air fares????? Or what exactly are you saying here???? I have never heard about bidding to upgrade on airfare through Princess.
  5. I totally agree.....but part of the experience is wanting to be able to play around on the app and the website with ease....check on your booking. Add some extra OBC. Schedule a spa treatment. Look at the excursions again to be sure you've chosen the most suitable one for the port. You pay $12K for a vacation and get an app and website that is a bust. Princess may be short staffed....but they seem to have dropped their IT department which is a big mistake in this day and age.
  6. Your guardian angels all got together and said, "We gotta do something to save them!!! Congrats. You will all breathe a sigh of relief enjoying that mini-suite!
  7. Incidentally, this was the exact same approach taken by my parents when raising me. One day, I, too, miraculously started to behave!!! 🤣
  8. Steady as she goes!!! The excitement and anxiety heightens with each passing day. My fingers are crossed for you!!!
  9. Thanks for this information. I'm sure it all depends on availability and how much people are willing to bid for the upgrade. I'm going to give it a tray on an upcoming cruise. But it is a B2B in which I am currently set to remain in the same stateroom for both legs. Of course, no guarantee to stay in the same stateroom if I bid and win....plus there's the factor of paying 200% for both legs if both legs are upgraded....so I'm still weighing those issues. It all depends on the price. Thanks again for your information. Congratulations!!!!
  10. Congratulations! And wonderful news! 🥳 Do you mind my asking, what was your bid "range"? Minimum? Low? Medium? High?
  11. Great suggestions from your personal experience. Much appreciated. I certainly appreciate that there is so much to take in that every spot has its vantage point--even the bar for a 24 Karat Gold Frozen Margarita!!! YES!!!!
  12. BRAVO to USPS for actually delivering the precious cargo as scheduled. It actually took longer for the delivery company to get it to USPS than it took USPS to bring it to my doorstep. As you can see by the packaging, everybody and their brother knows your business that you're cruising soon. Jealousy abounds by those left behind. Twelve (12) days and counting!!! Time to pull out the suitcases. YAHOO!!!!!
  13. Congrats!!! And thanks for sharing the good news! It's reassuring to know that deals do exist out there. There are so many variables that come into play. Glad you were able to get the mini-suite which I am sure you will enjoy.
  14. What about going through the Canal....did you spend more of your time on the aft balcony? Or did you go to various vantage points throughout the ship all day? It's a long day through the full transit....the experience of being up front for a few forward encounters through the locks will be good to have...but then it might be nice to put our feet up and be in the comfort of the aft suite for the rest of it...especially with the heat!
  15. We're on an aft suite for Panama on Island Princess. How was the experience being in aft going through the Canal??? Any tips to share with another aft-resident for the Panama experience?
  16. This is really helpful information. WOW! I did not know that could be done this way. I also didn't realize they would limit cabin selection on the 14 day. So many interesting factoids and features of the industry to learn. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!!!
  17. That's interesting...on mine in Princess Personalizer...and in the Travel Summary, they are two separate bookings....two separate booking numbers....for my B2B. However, in my MedallionApp they are treating it as one booking and receiving the 4 cruise credits. I know on some of the Alaska cruises they offer them as two 7-day separate cruises or they also offer the exact same sailing as a 14-day. I always wondered why people would book the 14-day rather than the two 7-day cruises as a B2B in order to get the extra cruise credits. So, it is very interesting that you've booked this as a 14-day with only one booking number and yet they are giving you the 4 cruise credits! I wonder how they will charge you if you win an upgrade bid...at 200% or 400%?? Please keep in touch and let us know how you fare.
  18. If I understand how the program works, since you have two separate bookings you would be bidding for upgrades on each of the separate bookings. I have the same situation on Grand Princess in Australia this October. I'm in a balcony B2B but will see how much it would cost to bid on a mini-suite or suite. It may be too expensive since as a solo traveler you're paying 200% per leg!! IF THE PRICE IS RIGHT, I wouldn't mind having to change staterooms if each leg couldn't be upgraded to the same room as I am currently booked B2B in the same stateroom. From personal experience, we changed staterooms on a B2B aboard Sky Princess and the room stewards moved it all for us. We just needed to put items from the drawers and bathroom into our luggage and they moved that along with all the hanging clothes without having to pack those up for the room change!! It was very easy.
  19. What are you going to do???? That Grand Suite experience sounds OVER THE TOP!!! A fireplace??? And a jacuzzi??? Why would you ever need to leave the suite???? Oh....you're in Alaska....I guess there's that!!!
  20. Thank you for doing that. Those pictures are GREAT! You have a sharp camera--and you're good!!!
  21. From Princess website and their "Frequently Asked Questions" about the bidding program:
  22. Thanks for that information....and even greater thanks that we're back to sailing again at full capacity!! Keep safe!!!
  23. The system doesn't seem to allow it....perhaps because Sun Princess isn't completely finished being built?? They don't list the dining venues...it says to come back later. We can "see" excursions for all the ports....we have identified one for our first stop but we haven't tried paying for it yet. I'm sure we'll be giving it a try soon and will keep you posted.
  24. Thanks for this information....but wondering if you could explain a bit more in detail. I have not heard about going to the Passenger Services Desk and asking for an upgrade. Is that while you're on board for one cruise and want to be upgraded for a future cruise? In the upgrade, were you basically re-faring it from one category to another and you paid the difference? How does it work?
