  1. I think I am going to book an excursion for this port that lasts around 3.5 hours. After I am done, what is there to do? I have about 4 hours that I can fill. The excursion is a fortress and park tour, so, maybe a nearby (to the port) beach or something of that nature? Just hop in a cab, or what? Suggestions?

  2. Hey Blue, I ended up booking the excursion. After looking at the cost of the ferry and the timing, the excursion does work well for me. Shore ex told me we get back to the ship around 1:30, so that will leave me a couple hours to explore Tortola. Thoughts on how I should spend that?

  3. Hi Blue, thanks for the tips. I do like that option 3. I couldn't find that ferry schedule when I was looking earlier, How do I find that? Where is the ferry terminal located? Near the ship pier? I Want to explore the baths and enjoy anything I should there so, your suggestions are much appreciated. There is a snack bar there, correct?

  4. Rent a car and drive the island. Roads are empty. We drove out to the island's best beach Half Moon Bay (our first ever Caribbean resort which is now in ruins), looked at villages and churches, went up to the look-out above English Harbour, dropped in at Nelson's Dockyard (naff tourist trap) and swam from the public beach at Curtain Bluff. A great day out. We did this in 2013 and will be doing it again in a month's time.

How long did it take to rent the car? How much? Where is the car rental place?

  5. My Pearl cruise is going to Tortola this december. I am worried it may be changed or cancelled. Been reading that many ships are having Tortola dropped. Does anyone have any additional info about Tortola? I know they are updating the pier in a major way, but it seems like some ships are stopping there sometimes. What's the skinny?

  6. I have a mid-ship mini-suite (Category MB) booked on Breakaway in 3 weeks, and I've always wanted an aft balcony, so when I saw that aft balconies (category B1) have gone down in price, I called to see if I could change to an aft balcony. My TA called NCL, who said that since cat. B1 is a lower price point (and thus less desirable) category than MB mini suites (in which the only difference from a regular balcony cabin is the size of the bathroom), I could not downgrade.

Now, I'm not looking for OBC or a refund of the difference, and I told him I didn't care that I paid more, I would prefer an aft balcony. He didn't understand why I wanted a cabin at the back of the ship over a mid-ship cabin with a larger bathroom. I guess he's never been in an aft balcony.

If NCL is trying to free up the "more desirable" and more expensive cabins, why wouldn't they want me to give up my MB for an aft balcony? Doesn't make sense.

Actually, this can be done. I have personally had this happen. The problem is the people you are talking to does not understand it is doable and your TA probably isn't doing everything they can do get it done. Basically they will move you, however, they will not refund you any of the difference (which you already explained you don't care about) so, if its still all the same, try again, don't take no for an answer.
