  1. Extension cords with surge and without are allowed on Princess, but subject to electrical department onboard for testing or inspection.( think for cpap machine- although Princess can usually provided one for use)

power strips are not extension cords per se-they ARE allowed without a surge  protector ,but still onboard electrical department has final say.

not difficult to tell what power strip is not surge protected, packaging tells that information for consumers and electrical department onboard knows or can test it.

I have first hand knowledge. Once on a cruise out of San Pedro, California port - port security took my non surge power strip that I had taken on multiple princess cruises & gave me a receipt. Told me if it was approved they would give it back to me .shortly after boarding. I got a call from guest services to come pick up my power strip, I was good to go.

  2. Some food items are complimentary, once on the ship go into your app for ocean now and it will tell you what is included or a charge. Things change ,but this is what I show that is complimentary. Sandwiches,French fries, salads, pizza, soup, chilli, burgers, fruit cup ,& more. Picture is just an example.

  3. Agree with previous posts.

Here is what is allowed & prohibited straight from Princess.com

Click menu top left hand side of screen ,then help, then at bottom is FAQ’s

Click prepare for your cruise and prohibited items are there.

Lots of other information under FAQ’s

Electrical devices such as small fans, multi plug box outlets/adaptors, power strips/extension cords without surge protectors and electric extension cords with surge protectors are allowed onboard when used with proper caution and following inspection/tests from the onboard electrical department. However, if such devices are determined to pose a hazard then they will be removed and returned the last day of the cruise prior to debark.

Not necessarily on Princess.com -No electric: clothes steamers, immersion heaters, coffee pots, heating blankets , rice cookers, etc.

  4. @PrincessArlena'sDad do you use a travel agent or do you book straight through princess.com? You don’t have to answer obviously.
But I highly recommend for all your questions an experienced travel agent that cruises often. Sounds as if this is a very big trip for five people and you want to make sure that you get your questions answered and the things that you want to see & do addressed .There are many options as you can see taking an Alaska cruise & land tour. I personally like to do a land tour first because you’re on the go every day even though everything is very organized and seamless for the most part. Then after your land -do a cruise because a lot of it is scenic viewing and you can relax.

For your second choice, Hawaii, I don’t know if you meant a cruise to Hawaii or land vacation ,but if you only have a one time chance to see Hawaii, then I would somehow work a cruise into it so you can see all the islands or Island hop if you do just a land tour- each island offers a little bit of different things to do. If just doing a land vacation to Hawaii ,depending on where you fly from -go into Honolulu spend a couple days there, then island hop to each of the other islands for minimum three days each place. Lots of things to do in each one of them and you can easily spend a week to two weeks in each island, but if you’ve never been to Hawaii before I would say get a taste of all of them while you’re there .

  5. @GloriaF if you go to princess.com and in the upper left-hand corner, there is a menu .type in the search button soda packages and all of them will come up including the zero alcohol package which includes water and soda.
You may also look under princess.com and then go to onboard our ships, and food & dining.

I am assuming you’ve done your homework on the plus package as well? princess.com has lots of information and it tells you exactly what each package includes.

If you’ve already booked your cruise, you can go under manage my booking and you can do a mock “ look”,so you can see the prices for the beverage offerings.

  6. Pretty sure unlimited specialty dining with the Premier cruise package means ….unlimited specialty dining once per day/evening versus the two that was included per voyage previously.

Yes, I see how everyone’s interpretation would be different and I’m sure it’s going to be ship by ship as far as what’s allowed.
Up until now quite a few posters/people have had plenty of food for 1 specialty dinner per evening,

I just can’t imagine that it means you can go multiple times an evening with a reservation or without. Pretty sure the unlimited dining means you can go once per evening as long as there is a reservation or space for you.
Not everyone’s going to be able to dine on their first choice of time. Only so many tables & wait staff & time slots.

  7. Princess.com - passage contract- only a portion

    • For Guests of legal drinking age, an allowance of one (1) bottle of wine or champagne (750 mL in volume or less) per Guest per Voyage may be presented to security during embarkation. A US $20.00 corkage fee will be charged should Guests wish to consume their wine or champagne in the ship’s public areas.
      • A US $20.00 corkage fee (which is subject to change without notice) will apply to each additional bottle (750 mL in volume or less) beyond the one-bottle per Guest per Voyage allowance. Limitations apply, and wine brought in quantities deemed to be excessive by the vessel or security will be refused.
      • Guests are also prohibited from bringing water, sodas and other non-alcoholic beverages on board that are packaged in bottles. A small quantity of non-alcoholic beverages (i.e., sparkling water, sodas, juice, milk) packaged in cans or cartons may be brought on board on embarkation day, only if carried on in Guests’ hand luggage (not in checked luggage). A small quantity is considered a maximum of 12 sealed, unopened cans/cartons of 12 ounces each or less per person.  Guests will be asked to discard open beverages in plastic containers prior to boarding.

  8. I don’t know how they (SD)would keep track of someone that just has an appetizer and entree and comes back later for desert  & coffee. And that would go for people on the premier package and the pay as you go package .I would think that would be a nightmare, even if they had room for you at a table, two times in one night.
I would say go to the main dining room later in the evening before they close and have your dessert and coffee. Yes, it’s more than likely a different dessert ,but yes see what the DR  manager says  in SD ,once onboard.

  9. @moonstaring I guess I don’t understand your question about the $10 additional entrée charge in a specialty restaurant (personally I’ve never heard of this if you have a package -it’s included- 1 entree per person. If you don’t have a package, you have paid $39 for all three courses whether you consume them or not )

You have now stated that you have the Premier package- then you will not pay any additional entree fee except for the up charged items.

So if you only want an entrée, you’ve already paid for it .

if you would like to have an appetizer, an entrée, and a dessert -you’ve already paid for it in your premier package.
    Is that what you meant?

or do you wish to have the fantastic journey , an appetizer, two entrées, and a dessert for 1 person?

For the fantastic journey, you pay $30 per person, but both of you do not have to order it, You may, but it can be made for one person and both of you enjoy it. You pay whatever the going rate is +18% gratuity/service charge  to dine at Catch by Rudi.  I believe it’s $39 per person on most ships. You get one appetizer , one entrée, & One dessert per person. The surcharges on the menu are in addition to the $39.

I am sure there are exceptions, to more than 1 appetizer, just have to ask when you get there.

You may reserve on the app ahead of your voyage.( pay at that time) as far as the surcharges, you will pay those the night of dining with your onboard credit card or onboard credit -whatever you have attached to your folio.

unless you have premier cruise package, then specialty dining included in package, May still make reservations though.

  11. In my opinion- for quite some time now- the reason why you can’t swap your elite minibar for specialty coffee is because there is no longer a standalone coffee package .You either purchase the plus or the premier  cruise package that includes special coffees or zero alcohol package……

That’s why they can’t swap it one for one. Yes it was a nice perk while it lasted. But things change and evolve. I still think the coffee prices on Princess for specialty coffee without any package is not a bad price.( average $4.)

How many of you go to your local coffeehouse / Starbucks/ Dutch Bros, etc. every single morning and pay way more than what Princess is offering?

There are reasons why you can’t swap certain items -it’s just not possible to do it one to one for the minibar and a specialty coffee.

Thank goodness there are choices to be made in the World. Yes, give your vacation $ to another cruise line or land based operator/ hotel, airline. Etc. It’s okay.

I know we get 8 miniature spirits and a number of cans of soft drinks.  Does anyone know if you can swap your cans of soft drinks for cans of ginger ale?

Yes as long as ginger ale comes in cans you can swap.
Here’s what comes as Elite set up. ( brands may vary) Here is the sodas usually onboard,so you can swap for those as well.
So if you want all ginger ale you may swap for that. If you don’t want gin, can swap it one for one - for let’s say vodka. If you don’t want any small bottles of alcohol and want all beer, swap one for one. Many choices. Just can not get what they don’t have. Pretty sure you can not swap for more than 10 alcohol bottles. Can remove all alcohol and get a mix of water, soda, etc.

yes 8 -50 ml bottles of alcohol and 2 beers in initial set up.

First time on Princess, sailing Caribbean Princess, is Vines open as a casual dining venue for dinner?

I believe Vines is open at 10 or 11 am to 11pm on sea days- approximately . Port days 5 pm- 11pm approximately. See if you can get ahold of a recent Caribbean Princess Patter/ event listing. Here’s the menu if you haven’t seen it.IMG_9417.thumb.jpeg.b033c526311e6bd6d046155f04c8a8f5.jpeg

  14. Perhaps it’s the number of members you told them would be attending. Did all 450 members want to attend a M & G? That would be a very big number to accommodate . Maybe that’s all Princess could offer was Princess Live.

I have organized & participated in many M & G on Princess, but never that large, usually not as many show up because they forget, they get busy doing something else at the same time ,they sleep in, etc. etc.

I have been on 1 NCL cruise and yes very well organized and they were happy to have the M & G. Captain and officers showed up, offered a galley tour later in cruise to just the group, hotel manager sent chocolates, and they had snacks at M & G.

  15. Interesting. Doesn’t seem normal. I did a mock booking  for exactly what you said and yeah, the price seems very high and different, than the $799./ person. Although it does say an average of $799 per person, but that’s a lot more money. ($1,719./ person- base fareIMG_1645.thumb.jpeg.ba0772fdb0182253bf0f6d87a48afb46.jpeg

I did a mock booking for another cruise itinerary and it comes up exactly what it says on the average.

  16. There is currently a Live from The Sun Princess from Barcelona to Southampton. Perhaps you could ask them.

But 2026 is along -long away . Perhaps check in March of 2026.

I would imagine that they’re constantly checking on each voyage how many people actually are interested in the winemaker dinner and they go from there ,whether to have it or not.

  17. @kluv2cruz here’s the shelf stable brands and flavors at a grocery store near me.   Check out your store & bring with you on your cruise.

Not sure how they would make lattes for you with your oat milk, but worth a try or did you just need it for cereal or as a creamer for your coffee.

Do you have to pick traditional or reserved time dining before embarkation? What is the difference between Select restaurants and Specialty restaurants?

No you do not have to select traditional or reserved time for dinner, if you don’t wish to.  If you wish to dine at a particular time in the dining room ,then before you embark, yes it’s advisable to make a reservation. If you like to just go with the flow, then it is possible to make a reservation once you get onboard if there are any reservations available . The main dining room also serves breakfast and lunch and no reservations are needed for that. You just show up between the hours that they’re open. Check your patter a.k.a. newsletter and it will have which dining room is serving lunch ( sea days) and breakfast and the times that they are open.
There is a walk in restaurant.( included in cruise fare) for dinner.

There is also the buffet for breakfast ,lunch ,and dinner. And that is included in your cruise fare.

For a fee you may wish to do specialty dinner like Italian (Sabatini’s) or steakhouse( Crown Grill) on Regal Princess.  Make a reservation on the app or the Web version. Once you book your cruise and it will tell you the price. Or casual dining -Alfredo’s pizzeria, Ocean Terrace, or Vines.( usually no reservations are needed. It’s a lower fee, then specialty dining.)

Here is the main DR dinner venues for Regal:

    Regal Princess 2024 or 2025?

Symphony ( mid deck 5)- Traditional 5 pm ( private or shared table) or  7:30pm( private table only)

    Allegro (aft deck 6)-reservable -5 pm - 8:40 pm,every 20 minute reservation time slots

Concerto-(mid deck 6)-walk in & Reserve Collection DR

princess.com has lots of information for you as well.

also if you don’t already have a travel agent that is experienced in cruises, you should find one in your local area or ask family and friends for a recommendation.travel agents that cruise often have many of these answers for you and I highly recommend booking with one of them.

you have a choice on princess to book standard cruise fare, plus cruise fare package ,or premier cruise fare package and all of that information is on princess.com

I don’t know what you mean by select restaurants? I have not heard that term before. Maybe you mean casual? And I included the names of the casual above.
