  1. A group of passengers off a cruise ship in Paris had stuff stolen on a train. When they got to the Police Station to report the theft (to make insurance claim) they were surprised to see other passengers from the same cruise ship. Maybe the cruise lines should have lectures to make people more aware of the latest scams
  2. What smart thinking, even a thief is not going to give up her baby! I tried to warn my friend but she thought she would be OK travelling in first class.
  3. I hadn’t heard of that one on escalator. It is amazing you don’t feel anything in the confusion. I heard of something similiar getting on a crowded train. An elderly gentleman was helping my friend get on 1st class carriage on train, with her luggage. He felt a hand in his pocket then much pushing and shoving. He held on to the small hand and called out and a lady in carriage called out loudly in French. Whatever she said worked as young Robbers fled! Moral of story make a noise!!
  4. We were warned about “Gypsies” in Paris. Host made my friend take all her jewellery off, told us not to stop for anyone wanting signatures on petitions and about gold ring trick.
  5. I have taken veterans from USA to our ANZAC Day Parades and they were moved to tears. I have been to ANZAC Dawn Service at Battersea Park London and to one at War Memirials near Hyde Park .
  6. She certainly became more famous and could get away with saying more outrageous things than Barry.
  7. Reading a review of a ship - “good service. However, three of clothing items were stolen from my stateroom on the last evening on board”. Has anyone had anything stolen from their cabin on a ship? I haven’t. However I had good pair of leather gloves stolen on the last evening from my room in a hotel in Paris.
  8. Thinking of those who have lost their lives in war and those who suffer illness following military service. NZ "Song of Sorrow" is always moving. Plus the NZ National Anthem, There have been many moving moments already, like when an elderly gentleman couldn't quite keep up to other three wreath layers, nor bend to place his wreath. He was helped with a friendly hand on his shoulder. Tears already and it is only 5.10 am! I used to attend in person, but now watch on TV.
  9. The last time I was at the tourist information office in the city the people were preparing to go meet a cruise ship the next day.
  10. I guess there will be a state funeral in Victoria. What an interesting friend Barry Humphries was. King Charles phoned him in hospital no less!
  11. There will always be a place for unique skill and talent. I just bought a beautiful hand made wooden bench with a parquetry top. I love the smell and feel of new books. No kindle for me!
  12. Julie. I just came across visitfremantle.com.au which has a wealth of handy information for transit ships. Sorry if you already have it!
  13. plus take summer swimwear, if you are going to the beach (put on sunscreen)
  14. Brings back memories of another era. Shortage of men meant some women were destined to dance the boys part.
  15. We got sunburnt in NZ in November at Hot Water Beach, staying too long on the beach. If you are cruising you will need a wind break and some warmer clothes. Take layers.
  16. On Australia - “To live in Australia permanently is rather like going to a party and dancing all night with one’s mother”.
  17. Cairns $4 seniors all day bus pass (cash on bus). So Yorkeys return $4 for seniors. I've caught a bus from Yorkeys in the past. Depends how much time you have in port really.
  18. I often cruise "no single supplement" in twin rooms... My last cruise was in a twin balcony room with no single supplement. I saw QM2 has single rooms, but most don't.
