This is our 39th year of sailing with RCCL. In 39 years we've NEVER had an upgrade even once. If fact, we've had no consideration ever, for the years of loyalty. When RCCL finally went "computerized" we never got credit for four sailings we took in the Eighty's. Even after providing pictures of us on their ships, they only gave us credit for two out of six sailings. So, I gave up on that years ago. Now, another big slap in the face against us, on what may be our last cruise with them, we paid almost $1000 more than the current pricing for the exact same cabin ... the ship is no where near capacity for the sailing in three weeks. Literally, I've spent hours on the phone with RCCL and spoken to countless people about getting fair compensation. I've asked for one of three things. #1 refund the overpayment or #2 upgrade the cabin or #3 give us the liquor package and internet (which is actually less than what we overpaid). Without exception, every single person very, very emphatically told me I'm wasting my time ... RCCL will do nothing. I've even spoken directly to multiple regional sales managers and sent emails sharing the issue. We booked directly with RCCL while on another ship. I'm at a loss of what to do next ... trying to reach anyone at the Miami headquarters is pointless as they won't tell you who to talk to, and even if you did, they won't connect you. Has this happened to you before? We feel cheated and unappreciated ... ideas???

Will they give you OBC for the difference in price?

This is interesting. I have previously been refunded for price drops.

We had a huge price drop (approx $1700) last June on a Celebrity cruise. We already had tips, wifi and drinks included. I called, hoping to get a refund. No such luck. I was offered OBC instead, which I had no interest in. However, since that was the only option, I enjoyed the spa and bought some jewelry. Both something I wouldn't typically do.

We've sailed on Enchantment, a similar size ship, five times in the last 14 months. Overall, we found the food in both WJ and MDR good to excellent, with lots of variety, including the new menus.  Some standards in WJ at lunch, such as burgers, taco bar, etc., but lots and lots of new things every day, too. I'm surprised to read that Vision appears to be so different.

Yes, I agree. I was on the Enchantment in Sept, and enjoyed the food. Vision last week, not as much variety.

    breakfast 6:30-10, lunch 11:30-3:30, dinner 6:00-9:00.

I just got off Vision a couple weeks ago. They have the omelet station for breakfast and give you a beeper. Go get your other food, by then you are beeping and get your omelet. Worked great.  No variety in the lunch menu. It is exactly the same every day, with the exception of the topping of the day they put on some of the pre-made burgers. Did not try their dinner, but I heard it is the same food as the dining room, but more.

We are getting back on in a week, so would love to hear anyone elses thoughts on it. I might have missed something.

I was on the Vision March 31-Apr 10. I agree, not much variety for WJ lunch options. After a couple of days, I was bored with the choices, and couldn't find much that appealed to me.

Look at the app for the reverse sailings coming up on Ovation and Quantum - that should give you an idea of what to expect.

Likely the not so obvious link at the bottom of the calendar screen (Change ship/dates) when in one of your bookings or the “Browse our ships” link if looking at all your bookings.

Great tip! I did not know this!

Everytime we go on a trip someone at work "you're going away again? Must be nice" as they walk out with their 500$ jeans to their 90k truck towing their 60k trailer from their 850k home to their 500k cabin on the lake.

YES, YES, this!  I travel frequently and hear the "must be nice" all the time. Priorities.

  7. Been a few years since I've sailed out of Port Everglades. Can't remember what parking is like? How easy is it to get to the ship from the parking lot? This will be for Vision of the Seas at the end of March.

This makes my blood boil!! (Ticked at the passport people, not you. Ha) I submitted mine for expedited renewal on Jan 24. Still nothing. 3 weeks before yours was submitted, and still showing in process. 🤬 It's been 7 weeks now. That means the initial email I received that said 3-5 weeks was wrong and the online current processing time of 5-7 weeks is incorrect as well. I am so annoyed, and would like my $60 back that I paid for expedited processing - because clearly it hasn't been expedited!!!

I don't blame you, I would be also. I was on edge that I would not have mine back in time (sailing March 31). I don't know if my experience is typical, or if I just got lucky.

  9. The question of renewal processing times gets asked occasionally, and I have recently participated in some discussions, as I was in the renewal process. So I will share my latest experience.

I had to make the decision of whether to renew with a seven week window between travels, or cruise with a passport due to expire in three months. Travel.gov says expedited can take 5-7 weeks not including mail time, which had me uneasy, and I was not sure which option would be in my favor. Originally I thought I would not risk renewing and not getting it back in time; I would rather cruise with the soon-to-expire passport. I had several people caution me against doing this, so I decided to renew, expedited.

Anyway, On Feb 13, I expedited renewal, and I received my passport today, March 15. Not sure if I would have been turned away with the original soon to expire passport, but definitely relieved that I renewed and have received it.

Was yours mailed or online?  I noticed they closed the online application option for most of February, after I used it to apply on January 19.  I will come back with my “received” date once it happens, since I used the new online method.

We are just three miles from the Cortez bridge, but go to Palmetto to Wal Mart and Detwiler’s because we enjoy the drive through the downtown area.  Also the Covid testing center at the Convention Center, back in the good old days of required testing 😂

It was mailed; online option was not available.

    Small world.  🙂

No, we just chose the largest gap in between our cruises in hopes of not having to cruise without passports (ten weeks).  On our last cruise in January,  he took his passport card with him (just in case), but used his birth certificate to check in, to make sure it was the “correct” version. No problems with the b/c.

I am in a similar situation, however only 6 weeks in between travels. Just applied this past Monday for expedited. Crossing my fingers I get it back before the end of March.

    BTW, we are neighbors. (Palmetto)

We have one back already.  It showed up  in the system as received a month after the first showed up as received and in process.  But yet we now have that one but not the others.  I signed up for email updates on all three.  Never had one update. The third application doesn’t even show up as received and it’s been 8 + weeks.

All sent in the same envelope from our local court office who process passports.   Our system for passports is a joke.   Why even waste the money on a system that doesn’t even get used.  And if you call the number they can’t even tell you anything other than you’ll need to go to passport office two weeks before your trip if you don’t receive them. So a whole staff of workers who are incapable of helping anyone.  All they can do is apologizing for being unable to tell you anything.  Typical of our government.  Like I said.  What a joke and what a waste of federal money.

    Sadly, I totally agree.

I know there are frequent questions about the processing time for passports, this is a slightly different question.  How long should it take for a new passport application that was mailed for the status to show up online?

My SO had a passport card and mailed in his application for a passport book three weeks ago.  We cannot find the status online.  I applied for a renewal of my passport book online about the same time and could see the “in process” status almost immediately.  Should we be worried about his application?  If it was incomplete/incorrect, would it be mailed back to him?

I don't know the answer to your question. But just curious if it was requested "expedited" service?

So listen up! I’m age 68 male with a daily workout at ymca several times a week power pump yoga barre, walking and line dancing with my wife. Practice yoga daily amazing for my spinal fusion L4-5. Used to play basketball and many other sports. Never ever had the swollen ankles! Then low and behold got em on RCL Anthem. Asked the chef in the solarium bistro about it and said it’s from the oils they use! He suggested I eat there and he’d take care of me, and somewhat of an improvement but still bad.

Then I remember legs up the wall pose!

In my cabin on the bed I layer every morning and night with my legs up the wall immediately improved!

I’ve always prided myself in skinny ankles as the key to good health and long life!

Once onshore off the ship got better with exercise and we do 20,000 plus steps onboard dancing and walking?
    Practice yoga learning your body!

    Awesome, love this!

I too have done both coasts of Mexico and I would have to say if you are looking for the different ports, the west coast is the best. If you are into the larger ships with more bells and whistles, then Allure should be your choice. I must also admit Cabo is one of my favorite ports.

Agree with this! We have done both itineraries as well. As far as ports go, I prefer the west coast.
