  1. I've forgotten more about financial planning than my late father, a CFP, ever knew. I'm also a CPA, but you wouldn't want me doing your business taxes. Things aren't always as a few letters behind a name would lead you to believe.
  2. I'm no risotto expert, but I did cook it once (never again). Done correctly, it takes one person, with constant stirring and attention, over 30-min to make. It can't sit around once it's done or it will turn into a near-solid mass that will stick to the wall and never move. So, it can't be made "on the fly", and it can't sit around too long. Cagney's obviously serves it enough to make it work (although many of us can attest to au gratin potatoes that were well past their prime), but since it's not tagged as vegetarian, it's likely made from beef stock. You can't just quickly "throw together" a risotto made from veg stock as a substitute (without using the aforementioned Minute Rice). I've never ordered it at Cagney's, so I have no idea if it can even be considered a true risotto.
  3. Yep, "Ain't got no time to read the whole freaking 3-post thread!"
  4. Most reward cards need to be actually cancelled for certain amount of time. Your expired card may still be "active" (although you should have received a new one) which wouldn't allow you to re-up on the bonus points. But, check it out. If it has been cancelled, it's certainly been long enough that you should be able to open a new account.
  5. I totally agree about the "lecture". Uncalled for. But yeah, you don't just have risotto randomly sitting around, or quickly throw it together. Minute Rice and some vegetable broth, sure. But not risotto.
  6. I have no skin in the vegetarian game, so I don't care. But, you've obviously never made an authentic (or even semi-respectable) risotto.
  7. That is strange. I have an S22 and my wife has an S24. Navigator works just fine. Are you talking about when you're on the ship? We haven't experienced that yet.
  8. There are a number of other pretty cool CCers around, if you look hard enough. Although that number is quite limited.
  9. Seriously. Who does that? One who doesn't mind food being "thrown overboard", I guess.
  10. Sure, but the 47 other bars on the ship also work. 🙃
  11. It's always in the afternoon. Dinner reservations won't be a problem. Been to one. Just long enough to know it will be the only one.
  12. It's called the TV. I know it doesn't print, but it still gives you what you need. Just curious, how old is your android?
  13. I've not had a bad steak. But then, I can eat it from Medium down to Still Mooing. My wife, on the other hand, must have a bright, pink Medium. She's learned to enjoy everything else and take the steak however she gets it. She did try the trout once, never again. No surprise to her that it's gone.
  14. That, and they have no clue what a "bait and switch" actually is.
  15. Lol. I see you're one of those "bribe" people. Such nonsense. Insulted? Yeah, right.
  16. Interesting. I just looked up my flight in August using a VPN. I was able to access, and go to the "Cancel Flight" page, with only my first and last name, and confirmation number. No need to login, no other identity confirmation. It's not just Carnival, and it's scary as hell.
  17. I absolutely agree with this, and the rest of your post, right up to the point where they (or others) start trying to shift the blame -- "XYZ cruise company should have protected these people!!". That's when my grace is lost.
  18. Exactly. Your example was an unusual and rare occurrence. It's never happened to us in 10 cruises. So, to say everyone should show up at their assigned time because otherwise it's a problem, or things won't run smoothly, simply isn't true. If you choose to arrive at the port before noon for a mega-ship, regardless of your check-in time, there is going to be a line. That's not problem. That's just the way it is. It's always run surprisingly smoothly for us.
  19. Not really. I've always arrived whenever I wish, regardless of my scheduled arrival time, and have always had a smooth check-in. This was all implemented when social distancing was still a thing. It's no longer necessary.
  20. That is absolutely your prerogative, and everyone's choice. It makes no sense to spend good money if you're going to be stressed about the outcome. That never happens on a land vacation. Happy trails!
  21. I have no problem with anyone's principles or priorities. As I get older, my time starts taking more and more priority. It's a personal choice what principles I choose to devote my time. A principle over a few dollars isn't one of them. To each their own.
  22. Not charged, eh? In that case, I'm sure he informed you of every drink he had. 🤣
  23. That certainly didn't work for us. We each had a 10%, but when my PCC applied it, she only applied mine and I had to call again to get my wife's applied. If my wife hadn't also had the discount, she wouldn't have got it. Have you looked at your actual confirmation that shows the charges for each guest? If you both got it, good for you.
  24. Definitely not talking about the NCL card, but a better option. We have Sapphire Preferred. Not as as good as Reserve, but also not nearly the cost.
  25. Your persistence is admirable (I think). I wouldn't waste my time on a simple email for $4.00.
