  1. So. 9:15 PM show in Lyric last night. Invitation to Dance. Ten minutes after start of performance. In comes fellow cruiser with stack of plates with lids. Hands them down a row. Picnic ensues. Tonight was pizza night in the theater. Two different performances. Mini pizza parties. Getting strong Chastain vibes from Royal. (Atlanta reference. Great venue.) Ignoring this. The performances were entertaining. Really talented musicians, singers, dancers. Another interesting afternoon at the pool. Drinks in women's restroom. (Yes, someone took their mojito into their stall.) Dinner Italian night. Not a fan. My family is Italian. Would have selected steak, but Chops is tomorrow night. Ice show at 10:15 P.M. cancelled some technology issues. Love and Marriage with emcee "Crusin' Susan" (I have no opinion on cruise directors, but she's humorous). Fun show. Left wondering if one of the couples worked out a routine just for the show. Having such a good time we booked Oasis back to back next year. Next Cruise this morning. Yes, no deal, a measly $50.00 onboard credit. Ben and David talked us into it. Their YouTube video several weeks ago. Pondering prior to this cruise. Quirky fellow cruisers, varied food quality aside; the service from the very hard working crew shines.
  2. Not really a bad thing. But, for some on this board, glass houses and such, right? Eating and drinking in the pools and whirlpools. Common and widespread daily on this sailing. Kind of icky, we wouldn't do it. Each to his own. Not something common on our many Carnival sailings. T Shirts with graphics and/or lettering, you really don't want to explain to your youngsters, under 16 who can read. Spotted quite a few. Carnival understands this situation. Carnivals parent friendly policy bans these shirts. On the plus side, the people watching is spectacular (questionable and funny sights not ever beheld on Carnival) . The ship is fine, very clean and acceptably maintained. Service from the friendly crewmembers is excellent. Food very good to superb. Caribbean night last night was excellent. Jamaican flavor on point. Puzzled why the fantastic jerk chicken had another name on menu. I had jerk pork, hubs chicken. Both plates came with beans and rice (peas and rice), a delicious slice of plantain, and festival. Shared and enjoyed. Have loved our nightly dinners in the MDR. Ship is full. Windjammer breakfast and lunches pretty hectic. Tried one of each. Food ok. Did a look-see one dinner time. One side of the buffet is closed at dinner. Food did not look appealing. Tried a tasty ship snack sandwich in Cafe. Have Chops and Izumi dinners coming up. We have deluxe drink package. Fresh juice, elevated coffee, unlimited water, AND adult beverages. Very easy to reach the price per day we paid. Without overdoing the drinking alcoholic and non. Such are prices these days. Sticking to basic mixed drinks. Royal is using cheap fruit flavored mixers for frozen. Too artificial for our tastes. But not for the crowd on this ship. (Most drinking group of passengers of any cruise we have ever been on. Just an observation) If you go for quality over quantity, very easy to make package worth it. Dismayed to discover very grungy mattress pad under Royal monogrammed sheets. Happy we packed brand new shrink wrapped 1 1/2 inch memory foam topper. Queen size fit in our large suitcase. Also packed king fitted sheet. Turned topper sideways. Poor mattress, questionable topper sitch solved. Wonderful steward brought three new fluffy pillows. Inside cabin luxury bed! BTW, even with full sized body wash, shampoo and conditioner, sunscreen tubes, two small battery powered fans, AND mattress pad and sheet; our large suitcase only weighed 40 pounds. We happily gave Delta $30.00 to check it. Don't me started on the Royal ratty bath towels and sandpaper wash cloths..... More later....someone set up a picnic in the Lyric last night 20min in to Invitation to Dance....1st floor, middle rows.
  3. We bought a queen memory foam topper. It's vacum packed and very compact. Fits in our somewhat large suitcase we are going to check. It's cylinder shaped. Also a fitted king sheet. We will leave the topper on the ship. It was 30.00 on Amazon.
  4. It's Adventure specifically. I noticed good reviews on the internet access for the most part. But poster did not mention if they used a VPN
  5. We use ExpressVPN. How well does Voom work with a VPN on your device?
  6. I don't think this poster is talking about the correct shore excursion. Both ParoDeeJay, and Nu Yawk did VERY recent YouTube videos of this excursion. NOTHING as described by the original poster. Beautiful resort, nice offerings.
  7. I made a shake gesture at one of these and security posted themselves nearby asap. LOL. Watched and glared until we departed.....
  8. Yes, 20.00 per cruise. It's our only casino game. Adventure cruise coming up. Hope they have one. It's silly mindless entertainment. We did win $100.00 on one many years ago.
  9. 45 days away here. Emailed Royal and now have late dining confirmed.
  10. Adventure of the Seas in May. Any of our favorite libations on offer? We enjoy the occasional Pisco,Sour. Pre dinner sherry, after dinner port. Did not see these on offer on any of the online posted bar menus.
  11. See my post "Stewed slop". Not exaggerating. The food looked atrocious. Even the most basic meal breakfast. And a standard hamburger in the Windjammer. The horrid economy and Royal over extending themselves financially, is a terrible combination. Totally wishing I had re thought choice of cruise companies when I purchased May 2023. And we are not upscale cruisers. We might be back to our much maligned cruise line of choice next year. Glad we noticed the slide in reviews last July and purchased a 3 night meal package last July. Might help on our upcoming Adventure sail.
  12. New Adventure of the Seas YouTube video out. The channel's coverage was positive. Including the food. I was struck by how incredibly unappetizing the Windjammer food looked. Including how many stations offered mystery meat stews in various shades of brown. And cheap carbs to pour the concoction over. And same plain veggies day after day, yellowing lettuce. MDR, marginally better. Glad we purchased a 3 meal package.. Having major buyers regret a few months before we sail.
  13. Just checked a third time today. RCI website is showing zero "deals" for our May Adventure cruise. The beverage package price is the same as it has been the past six months, 3 meal package-ditto.....so you long term cruisers with this company, normal? But the website gleefully proclaims "Cyber Monday deals, favorites 50% off" What a load of rubbish.
  14. Nightmare scenario-sounds like this actually happened to this couple. Remember NCL was having a similar situation, but it involved items being left in their account shopping cart. Don't know what Royal's excuse is.
  15. The roll out video made it look cramped, crowded. And then there's the DJ everyone noticed.
  16. Not Labadee specifically. Recent news story on the Dominican. Yuck article about a Canadian couple picking up hook worms in their feet. Has anyone ever picked these up at Labadee? My husband and I have happily/blissfully ignorantly swum, and barefoot beached it all over the Caribbean. Just now finding out about both of these ugly bugglies. (Yes I know Sea Lice are cute tiny tempermental baby jellyfish not insects)
  17. I have been binging on YouTube cruise vloggers. I noticed one instance where 5 were in a MDR vlogging a meal at the same time. I can understand this on sailings where the majority of guests are vloggers, travel agents, ect. But-anyone else find this a teensy bit disruptive? Anyone ever witnessed this on a normal sailing?
  18. My husband and I will eat in two specialty restaurants our next cruise. We are not eating in Chops. So, not the Chops plus one situation. If we purchase the individual discounts-online,prior to the cruise, are we obligated to wait until we board to make reservations? Do the individual discounts require redemption only on specified nights? I was reading comments indicating packages obligate a specialty restaurant the first night. Other comments on discounts seem to indicate Royal is serving "tasting menu" style meals with the discounts. The discounted meals are of lesser quality and/or smaller portion sizes. Anyone experience this?
  19. Up-scaling our morning beverages with our beverage package. Is fresh coffee and squeezed juice on offer at the Windjammer bar in the morning? And is it possible to order the fresh juice, and coffee in the MDR at breakfast? Or do we need to obtain from Cafe Promenade, and carry it in?
