  1. Oh, how awesome! What a wonderful life adventure!!! Thank you for sharing such a smile with us!
  2. Chengpk75, I wanted to tell you how much I have appreciated your calm, factual posts over the years. I have opened threads purely due to seeing your user avatar is replying, because I KNOW I will learn something from your replies. You are a very good teacher, and I truly appreciate your time and consideration you spend on these Boards.
  3. You could also disallow him certain foods. Amazing how much you want X when you can't have it.
  4. Why would write such a hyperbolic email, if what you treasure are the friendships made in the RCI Lounge? You fired a salvo that is excessively easy to dodge by sorting your message into the round file. It wasn't constructive criticism as much as a declaration of war by someone who always intended to take their money vaguely "elsewhere."
  5. You pay for access to a shared sauna during the hours the spa is open. There are no reservations, and clothing must be worn. There are showers on either side of the small sauna and heated tile loungers facing a wall. Pull up the Allure spa tours on YouTube for a better visual.
  6. Thank you... that explanation lessens the sting a bit! Enjoy!! Good luck in the tournament!
  7. That is frustrating... I bid more than you for that Crown Loft Suite ($1200/person, not total).
  8. Which country is your passport issued from? Do you have multiple passports?
  9. No, we were not able to change lunch to another day. This wasn't an option offered, and the Key lunch has a set menu different from the Chops lunch.
  10. We just did this excursion in mid-June 2019 and had a lovely time. Large catamaran, but not for people who get seasick on 6 foot waves. My teenage daughter enjoyed the crew personality. Food was average, water was lovely. She swam with turtles in a group. There were about 30 people on the boat.
  11. Hit up Google Flights to see trends. You can also look at pricing for Southwest's routing of LAX-DEN-FLL-Puerto Rico currently to see what they are charging.
  12. ndabunka, you misread dleahy4444's posts, by the way. We were discussing why they were choosing to bid versus pay RCI's current price.
  13. Great joke! 😂 They got a cabin through casino play, so you are wondering at their choice to gamble on a better cabin for less money???
  14. Nanci, I also specified buying an internet package. You mentioned the backdoor being closed; if WhatsApp (or Message+) work for you both when she is off the boat, she may need to use her internet to make my strategy work.
  15. Another option that also works for Android phones (i.e., Samsung): install WhatsApp on each phone and pay for wifi for each device. My family then will use wifi to message me, call me, or pass me their pictures or funny memes. All phones stay on wifi only the entirety of the cruise, so no extra charges. WhatsApp will also allow me to turn on my GPS and share my location for a set period of time. If my husband or teenager needs to track me down, they merely push the button for my current location. It won't work perfectly, but it should tell the difference between cabin, spa, and Solarium. I am the only early riser in our family, and I need my coffee. I will go ramble and not worry about being out of contact all day because we didn't talk before I headed out.
  16. But you were correct in that if you didn't get an email, that website might not work for that person. We have reports throughout the thread that the bidding is targeted, so just putting your reservation number and last name into the website won't fix the problem of never getting the bid invite.
  17. Make sure the ports you are watching have service from an airline you have a way to redeem points in. You can also do a smaller, less expensive port and then attempt a 1way car rental (i. e., fly into Orlando and drive down to FLL or MIA). If talking Europe, watch IcelandAir and look for a high speed train connection to get you to the port city. GOOD LUCK!
  18. There are multiple pools on Allure, but I only saw the suite sun deck blocked off at the stairs. The deckplans don't show any other reserved suite spaces around pools. If you're mobility challenged, getting around and to the suites deck is an issue. The cabanas were pretty close quarters. Fitting the 3 of my family in a cabana (if they would have put up with the heat!) would have been interesting. The deck is over the solarium, so the kiddo would have been annoyed. I believe someone mentioned a workaround for an interior working elevator to the suites sun deck, but I can't remember the details at the moment. The deck plan only shows stairs for that reserved area. I thought it would have been a neat setup to chill/nap had they put AC or outdoor fans in place.
  19. With booking a 2 bedroom Haven, you can also have the concierge walk you to the assigned Haven seating. However, with the ages you're talking... what would you be watching for shows? Check out the dailies on the cruises you're considering. The shows might be too late, or too long. As a mom, I've yet to make it to the late shows with my husband. 🤣 My daughter also is not a fan of how LOUD the NCL kids clubs are 24/7 (music and screaming games); there's late hours in theory, but the kiddo crash pads are right in the middle of the action. Also, remember the newer Haven pools are to cool off, not to swim. I adore the 2 bedroom Haven layout (as does my small family), the private restaurant, and the various other ship within a ship features. Don't worry so much about what the kids will get out of the cruise--enjoy your time with your family without stressing about needing to do ALL THE THINGS--that's how you have meltdowns (parent and kiddo!) Good luck, and I hope you have the BEST time no matter which cruise you choose!
  20. I have been fighting the URL for checking to see if you can upgrade for days: https://www.royalcaribbean.com/experience/cruise-room-upgrade I finally called in to report the incorrect error message (must be within 30 days, and I am), and was told firmly the upgrade bid option is only available if you received an email. Very annoying, as the FAQ question gives that page, too. Yay, RCI IT...
  21. Google maps link: https://goo.gl/maps/6DLx3Vhrhts
  22. I have been on a med that has me sunburning within 15 minutes for several years. I find the view lovely, and the shade critical. My family enjoys the comfort that comes with the shade, fan, padded loungers, and easy water access. Works for us, but I also tend to watch for sales so I'm not quite so broke after booking our over-the-water cabana.
  23. Try using a different browser. Firefox won't get into the Cruise Planner on my Windows box, whereas Microsoft Edge works.
  24. Two successful routes my family members have taken: 1) Not got off the boat (St. Petersburg, Russia) 2) Not left the tourist area (Mexico, Haiti, etc) As Labadee has active armed security presence, route 2 might be approvable.
  25. NCL: has heated tile loungers with the lovely view and better Poker tournaments. We also cruise happier in the Haven than in the RCI Suites Lounges dominated by Pinnacles. Haven cabins suit us better, with the 2 bedrooms and aft H6 both having 2 bathrooms. Crown Lofts are nice, but are missing the privacy of a real door. We have sailed on Getaway multiple times. Asian food options are better on NCL, from buffet foot to the Noodle bar. RCI: Ship designs are more appealing, and the kids areas are not intended to make you go deaf. We prefer the bigger RCI ships like Symphony/Allure, etc. We don't tend to pay for the unappealing food on RCI, whereas we enjoy NCL specialty restaurants.
