  1. We are flying on Allegiant in March for our cruise. However, we are only using them for the return flight.

Didn't trust having a delay getting to the ship, even though we are going a day early. However, coming home, the times were better and the prices were about $80 per person cheaper than southwest.

Hoping all goes smooth, but worse case scenario we get stranded in Florida an extra day or two.

We did fly them another time when time was not a issue. We actually loved flying out of the small local airport and into Punta Gorda in Florida. Seemed like a machine shop, but it was quick getting out of.

  2. That is what I am afraid of! We always arrive everywhere too early so I am trying to appease the family and make sure we have a good day out but still get back in plenty of time!

Just ride the water taxi all the way to the northern end. Great tour. Then make your way back towards the beach and Los Olas area to get off and explore or have lunch/dinner. Once back there a taxi ride from anywhere won't be to bad

  3. Hey all, We are heading on a short cruise in March. Our only stop is Cozumel. We have been there several times, but normally just use it as a beach day.

But since its the only stop, we may want to do some snorkeling. Just don't want to give up the beach.

Anyone know if we go to Paradise Beach (which we love the pool) Will we be able to walk out and snorkel. Or will we be able to catch any tours or boats that we can pay to take us out to the reef and snorkel for an hour or two??

    Thanks all

  4. We have been to Cozumel several times. But just always enjoyed the beach and or shopped. (and then snorkeled on different islands)

This time we are doing a short cruise with Cozumel as our only stop and also want to snorkel. However, we also don't want to give up our beach time. We would still like to spend quite a bit of the day at Paradise Beach. Will there be boats there that would take us out to the reef for an hour or so??

If I'm looking at the map right, most of the reefs are off the Western shores of Cozumel right?? Some just out from Paradise Beach.

Is that where Columbia/Palancar/El Cielo is located??

    thanks for any info.

And like the OP, does the time of year, weather, storms, effect where we should go. We we be in Cozumel on March 18th

  5. Thanks for all the comments and compliments!

And if anyone is curious... This was shot with the Sony HDR-AS20 waterproof action cam. That specific model is a couple years old now ... And you can get it for as cheap as $100!

So what kind of "selfie stick" do you use with it??

The video is awesome. Love the final picture. Did someone help, or did you have it mounted somewhere.

Great review. Just 40 some days for me!!

  6. No bump on Freedom ships, the big draw is proximity to elevator. I prefer the rear elevator stack, and I'd drop $27 on a balcony. Humps are often the more expensive category in D and E

Thats kinda what I thought. I have done "humps" on Serenade several times and also on Adventure. But didn't think it bumped on Indi. But the deck plans is deceiving.

Would just go with the lesser balcony, however that price is cheaper than the promenade room I now have. And I know they won't allow the price drop. TA is checking to make sure they will allow me to upgrade for $27. Wouldn't know why not. No OBC or other perks I would lose.

  7. Yes, you can upgrade after final payment.

Note also that if you have a US/Canadian booking, RC normally allows you to change your assigned stateroom to any available in the same exact category as you have been assigned.

Thanks Bob, I knew we could switch rooms, just wasnt sure about the upgrade.

What was going to be just a quick trip to Florida is somehow turning into another cruise. This addiction is pretty awesome!!!

  8. Ok, looking for a last minute cruise in March.

Had one found on the Brilliance and then within a matter of hours it was sold out.

Now we are looking at the Indi.

They have blacony guarantee for about $75 cheaper than picking the cabin.

My question is. Can we book the guarantee and if we get a cabin location that we really really don't like (I don't feel like there are many of those) Would we still be able to upgrade and pay the extra money to pick our cabin??? Of course this is all being done after final payment.

We have only done the guarantee one time and we had good luck. And I know this would all depend on being assigned a cabin right away.

  9. Agree the cruise is not a bargain

However. We decided we wanted a quick get away. Can get decent rates in flights. And the hotels in Florida are terrible. Like you said middle of spring break.

Figured if we are going to spend close to $1000 for five nights hotel. We might as well be on a cruise and get the food and entertainment included

But we were just a few hours late deciding

    They were there this afternoon.

    Hoping for a canc overnight.

    Fingers crossed

  10. Can anyone tell me if you can do a 24 hr hold on a last minute cruise??

We were looking at a last minute on the Brilliance for 3/16.

This afternoon there were insides and OV available.

Was trying to convince hubby and now they all show gone. Any chance they are put on a hold and could be back available tomorrow?? Or am I SOL???

Thanks, guess I needed to convince him first and then look!!!

  11. Just had a friend text me about the current Royal sale.

Sorry I don't have anything being planned right now, so not real familiar.

Her daughter and son in law had been talking to their TA, but just tonight they go on Royal direct and see that a 30% sale is over tonight. TA is on vacation.

Her question for me was, should we wait on TA and take a chance losing the 30%???

I told her normally one sale is followed by another with Royal and that most really arent sales.

Would everyone agree with me here???

  12. On Oasis right now.

Went to 150 CP after finding no notification in our cabin on check in for our

prepaid "First night done right" to make reservation for 7:30. After some

difficulty with the man at the podium who tried to tell us we would have

to pay more, his manager came up and said to honor the prepaid set up, as

that was what they were doing since the program is so unclear.

Was a bill for zero amount, then we added tip. No extra charge.

I am guessing the wording for this promo will change to spell out the extra charge

    later.

BTW: Meal was not as good as previous. Win some..lose some.

Island Lady, Are you going to be posting anything else live on board???

Have family on board and curious how the weather is?? I know you changed Bahamas to San Juan due to the storm off Florida. Was the start of the cruise rocky??

Please share anything you have time for.

    thanks

  13. Announcement just made we're going to San Juan instead of Nassau due to the weather.

On Oasis with you and we are really happy for the change. Watching football right now from our cabin for those wondering if it's shown. It is on in several bars, but more comfortable in cabin

Have an aunt on this sailing. Please keep us updated how its going. TIA
