  1. Thanks for your post and pics! We got a Breezy Bay bed for our upcoming cruise in a few weeks and that will be our first time on Coco Cay and I'll be able to check out the island and see those other sections. But I think you made a good point -- Chill Island being where people head when they get to the island is probably at least part of the reason those day beds are more. Thanks again!
  2. Except -- the one I'm looking at is one that can't possibly be anywhere near booked yet as it's on the last leg of the World Cruise on September 9, 2024. Breezy Bay and South Beach day beds are listed at $219, and Chill Island is $329. On the first segment for December 11, 2023 -- Breezy Bay beds aren't offered at all for some reason, and a South Beach bed is listed at $199 and Chill Island is $299. Is there something innately $100 better about the Chill Island ones?
  3. I've got several Royal cruises coming up and I noticed that the "Breezy Bay" beach bed and the "South Beach" bed are cheaper than the "Chill Island" beach beds by $100 or so. I don't understand why. Can anyone provide a theory on why the "Chill Island" ones are more expensive than the other two locations? Thanks in advance!
  4. We submitted the form for the credit last week for a cruise leaving March 18th and didn't get any confirmation or response. So, we emailed them this morning and got a reply within a few hours saying "We didn't receive your request. Please submit again." So, my husband re-submitted the form and also sent an email with the info. Hopefully, one of them works!
  5. Royal Caribbean has a shuttle service that takes people from the Orlando airport to their ships at Port Canaveral, too. You could check with Royal to arrange it if that works for you.
  6. Thanks for posting this! We just got new passports and I didn't even think to update that info with Global Entry. Just log onto your Trusted Traveler Program account and you'll see "Update documents" on the right hand side. Pretty straightforward! Thanks again!
  7. Even if the passport application had been completely lost and had to be submitted again and the poster did NOT get the result that they wanted, contacting their Congress member was the right decision in this case because the State Department is the agency that issues passports and our avenue as regular citizens of the US when dealing with a federal entity is via our federal representative. If we were talking about a private company -- Chevy not delivering a car on time, or FedEx losing an overnight package -- it would be different. Each entity has a chain of command. The passport applicant followed all of the proper procedures, paid for expedited service, contacted the agency multiple times with no results, waited far longer than I would have waited, and then followed exactly the proper route for handling an issue with a federal agency, which is their elected officials in the federal government. I think if you actually research what your Congress people do, you will discover that a lot of the things they handle are things like this -- regular people having issues with some federal entity and needing a resolution -- problems with Social Security, IRS issues, veteran services, even appointing young people to service academies -- this is what they do. Sorry to disillusion you.
  8. This has happened to many people lately. Log into your account online. At the top, you'll see your initials. Click them and select Profile -- then on the right, select My Loyalty. You should then see your Crown and Anchor number. Write it down or otherwise know what it is (LOL!), and then delete it from that box so the box is empty. Then, re-enter it and choose "SAVE" at the bottom. This should force the system to update your C&A and your points hopefully will then appear. Disclaimer: I found this solution on another thread in here a few weeks ago, and it worked for me. 🙂
  9. Open an incognito window and try it that way where it's not looking at your cookies or cache or anything and see if that works.
  10. If you're fairly mobile and don't have too much luggage, you can take the light rail from SeaTac to the hotels down by the cruise ship area. It's really inexpensive and very easy to do. I had one suitcase, a carry-on bag and my purse, and we had to walk a few blocks from the light rail station to the hotel, but it was entirely doable. We stayed at the Sound Hotel Belltown (it's a Hilton property). Our friends stayed at the Marriott and they liked it as well. There seem to be lots of good hotel choices there.
  11. Medjet would have flown the patient home as soon as the patient was capable of it whether they had to use a commercial flight or if they had to use a special medical flight just for that person and a companion. That's the service Medjet provides. Everyone needs to look carefully at their policies. Many of them do say that they will take the patient to the nearest hospital that can meet the patient's needs. That isn't the same as taking the patient back to their hometown hospital. This is not something you want to be arguing with someone about when you're in Yokohama and they want to take your companion to Tokyo and your companion would rather go to their home in the US because they don't speak fluent Japanese. Medjet gets you home.
  12. Yes, that's right. Assuming you booked after January 1 and are in a balcony or lower, it's $20 per person per day. The Haven and suites are $25. If you booked before January 1 and pay it off before your cruise, it's $20 for Haven, $18 for club balcony suites, and $16 for all other cabin types. Hope this helps! Happy sailing! 🙂
  13. We always get a Medjet Assist policy. As soon as you are stable enough to travel, they will take you to whatever hospital you want, from anywhere in the world that you are. Most travel policies will do what you said -- take you to the closest "adequate" place for treatment. If you want to go to your own hospital, get a Medjet Assist policy.
  14. What? I don't understand your question. The Air Tag will tell me where my bag is. I would know what airline I gave it to. It's up to the airline to get it back to me.
  15. Air Tags. I always know exactly where my luggage is. 🙂
  16. We just got new passports in November and got the 50 page one as we're doing the Royal world cruise -- and pages 8 through 50 all say "Visas" at the top of the page. I believe one used to be able to add blank pages if they needed to, but that is no longer permitted.
  17. I think this works because when you delete the number and re-enter it, you then have to hit "save" and that forces the computer to refresh the info. It cannot tell that the number is identical to what it was, and so it updates it and that results in the correct points and C&A level displaying again.
  18. This website is pretty good -- people submit info to it regularly: https://www.passportwaitingtime.com/
  19. As others have said, it's personal preference. For us, my husband is an early riser and I am not. The bed by the balcony lets me stay buried under the covers while he gets up, gets dressed, goes off to walk the ship and eat breakfast, etc. In the Radiance class ships with the curtain, he can draw the curtain and let me sleep while he does stuff on his computer or even watches TV (I'm a heavy sleeper -- this doesn't wake me. LOL!) I also like coming into the room and having that be the "living area" with the couch and TV, and then the "sleeping area" further back. So, that's my preference -- but let me say I will take any configuration and make the best of it so long as I'm getting to go on a cruise. 🙂
  20. But if you look at the link I posted, it says: Guests who join us for one of the four expeditions will receive the following inclusions: • Deluxe Beverage Package for entire expedition • VOOM Wi-Fi for entire expedition • Gratuities for entire expedition • Wash and fold laundry service for entire expedition I'm on the entire cruise and my invoice doesn't specifically mention gratuities, either. But at least we do have it there in the FAQ. 🙂
  21. Here's a link to the FAQ -- it says in Item 6 that gratuities are included for the entire voyage: https://creative.rccl.com/Sales/Royal/World_Cruise/Ultimate_World_Cruise_Trade_FAQs.pdf
  22. We mailed off our renewal passports on October 3. The website indicated they were received on October 7th. They then said "in process" until November 18 when I got an email that they were being processed, and then a few hours later that they had been mailed. LOL! My husband supposes that renewals are pretty easy, so they are put in a pile "in the order they arrived" and say "in process," but then when they actually do get to it, they're done pretty quickly. They arrived in the mail on November 21 -- which is 7 weeks to the day of when I mailed them off. I know things can happen, but I think you'll be all right. One of the online sites for "passport processing time" that people use to say how long it took are saying it's about 35 days for renewals, which is what mine took. You have five weeks -- I imagine they will come in plenty of time. Hope this helps!
  23. Yeah. Ever watch a cashier put bills UNDER the cash register drawer? That's more work for them. They do that with the $50's and $100's because they don't receive those denominations dozens of times a day. I think over time, the penny could be dropped (as it was in Canada), which would open one of the coin slots, and then we could use the $1.00 coin and replace the $1.00 bills with just coins and incorporate the $2.00 bill into regular usage.
  24. An issue actually in the United States is that because $2.00 bills weren’t common for the past five decades of modern cash registers, so there is no compartment in those registers for them. As prices rise, maybe the $1.00 bill will be replaced with the $2.00.
