  1. Thanks @mahasamatman! Murano has some of @DJ's DH's favorite things ... Lobster Bisque, Chateaubriand and Grand Marnier Souffle! I have OBC to burn so I'm not too worried about $$$ 😄
  2. @garyl62- I do have Murano booked for @DJ's DH's birthday dinner! From what I have gathered on this board is that it is best to eat in Luminae the first night. I don't love the menu but who knows what it will look like come June🥂
  3. Greetings fellow cruisers! @DJ's DHand I are sailing on the May 13 Equinox cruise in a Sky Suite. My birthday is that day and @DJ's DH is two days later. I have lots of fun stuff planned for his birthday (Cabana and specialty dining). I am the planner so he told me to pick what I would like for dinner for my birthday🙃 What would you choose and why? TIA!
  4. Thanks @LMHSRN and @jelayne👍 If the dining menus in the app is correct @DJ's DH will be happy with the MDR menu. We have enough OBC to burn that I can "splurge" for the rib eye which is showing an up charge in the app for suites.
  5. What a great idea on the table cloth and battery candles👍 Thanks @Oceangoer2
  6. Fellow DVCer here 👍 Vero and Hilton Head are two of our favorites unless we have the grands with us ... then it is our home resort, BoardWalk. If you wouldn't mind, may you please check what en suite dining options are available to SS passengers? Specifically I am interested if dinner can be ordered and delivered from the MDR menu. Wishing you fair winds and following seas!
  7. That's what I am hoping @terrydtx! Currently I have a Cabana reserved as well as dinner at Murano. We are scheduled to arrive in SJU at 3 p.m. We consider this a sea day for us as we've been to SJU more than 20 times so there is not need to disembark. We have an aft SS which has the bigger table on the veranda so I am thinking an al freso dinner would be perfect.
  8. Our first Celebrity suite experience was in a RS last June on the Summit. We had several hiccups on that cruise so this one is a do-over of sorts. I realize the level of service between a RS and SS will be different. I currently have Murano reserved but knowing @DJ's DH he would be happy with dining on the balcony with MDR options. I agree @jelaynethere hasn't been clarification on the new room service rules for those in suites.
  9. Greetings fellow cruisers! I am trying to plan @DJ's DH birthday celebration on our upcoming cruise on Equinox. With all the changes to Room Service does anyone know if you can still order dinner en suite from the MDR menu? TIA!
  10. Wow ... not even close for us on the Summit @groryjm We never had saw anything like you posted even when we hosted cocktails in our suite with another suite level couple in our suite with two days notice. We're a relatively low maintenance couple who have sailed in suites on SeaDream. Seabourn, Disney, Princess, RCCL and Celebrity, At this point the only reason we are sailing Celebrity in a Sky Suite on Equinox in May is because we have FCC from our cruise last on Celebrity. All I am suggesting is that folks adjust their expectations ...
  11. Indeed we did @Happy Cruiser 6143 Part of the issue, it seems to me, has to do with the expectations of those who are new to cruising in suites or on premium lines. We saw our butler being treated rudely by the family in PH who though he was their personal and sole butler. We have adjusted our expectations while on Celebrity in a suite.
  12. In June @DJ's DH and I splurged on a Royal Suite on Summit for our anniversary and my 60th birthday. Our butler was definitely lacking as the meals we ordered en suite (breakfast, lunch and dinner) were not delivered course by course by rather all as once. Hot items were warm and cold items were room temp. There was no over the top service from the bulter even though we were in what is classified as an upper suite even after talking with the Retreat Concierge staff. On the the other hand the service in Luminae and on the Retreat Deck was outstanding. Our room steward was a rock star and we believe he would be an excellent butler. We are booked on the Equinox in May in a Sky Suite. We have lowered our expectations in terms of what we are expecting from the butler.
  13. FWIW ... We were in a RS on the Summit this summer. There was a couple in the PS who had their children and grandchildren on board, in non suites, who monopolized our poor butler and created a very loud dining experience in Luminae. They were a party of 12 with an age range from toddler to 80s. We paid full price (no FCC, no Move Up) for our suite. On boarding day we were in the hallway when we saw and heard an adult child of the PS guest ream out the butler for catering to her parents and family since they were in the RS. The butler then felt obligated to prioritize the service of this group. Moral of this story ... please be mindful and kind to your service team and fellow passengers,
  14. Another vote for Murano! We found that the food and service in Tuscan Grille, which we have dined in on the Summit (M-Class) and Equinox (S-Class) were good. The service and food we have experienced in Murano were outstanding.
  15. At Sea - 8/1 We were met in the hallway by Prez and Ronald, both of whom inquired on how we enjoyed our dinner. Ronald then opened the door to the suite for us. In unison they said "Surprise! Happy Birthday!" There was a lovey flower arrangement and delicious cake on the dining room table along with a card from our Suite Team. I loved my special dog and crown arranged by Prez! As we entered the bedroom to change our clothes we found even more surprises. Retreat PJs with our respective initials. And two lovely little boxes of chocolates. After changing, we headed out to the balcony and enjoyed the lightning show put on by Mother Nature over the gentle Atlantic Ocean. A perfect ending to another wonderful day.
  16. At Sea - 8/1 We were celebrating my 60th birthday this evening and our 38th wedding anniversary the next evening. Evidently @DJsDHhad a conversation with the Shore Side Concierge to arrange a surprise for me. Evidently he was getting a little bit of a run around as to whom he should be dealing with to arrange it. As usual, I was talking my time getting ready for dinner. @DJsDH, as he is prone to do, was ready about 20 minutes before me. He suggested that he head down to the Retreat and I would come down when I was ready. I headed down to the Retreat, masked and dressed up. As I made my way through the packed Rendezvous Lounge and Casino I was surprised to see so many folks in shorts and casual wear on a Chic Night. No judgement ... just an observation. The Retreat was very busy with many officers and guests. I found @DJsDH at "our" table near the bar. He looked somewhat perplexed but I just marked it up to him being disappointed that I wasn't ready on time. Bianca, Guest Relations Director, came over to say hello. She asked what she could get me to drink. I requested an extra dry Grey Goose martini with a blue cheese olive. When we were chatting with Cecilia on Embarkation Day I asked her if it would be possible to get said olives as I know they are a special request. She assured us that she would have them ready for me today. Bianca went about meeting other guests while keeping an eye on bar service. She came over once to twice to see if I had received my drink, which I hadn't. She profusely apologized and said she would get right on it. I felt bad as I didn't want to have the bar team have to go an extra step as they already had their hands full with a guest-filled Retreat. I ordered a glass of champagne and sipped on it. About 15 minutes later, my martini was served with an olive ... without blue cheese🤣 No worries as I knew the staff was doing all that they could to make everyone happy. We headed down to Tuscan Grille for our 7 p.m. reservation. We have dined at Tuscan before and are familiar with the menu. We were shown to a lovely table by the window. Our waters were poured and bread with olive oil and fresh basil was served as we perused the menu. We decided to split the Crispy Calamari as our first course. The lemon caper dipping sauce really made the calamari special. We then each had a small Caesar Salad ... notice a trend🙃 For the pasta course we each ordered half portions. @DJsDHhad the Short Rib Pappardelle Ragu and I had the Lobster Rigatoni Alfredo. Both were the perfect size. @DJsDHoriginally wanted the Veal Marsala as his main and I the Grilled Branzino. We appreciated our waiter, Jeffrey, suggesting a different entree for @DJsDHbecause he felt that the veal wouldn't meet our expectations. We so appreciated his frankness. We decided to split the 18-counce Prime Dry Aged Porterhouse with garlic mashed potatoes and the Broccolini Aglio E Oilo. The service and food were excellent! Too full for dessert, we headed back to the suite to enjoy the rest of the evening on the balcony.
  17. Hi Laura, I bought this on Amazon. It's small but does a great job of circulating air!
  18. The Summit is my favorite ... I guess since it was my first Celebrity cruise. I also like the size of the M class. Please give our (Andy and Jen) regards to Yuksel.
  19. No worries @RichYak! We loved the location 0f 6141! Just a few steps to the aft interior staircase which we used to get to Deck 4 (The Retreat and Luminae). I would book it again in a heartbeat!
  20. @Jim_Iain ... That was @DJsDH and our spot last week! Please give our regards to Cecilia, Mar and Penelope. Cheers!
  21. Awww ... thanks so much @Jim_Iain! Just trying to pay it forward. @DJsDH left on Tuesday for business so I was behind the 8 ball with trying to get him ready to be business traveling so soon after our disembarkation!
  22. At Sea - 8/1 The night before we filled out the room service breakfast card and hung it on outside our door. Ronald, our butler, called us at the time we selected to let us know he was on the way with breakfast. @DJsDH answered the doorbell and chatted with Ronald as he set the table and placed all of our selections so we could serve ourselves. This became our routine for each day of the cruise! Our original plan was to dine al fresco but it was a little too windy and humid. We loved having a real sit-down breakfast complete with mimosas (to which we added our Grand Marnier). We started with a fruit plate and warm pastries, I especially enjoyed the chocolate croissant. @DJsDH had a ham, cheese and mushroom omelet with a side of bacon and sausage. I dined on the Eggs Benedict. Neither one of us, both two-cups-a-day coffee drinkers, only drank half a cup as the coffee wasn't to our liking. We called Ronald after we finished dining. He promptly arrived to clear the table. He confirmed our attendance at the Officers' Soiree in the Retreat before dinner as well as out 7 p.m. reservation at Tuscan Grille. We moved out to the balcony where we spent the rest of the morning and afternoon enjoying the salt air, and slight seas while we read.and watched the world sail by. Sometime after noon we called Ronald to order our lunch from the MDR lunch and room service menus. We shared the Crisp-Fried Mozzarella sticks ... next time I would order two servings as there were just two sticks per order. @DJsDH had the turkey club which was interesting as it had onion on it. I had the Cobb salad with blue cheese dressing on the side. Ronald came to clear our dishes and confirmed our reservation for Tuscan Grille at 7 p.m. We enjoyed a short nap and then showered and dressed for the soiree and dinner.
  23. Thanks for reading @jcpc! I always find it a bit frustrating when someone starts a review and doesn't finish it. I usually start out with the best intentions of real-time reporting but end up taking notes at the end of each day to job my memory when I get home. @DJsDH and I both need it cool to cold to sleep. The A/C in 6141 worked extremely well. We also travel with a small USB fan. We placed that in the porthole window and it moved the air perfectly each night!
  24. We then made our way back to our suite and popped a bottle of champagne to toast each other bon voyage. As I mentioned earlier, when we were in Luminae at lunch there were two large groups. A multigenerational family of 10 and another group of five couples. Since @DJsDHand I wanted a quieter and social distanced dining experience we asked Yuksel, the most excellent maitre d' of Luminae, if he knew when the groups planned on dining. He told us that both parties planned on dining around 5:45 p.m. He told us to call him when we were ready to dine and he would see that we would have a table that met our request. During the week, even if we didn't call, Yuksel made sure that our request was met as soon as possible. One evening he suggested we have a seat outside the restaurant on the sofa. He then had Joana, the sommelier, come over and offer us a beverage. This thoughtfulness was greatly appreciated! I didn't take photos of our food this trip as @DJsDHwould roll his eyes every time I took out the iPhone🤣 Our wait team of Andy and Moniek were outstanding the whole week as well. For our first dinner, @DJsDH started with French Onion Soup and the Caesar Salad from the MDR menu. He then had the Veal Cannelloni. I started with the Escargot and Caesar Salad from the MDR menu and the the Grilled NY Strip Steak. Everything was very good. We passed on dessert as we were full. We stopped by the Retreat for an after dinner drink. The casino was booming as we made our way to the cocoon of The Retreat. After a very full day we headed back to the suite where we lounged on the balcony under star lit skies with gentle seas. It was the perfect ending for our first day at sea since the pandemic.
  25. We were invited to the helipad for the sail away from Cape Liberty. Fruity alcohol drinks and bottled water were offered. This was our first sail away from the helipad. The views were incredible. The Teardrop Memorial As grandchildren and great grandchildren of immigrants, it was quite stirring to see the Statue of Liberty from the deck of a ship. It is because of the foresight of our foreparents that we were able to experience a very different sailing. Perhaps Kenny Chesney said it best in his song "Streets" "Faith believes what it can't see And who we are, and who we're gonna be Our Lady in the harbor shining like a citadel" We then made our way up to the Retreat Sundeck where we approached the Narrows and the Verrazzano Bridge.
