  1. @Thrak,

yes, I told my mom and her husband that they needed to take a picture of the items and when they came back from the sent out laundry to go through everything. But of course they tend to go on longer cruises and get caught up in everything and just did not check what they sent. so they discovered the Capri pants missing, but on the last day of the cruise or after they got home -either way I’m sure they’ve been donated to someone.

i’m glad your wife found her item & hopefully the skinny leg pants found their correct Home as well.

  2. And who knows with all the dining changes that post #8 is correct. Princess doesn’t seem to update its websites very fast.

The news reports are up to date, but not always deck plans or other stuff.

I think June 17th, 2024  & after there will be more answers & maybe more frustrations?

More for passengers to report after that of their experience.

  3. @Thrak

keep asking for the laundry tokens ,my mom has done it as recent as April 2024 and had luck. Seems to be ship to ship. They gladly gave them to her on the Emerald Princess at guest services. Her husband who is also elite was able to send his items out that he wanted. My mom just doesn’t trust her fancy clothes or any clothes for that matter in the commercial wash machines. She’s also had clothing items lost by Princess ,but didn’t discover it because she didn’t remember what she had sent and it never came back ,her fault sort of, but she prefers to do her own laundry.

  4. See post #7. Sun Princess reservations not affected.

    Speciality not affected.

Main D.R. Reservations for now to September 13, 2024 cruises not affected.

If your cruise is September 14, 2024 & after then you can start to make your reservations on June 17, 2024 if the app is up and working at that time.

This is what Princess is saying ,so if somebody has different information that would probably be helpful.

Maybe everything is “ messed” up with the dining reservations right now??

  5. @pepbcn28

I don’t think there are many lunch options available on Caribbean Princess to use your casual dining for lunch. ( Vines? I don’t know if they’re open lunch hours or 4 PM on?)

Don’t base getting or having Premier package on that basis.

Perhaps a recent cruiser can inform from Caribbean Princess or maybe there is a live from?

  6. Here’s the information from Princess. No mention of paid in full or loyalty level,so?? Sun Princess different.

Our guests have been delighted with the dining flexibility aboard Sun Princess and we’re pleased to extend the concept to all the other ships in our fleet,” said Sami Kohen, Princess Cruises vice president of food and beverage.  “Now whether guests prefer an early seating every evening, or change things up every night, or even change their mind, these flexible dining options ensure that their dining preference is effortlessly accommodated.”
Starting on April 15, 2024, the new approach will launch on Princess voyages departing September 14, 2024 and beyond. To support these changes and the transition to the new system, main dining reservations that already have been made for voyages sailing September 14 and beyond for any ship except Sun Princess will be cancelled. Main dining reservations for guests sailing through September 13 will not be affected.
Starting June 17, booked guests will be able to use the app ahead of their voyage to opt for traditional seating in a dedicated dining room with the same waiter, same table and same time each night, or flexible dining, allowing them to enjoy dinner at any available time and table size of their choosing in either the Reservable or Open Seating dining rooms.
This change does not affect guests booked in specialty dining restaurants or suite or reserve collection accommodations, who enjoy a dedicated dining room on Princess ships, where no reservations are required.

  7. @Mississippian

just curious… I know you are not on The Sky right now as you have disembarked. Did you ever inquire at entrance to the “ Reserve Dining room “with a crew member? Or you just assumed it was reserved or reservation only & not Reserve class? As others have said reserve class dining is just a very small section of one of the dining rooms -rest of that DR open to everyone else normal circumstances.

Also at podium in the aft dining room- did you ask to be seated? Or just saw the sign and walked away?

The crew would have suggested where you could dine if you asked.

We’ll now you know what to expect on your next Princess cruise if you have a next, just ask a crew member.  Also you can make reservations for a specific dining room and then you would know the location next time.

I have Platinum status.  I had made some dinner reservations for our September cruise to Norway, but they got removed from the Princess App when they did the most recent maintenance.

I think I read somewhere that I will be able to make reservations again starting June 17.  Is that correct?  If not, when will I be able to remake my dinner reservations for this cruise?

    Thanks.

For the new dining program, yes supposedly June 17th and beyond is when one may start making reservations as long as they have everything set up properly. This is for cruises on or after September 14, 2024.

I don’t think much has changed on the luggage….

How many bags do you have?

Make sure you keep with you at all times a bag with your medicine if you take any, toiletries, camera if you have one , & anything that you need access on the train to the Denali Lodge.
If you only have one piece of big luggage, then your one tag would be fine, and hopefully it says join me tonight.
If you have two pieces of large luggage, probably one needs to say join me tonight( Denali lodge) & 1 to say join me in Anchorage or Fairbanks, depending on where your cruise tour ends.(in this bag would be anything that you do not want until you fly back home or wherever your final destination may be)

  10. @cusematt4

I do not believe either of the lodges mentioned have a gym. But there are walking trails and hiking options.

Denali wilderness has a fire pit, but not sure if they tell stories around it. Don’t remember any music or piano bar, maybe they have that currently? Most centers around outdoor activities or nature in the theater in one of the lodges.

We were not on a connoisseur tour ,but a land tour with a Princess cruise after and we did not have a lot of free time per se. Everything was seamless they gave us what time we needed to do what and what time we needed to put luggage out, etc.

what time we needed to be on a bus  & what time we needed to be on a train, etc.

In the evening we were exhausted. We did have the most time at the Mt McKinley Lodge and we took the complementary bus into Talkeetna way before our tour time  to see the sled dogs and we were able to explore around that town. Otherwise, in Denali, we were only there for one night and the tundra wilderness tour was almost immediately after we arrived and checked in. So not a lot of free time for us.

    Yours might be different timing?

    Hello

Do we still get good, old fashioned, paper tickets for our excursions booked through the ship?  And are they in our cabin already on embarkation day?

Yes, paper tickets and make sure that once you receive them, look at all of them and make sure they are your tour tickets with the tour that you signed up for. Just read on one of the live forums recently that a couple missed their excursion because they had somebody else’s tour ticket in their envelope and they met at the wrong time and they tour was gone or almost gone. The shore excursion desk was not very sympathetic to the couple and they should’ve been.

    Just double check everything.

  12. $50 obc per state room/ cabin is ridiculous in my opinion. Since Princess is not very Solo friendly at the very least offer $50 per passenger in the cabin .

So for those of you that received these letters, what amount would be reasonable to get you to come back to Princess? I have cruised Princess the most, but have not cruised for quite awhile just because… So I’m not necessarily a Princess cheerleader .I’m open to all cruise lines, so I’m just curious. Or would no amount be satisfactory ?

Are casual dining locations open for lunch on sea days ?

Probably for accurate information you would need to look at the ship that you’re going on or potentially going on and see if somebody has posted the patters/event listings or mentioned it in one of their lives from.
Some ships have more than 2 casual places, but average 2. So not much choice.

if you post the ship ( I think you might be on the Caribbean princess? )that you’re going on, maybe somebody can chime in & tell their experience of what was open for lunch on a sea day. I seem to have read somewhere that a venue was open on a sea day.

I believe the Caribbean princess only has vines and maybe a few pop-ups.

By the way, I don’t believe any of the casual places take a reservation, but maybe steamers and planks does?? Because they are pop ups.

The date you are planning on flying must have an extra flight with Alaska Air.  Their normal ORD-ANC departures leave in the morning during daylight hours.

It’s an overnight flight. Leaves on July 26th arrives on 27th at 4:30 am. AS 565.

At first glance, I didn’t see it either. I was right with you on a special flight ,but obviously OP/ author knows what flight they have and that they’re valid.

  15. @wrongwaywatson enjoy your Alaska cruise.

How are you getting from the airport to the ship? I am sure the Princess transfer bus is probably the way to go? Does any of your paperwork say how early they start transporting people to the ship? otherwise, you’re going  be finding a pillow and a blanket  & food beyond security in the Anchorage airport, you may have a long time to wait, which obviously is out of your control.

I am sure there’s information somewhere out there how soon they start transporting passengers. ( 9 am/10am??)

We did the land tour first and then the cruise, so we flew into Anchorage rented a car for 24 hours then went back to the airport the next morning and caught the Princess bus and then went on the land tour portion,so my scenario was different. I have nothing to add to it.

  16. @rjack22 well darn on the max age limit for the excursion you want, I had never seen this, but sure enough it’s right there in print on the excursion notes as well as, I believe a minimum age.

Hope you find another excursion in Grand Turk that is not age restricted. Is there perhaps a snorkel only excursion desk ( local vendor) at the dock/ pier you can do? Or a beach excursion with a place to snorkel?
