Question about DR menu and room service
kywildcatfanone replied to kywildcatfanone's topic in Princess Cruises
Okay. No one on the Celebrity forum has mentioned any upcharge for just having MDR food delivered other than if you should tip. I was aware of the 11pm ending, which isn't an issue for me from a stand point of dinner, lol. As far as it being 24/7 free with Princess, someone said that that is only true in suites. -
Question about DR menu and room service
kywildcatfanone replied to kywildcatfanone's topic in Princess Cruises
So not to just anyone. Maybe that is why I haven't heard of it before, since we don't do suites. -
I feel kind of dumb not knowing this, but we are going on our first non Princess cruise next week with Celebrity just to try something different. I found out via threads on their board that you can order from the DR menu via room service and they will deliver to your room. I had never thought of that, does Princess offer this? We haven't been to a DR in years on Princess, but I would consider ordering from the DR menu for room service if it was available.

Can you be any more descriptive?
-
Yep, and my posting that was not to imply one list over the other, but the point out the inconsistency. I did print out the eDocs since this is my first Celebrity cruise, and read it, and saw that it didn't mention extension cords or power strips.
-
And in the customer eDocs there is no mention of electrical extension cords. Not sure why, but this is what is likely to be read by passengers: Security Screening And Prohibited Items Celebrity Cruises highest priority is to ensure the safety and security of all guests. In order to maintain an effective and meaningful security environment and to comply with international and national security laws, regulations and guidelines, Celebrity Cruises has established strict security procedures in the seaport terminals we utilize and onboard all our vessels. These measures include screening all guests and their personal property. For the safety of our guests and crew there are certain items that are not allowed onboard. If these are found they will be confiscated. Alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs, flammable liquids, explosives, and dangerous chemicals will not be returned. Firearms & Ammunition, including realistic replicas, Sharp Objects, including knives and scissors* , Illegal Drugs & Substances , Candles & Incense, Coffee Makers, Clothes Irons/Steamers & Hot Plates , Baseball Bats, Hockey Sticks, Cricket Bats, Bows and Arrows, Skateboards & Surfboards, Martial Arts Gear, Self-Defense Gear, including handcuffs, pepper spray and night sticks, Flammable Liquids and Explosives, including lighter fluid and fireworks, HAM Radios, Dangerous Chemicals, including bleach and paint; Alcoholic Beverages**; Hookah Pipes. *Personal grooming items such as safety razors are allowed. Scissors with blade length less than 4 inches are allowed. **Two bottles of wine per stateroom are allowed on embarkation

I am taking a couple of options including one that has no cord, and one that has a short cord in my carry on. I have a CPAP machine to deal with. I did request an extension cord. We will see what happens. Nothing that I am carrying has surge protection. I also did read the cruise booklet that you can download, and in the prohibited items, there is no mention of power strips, or extension cords that I saw.

Glad they got it working for you, but I am with you. I think for me the breaking point would be 74, if I can keep it below that, with my personal fans running, it would be tolerable. Would much prefer around 70. We board next week, and I hope I don't have this issue. We are in an inside cabin on deck 9, so I hope being on an inside that helps with keeping the room cooler. The times we have been in a balcony room, we always had trouble keeping the room on the cooler side, I assume because of the glass and any opening and closing of the door to the balcony area.

We have already decided "no long pants" on this cruise, but I am thankful for the comment about ordering DR food from room service, I had no idea that was even an option. I will have to check as well on my next Princess cruise. On that note, is everything available to order, even things like salads and other "non entree" items on the menu? I will absolutely try this out, and might order it every night.
-
I did find it finally, thank you! Wow, they sure do bury information. And to boot, when I looked at the orders listed, both our wifi and drink packages were marked as "cancelled", so I did call in and talk to someone who told me the were still on what she was looking at and didn't know why they were showing as cancelled on the order history. Gee whiz, why is this so hard, lol.
-
Thanks for the reply. I am not finding the blue button you mention on either the app or the website. I go to "Manage Reservation" on the website, and don't really see anything about the packages. It seems they make this very confusing. I wonder why that would be, but will check. I wish their online information about their drink packages were a bit more clear on what is included and what is not.
-
One more question if I may. If I log onto the website, I can find my trip and I see an option to "Manage Reservation", but in there I do not see any of the package information that I have assigned to the trip. Should you see it somewhere? What I mean is we booked something called Elevate, and it is supposed to contain the classic alcohol package, the wifi and tips. Should I see that somewhere on the website? It's on the confirmation email from my TA, but I don't see it showing on the account anywhere else. Okay, two more. Can I change the Classic Alcohol package to the Premium non alcohol package if the premium non alcohol package has items I want, and I really don't care about the alcohol? Do you call a number to get that changed? I assume they would change it because it's a cheaper package, but wasn't sure if that could be done before the cruise, or if i would go to guest services once onboard?
-
Thank you. I did read in a thread somewhere that any drink up to $9 and I think any non alcoholic frozen drink would be under $9, was included, but will have to look for that I guess to confirm. We really don't drink alcohol, but the package was included in our fare (this was before they offered separate fares recently), but given the choice I would prefer the "premium" non alcoholic package to the "classic" alcohol package. I would like to think that everything in the non alcoholic premium package for $25/day would be included in the classic alcohol package at $69/day, but not sure if it works that way or not.

We have 24 cruises with Princess. We went to formal nights twice and decided we just didn't want to dress up on vacation. We stopped going to the DR altogether probably 10 cruises ago because we didn't want to sit through an almost 2 hour dinner. We are probably the worst cruisers ever, lol, we don't want to take long pants or dresses for my wife, just be able to go eat in 30 minutes in the buffet, and be free the rest of our evenings to watch TV or entertainment, etc. I do miss some of the food options in the DR, but not enough to want to deal with the hassle. And yes, we eat most of our meals in the buffet or the Pizza/Burgers area, or the International Cafe (not sure if Celebrity has something similar). Okay, I did not know this at all. When you say delievered, do you mean to your room for item #1? That might be really interesting, I don't think Princess offers that. Order what you want from that night's DR menu? Do you have to order far in advance? Is there somewhere on board you can see the menu earlier in the day? That interests me greatly, thanks for sharing!

Looking at your link, and see this at the bottom: Disclaimer: Includes drinks up to $9. Does not include smoothies. Wines by the bottle are discounted by 15%. Does this mean the classic drink package does NOT include non alcoholic frozen drinks like you would get by the pool?
-
Yeah, I guess we won't try it at those prices. I thought $29 was high especially after you have "paid" for your DR meal. And I guess I'm comparing to what I know with Princess, but I am surprised everything it seems on Celebrity is significantly higher than I am used to. Not complaining per se, just my observation. I am looking forward to trying Celebrity, even thought we wont' be eating in the DR or the Specialty Restaurants.

Drink Package - Building up a “Stash”
kywildcatfanone replied to carolina_yankee's topic in Celebrity Cruises
So, question. We have the elevate package, which I guess is now the classic drink package. So I can ask the room steward to empty out the fridge of whatever is in there when we arrive, and stock it with water and whatever soft drinks we want (because of our package)? -
We generally aren't much for onboard entertainment, normally just go back to our rooms to either watch the on demand options or stream. With Princess there are lots of on demand options, and generally could stream on the internet without much issue, but I have read on here that Celebrity doesn't have much TV options to offer, and even the stream internet isn't that good.
