  1. Yes, but in this day and age you should be able to book directly through the website and be confident that it works.

I haven't phoned in for an airline ticket, a car rental or a hotel room in more than 5 years. Why do all these companies get it right?

Yes, you should be able to book online, BUT there is an easy fix by just picking up the phone and talking to someone rather than get all frustrated by the online process.

  2. Loved the Qisine photos. Our first celebrity cruise is fast approaching and we are thinking of trying it! Still fun for 2 people?

    Thank you!

Yes it is! And believe me, it's very easy to over eat, too! Best thing to do is get a couple of side dishes and 4 plates to share. This way you should have enough room for dessert! :)

The hard part will be deciding what to order!

  3. Maybe some folks want to print their own stuff....and since you want the threads to all be combined? Email Host Andy and/or Host Walt and suggest it to them. If you don't like some of the threads? Ignore

    them.

I'm one of those people who wants something printed out. I've encountered too many issues in travelling where I needed a printout to clear things up. While it is rare, better to be prepared. :)

As for the threads, I agree, they're easily ignored. No one is holding a gun to you and forcing you open them all up! :p

  4. Qsine is very much like a tapas restaurant. All small plates for sharing. Having 11 people, you're going to probably order the entire menu twice over. :) it's definitely a communal type of experience where everyone has a little bit of numerous dishes.

I will also say, expect to be there for at least 3 hours. They do not rush you in the least and, with there being 11 people, you'll probably need a lot of time to go through all the dishes.

And one final thing, one person will be needed to take the lead in terms of what's ordered. That's to prevent any confusion and inadvertent multiple orders. The waitstaff will let you know this ahead of time, but since you have a large group, you may want to have someone "pre-designated".

You're going to have a great time though. :) I love Qsine. With 2 people it's very enjoyable; with 11 it'll be incredible! (Now I'm jealous......)

  5. My guess, the "kickback" and "demands for tips" comments are what got it flagged. ANY accusation of impropriety will prevent a review from being published. Carnival has the same guidelines.

If not for those comments, as honest as they most likely were, it probably would have been published.

On he plus side, at least you were able to stop off for lunch. We didn't get that option for our post-cruise tour, and we got to the airport past 1;30.

  6. Hmmm. "today's hottest songs and artists" would kinda suck, for my tastes. I think most of the clientelle on cruise ships want yesterday's music instead. ;)

We see that quite a bit on RCCL music trivia activities. When they get to the newer music, most people are like "what in the heck is this crap??". It's the 60's/70's/80's stuff that tends to draw the biggest crowds and the most interest (with only a little older and newer stuff sprinkled in).

Most anything modern, except for country, I pretty much avoid. And I'm 52. Though I can appreciate a singer such as Meghan Trainor because a lot of her songs have a 50's vibe to it.

Be that as it may, as long as the music is not pounding out of the speakers with the volume set to 11, I can deal with it.

  7. We had a 6 B2B cruise where Celebrity "inadvertently" cancelled one of our reservations. We had specifically booked the same cabin for all 6 segments. Celebrity felt it had zero obligation to correct their error. They absolutely refused to move the passengers that snapped up our perfectly located cabin as soon as it became available.

    That's just plain WRONG.

This is why I have kept all my email correspondence to the TA I'm dealing with at Celebrity. I have emails PRIOR to me booking my Alaskan cruise indicating exactly which cabin I wanted. Once booked, I took a "screen shot" of the booking and saved it in JPG form. I have every piece of paperwork saved and printed.

If such an error happens with me, suffice it to say I will not be quiet about it and I will get the cabin back one way or another.

  8. Different time and different demographic. Carnival gave up on the Paradise because smokers take risky chances; they gamble more and drink more.

Today, Celebrity's demographic is much different, and the trend is headed south for smoking. Have you ever noticed more than a handful of smokers on a Celebrity ship?

    The time is right!

    Kel:)

The two cruises I have been on, the smoking areas were PACKED. Sometimes up to 20 or so people huffin' & puffin'. I don't want to imagine what it would have been like if all the smokers decided to light one up all the same time.

  9. Maybe turn Cellars into a piano bar. I would love to see the return of some of the live entertainment we have enjoyed over the years, ie, string quartets, accapella groups, music in the MDR on formal nights.

I also agree with an earlier post. If there are going to be rules, enforce them or change them.

    Agreed in full.

I will also chime in to say that I wish that Celebrity would do right by the customer who loses their cabin "inadvertently" due to Celebrity's error. Invariably the person who lost the cabin cannot get it back because someone else has come in and booked it. People book specific cabins for a reason and they should not lose their booking to Celebrity's negligence. Basically, Celebrity will not do right by the wronged customer, even if it's the right thing to do, if it means it affects another customer. That is just poor customer service.

  10. A totally non-smoking ship would be a huge draw for 90% of cruisers. The hard part would be going to a 100% non-smoking crew. Build it, and they will come!:)

    Kel

It failed miserably for Carnival when they had Paradise as 100% non-smoking.

For some reason, smoke-free ships just do not make money for the cruise lines.

  11. No idea which cruise lines you've sailed, or which itineraries you've done. You could not have done them all....

Be that as it may, my wife I took a break from cruising and did some all-inclusive resorts for awhile. They're great to do. However, we did miss the atmosphere of being on a ship. When we got back to cruising we did a Carnival cruise and then 2 Celebrity. We now have a Carnival (this year) and Celebrity (next year) cruise booked.

So sometimes taking a bit of a "vacation' from your normal vacation breathes new life into cruising. :)

  12. Escargot.

I make everyone in my family order it (none like it but me) and eat mine and theirs as the main course. Yes, it is rich. Yes, it is sky high in calories but I get it with a salad and add an extra couple of laps to the walking track LOL.

    I loooooooooooooooooooooooove it.

My wife loves them too. I tried them once. Tasted like garlic buttered rubber bands to me. :p

But, hey, I applaud anyone who loves to eat them!

  13. Actually, yours is the ignorant comment! Ever heard of sarcasm?

Have you heard that there are various types of sarcasm? There's sarcasm when not being entirely serious and joking around (:p), and then there's sarcasm while being serious and attempting to "prove a point by belittling others" ( ).

That comment came across as the latter.

  14. IMO, that's cutting a tad close. While it's very possible you could make that flight with ease, you'll need to go through an Agriculture Inspection, as well as one through TSA. Sometimes it's a breeze, sometimes it bogs down. It truly is a crap shoot.

If I were you, I'd take the later flight just to be safe. Why fret about it, especially when the next flight is only 3 hours later.

  15. while I would agree that there is a lot of negativity on this site I suspect that is not your issue with this thread. You have been called on the carpet for your actions and don't like it.

I am pretty much a live and let live kind of person. Chair hogs are one of the things that truly do bother me since it keeps me from getting a chair by the pool or clamshell on sea days.

I disagree about there being a lot of negativity on this site. There are, however, a few threads that have negative comments in them though, and this is one such thread. Threads that deal with what is the right thing or wrong thing to do are always heated. It gets heated because people dislike their rudeness or inconsiderateness being pointed out and being put on display.

People who cut lines, chair hogs, people who shove through without so much as a "pardon me" are all pet peeves of mine. And I am VERY opinionated when it comes to them, too. I am not shy in commenting about them, either on here or in person when it is happening. (Much to the chagrin of my wife at times. :D)

This topic will never die. it will always be a complaint. When I joined the site in 2003, one of these topics was in full force then. And while we're always covering familiar ground, it's still important to discuss. If even one person realizes just how much of a jerk they're being based on what they've read in this thread and they decide to change, then that's a good thing. :)

  16. While hogging of chairs is the main topic of discussion, it just comes down to people being rude and inconsiderate. The same people who hog chairs are more than likely the same people who are jumping the line to be first or pushing you aside at the buffet to grab what they want. it's all about them, screw anyone else. So how dare others, especially Carnival, try to dictate to them how they're going to do things. Rules and proper decorum don't matter to them, BUT God forbid anyone ever does something they deem rude. (i.e. point out their rudeness loudly)

And if you find what that I said ticked you off, then you're the problem.

  17. The rule I follow is "if you move your feet, you lose your seat." i.e....if you are gone from a chair to go eat lunch for an hour you should have no expectations of having that seat when you get back. The same goes if you go for a walk and are gone for a half hour. The same goes if you head to the ice cream machine for 15 minutes. The same goes for if you are gone for 5 minutes to take a dip in the pool. The same goes if you are gone for 1 minute use the bathroom. Etc.... If I am looking for a chair and someone is saving it with a towel, potato, etc....I don't take the chair because it is rude to touch someone else's stuff and to take the chair would make me in the wrong also. Wrong + Wrong does not = Right.

I'd hate to be in a movie theater with you.... Especially if I got up to use the bathroom!

  18. Don't tell anyone else this is just between me & you but we always take our coffee pot & small microwave so we will have hot food & coffee while we are smoking our cigars in the bathroom with the fan on of course. With out the fan the cabin boy might smell it. At Mustard time we hide in the closet as that is a pain.

But please don't tell on us OK.

    Char

I'm sure you relish that time, too....

  19. My husband and I just came off Celebrity Constellation. HUGE disappointment with each evening meal in the MDR. Lacking flavor, presentation and variety.

We just came from my cousin's birthday dinner......

Rack of Lamb, roasted potatoes, roasted asparagus, Caesar salad paired with a very nice Pinot Noir.

Best meal we have had in a week!

Our next cruise may be based on how good the food is.

What is your feedback because I am extremely disappointed.

Opinions on food is a personal thing. What one person likes, another will dislike. (As an example: you mentioned how much you loved the lamb you had, I personally dislike lamb.)

With that said, and only commenting on the two lines if sailed on, I've enjoyed most of the food on Celebrity, with the exception of Blu. I've also enjoyed the food on Carnival for the most part, with a few minor complaints on some of the dishes. I think Celebrity has a much larger variety of of healthier options, while Carnival's pizza is the best. (I love pizza, so sue me. :P ) Celebrity's specialty restaurants are better by far. Both lines have decent buffets.

    Just my 2¢. :)
