  1. Oh dear, hopefully things will improve by the time we board-in Rome. Not surprised about ship tours not being good, fewer operators than in the past and private tours set their own prices. Ones that are good are booked, left overs get picked up by the cruise lines
  2. In the many cruises we have done, we have never done a ship’s tour for exactly those reasons. We have SM and now have two booked in order to use those credits. One to Taormina (dreading a packed bus) and one to Olympia at Katakolon. Looking forward to the cruise
  3. We will be embarking on the Riviera on 10/20 in Rome. Our first O cruise, just wondering how current passengers are finding the food and the ship in general. Yes, I am more than certain we will enjoy it but curious for current input
  4. Oceania is not an inexpensive cruise line. Just pay for convenient travel to the port
  5. Such a great link! Thank you, has allowed us to rethink our plans this upcoming Riviera cruise end of October. We are not familiar with Malta, have been reading about it, but this helped put resources together! Thank you
  6. And if you test positive, will you quarantine
  7. Suwar18, your experience in Venice will be immensely improved by this choice! Have a wonderful time
  8. Staying in Mestre is such a different experience, so not worth it. Stay in Venice, pay a porter or just drag your bags. You will never regret staying in Venice proper. The amount of time you will waste going back and forth, you will really wish you made a different choice
  9. Has anyone been on the Oceania excursion from Katakolon to Olympia ? Specifically, I am wondering does it go directly to the sight or are there stops at sales sites, which I prefer to avoid
  10. The ride is 90-120 minutes from Marco Polo airport to the Trieste cruise terminal
  11. You could take the Hyatt water taxi/ shuttle to the airport and from there arrange a taxi to Trieste. On cruise day, there will be many taxis or car services to take you there. You can buy the NCL transfer or coordinate with others on your cruise to share a taxi to Trieste
  12. I do not think any Ship/cruise line currently has the fortitude to deny any passengers entry to a dining facility, except Cunard. But, cruising is now so ubiquitous that what maybe acceptable to some and absolutely unacceptable to others is so debatable. “Country Club casual” means nothing to those who have never been part of a “country club” and understand the dress code
  13. Hlitner , I remember way, way back in 2003, when we started cruising the Med!
  14. There are so many gratuitous comments about, “ I only book, blah, blah, itinerary or cabin” these posts are really not helpful at all for those looking for information about Oceania cruises
  15. Well, I certainly intend to bring my own wines on board, and will happily pay the corkage fee. But one or two wines, looked interesting and maybe worth a try
  16. Try Ci Siamo restaurant, Blue Smoke, Union Square Cafe
  17. Enjoy some wonderful restaurants and sites/sights in NYC
  18. While beyond not ideal , this is the problem when booking any cruise in the Atlantic or Gulf of Mexico during mid August through mid October. The hurt I can unpredictably is just vile
  19. I just saw a copy of a Main Dining Room menu posted that had wine pairings with several menu offerings. Are any of those wines available with the premium beverage package? May I order a glass of one of the wines offered as part of my package

    Rome Cabs

Just booked transfer from Rome to Civitavecchia with Rome cabs, current rate is 160 euros
  21. Quite by happenstance, today, Saturday afternoon, I received a call from an Oceania rep, he was calling because I had saved two cruises and he was looking to try and sell me on booking but I got him to cancel my excursion instead on my booked cruise! Not sure why I answered the phone from an unknown number, so not my nature, but my problem solved
  22. Venice hotels can be difficult to reach with luggage. Great prices often reflect locations that are more circuitous and while absolutely lovely, require crossing multiple small bridges. Young and adventurous, not so bad, older and less mobile, very difficult
  23. I booked a private car for 4 persons from Trieste cruise terminal to Venice and water taxi to Gritti Palace and to St. Regis for 370 euros from Venice private transfers. No need to drag luggage
