  1. Same here! Patrick has retired, but his assistant Shaun Jaffray took over. Shaun’s mom was our driver. It was quite the ride but so worth it!
  2. We were on the Marina just before you. We were told two days before, but I didn’t go get it until the day before.
  3. Same here. Have to agree it’s really nice for hanging things to dry. I just requested to move to an A3 on the Riviera on an upcoming cruise, and I’ll actually be a bit disappointed if it comes through. 😊
  4. We were just on the Marina in January and found her to be in very good shape. The crew was doing maintenance constantly, including repainting the outside hull that had we noticed was pretty scuffed up and rusty in a few places when we originally boarded. We kept in mind that salt water and docking are pretty hard on the exterior of any ship. We also had no issues with our a/c. Are there other things that you are concerned about? We wouldn’t hesitate to book the Marina again before her refurb.
  5. We were just on the Marina in January in an A3 cabin on 9. It was very hot in Brazil, but we had no problems with the a/c. Can’t say for others, but I didn’t hear any grumbling, though I did see a fan in one of the cabins. On the other hand, I sleep with a fan in our 63 degree house, so who knows…
  6. If the last part of your ride to Volunteer Point was like ours, I’m going to say the tender was nothing. You all have had a fabulous cruise getting to see A-24 and making it into the Falklands! FDR must have the karma. 🙂
  7. I am looking for a SIM card that will cover the countries in between the above. I cannot use an e-SIM. All suggestions based on your use of one appreciated. Thanks!
  8. Yes, you posted it just yesterday. It’s easy to check by looking back.
  9. Really excited for you! We were on the cruise just before yours. We weren’t able to have a sighting, but the cruise before ours did, too. Must admit I’m just a wee bit jealous, too.
  10. In the swimming pool, clo.
  11. Be sure to do the Polar Plunge when you get below 60 degrees. So much fun.
  12. Sorry, I’m not following your logic. My point was most places we’ve flown to and from outside the US restrict onboard liquid sizes. This is the only airport we’ve flown from, so far, that waits until the jet bridge to check. And, not to belabor the point about powering down devices, our announce said it was a Chilean requirement, yet ORV’s Delta flight didn’t require that. Go figure.
  13. Hi, Tom. As I mentioned, the One World lounge access website is a bit confusing. Apparently, Qantas, BA, and Iberia have continued their agreements with Latam. The confusion stemmed from the website appearing to show access for Sapphire and Emerald level folks, regardless of the OW airline they were flying. That’s where I got the bad info from AA. Oh, well. I ranted, too, on the water, even to the poor messengers. My bad, there. I also can’t think of any countries we’ve traveled to or from who allow more than 3 ounces upon check in and security. So strange, then, that they waited until to jet bridge to check for bigger liquids.
  14. Not that anyone flying out of Santiago in the near future will read this thread, but….We were on an AA flight that left at midnight. Got to the airport at 7 and were able to check in right away, including bag drop. We sailed through security and didn’t have to remove anything from our carry ons, including liquids. I thought suh-weeet! Great news so far. The AA website for lounge access said One World Sapphire and Emerald could use either of two Latam lounges, even though I questioned that twice directly with AA because the wording was confusing and as recently as the day before we flew. AA contact assured me we did have access. Strutted right up to the counter with another couple that we were pretty sure we could include as guests. Welp, AA hasn’t had lounge access with Latam for THREE years. Slightly embarrassing. Very nice Latam guy pointed us to the Pacific Princess lounge that does admit AA. Off we trotted (it’s a big airport). We were able to enter that lounge. To say it was minimalist is being generous. It was also full to the gills, literally no place to sit, and worst of all, no alcohol since they hadn’t gotten their license. And it had tons of families with young children. We left. Fortunately, as we were waiting for the elevator, we noticed the lounge next door took Priority Pass, and the couple with us were members. It was much nicer and not crowded while we were there. When it was time to board, I stopped and bought a bottle of water. When boarding was called, I noticed about a dozen terminal employees were lined up with tables in the jet bridge where they searched carryons and promptly confiscated my unopened water bottle because “the U.S. doesn’t allow liquids over 3 ounces.” *****?? I asked why do they even sell water after security then?? But, I rant. Sorry. The only other semi-interesting thing was all electronics had to be completely powered down for taxi and takeoff. That was a first for us.
  15. We have two days and one with nothing planned. What great things are you doing?
  16. We did, at least, have blueberries again this morning! Apparently, part of the problem was that the fresh berries that were delivered earlier on in the cruise were already nearing the end of their prime and didn’t hold well. I heard that from a reliable source. Don’t know why they couldn’t reprovision sooner, but I’m guessing it had to do with the ports.
  17. Snoopy would love the gorgeous scenery of his namesake!
  18. I’m relatively sure you are correct. I read an article late last year that quoted him as saying he was going to be on the Marina for SA.
  19. Dang!!! I knew he was going to be on the Marina for some version of this cruise. Was really hoping it was ours.
  20. You can’t do the polar plunge if you stay in your comfy chair.
  21. So, if I’m reading this correctly, we’ll be happier going through the passage on the 5th, as scheduled, than we would be a day later on the 6th?? But then, it looks iffy for Ushuaia on the 6th? Maybe we didn’t REALLY want to know. 🌊🤢
