  1. I just recently finished my first Celebrity cruise on the Summit. What is your favorite ship on Celebrity?  How different are the classes? I am Diamond with Royal and usually sail Radiance or Vision class, but have also been on Navigator, Independence, and Adventure, nothing bigger than that.

And due to the poor ventilation systems in their casinos (at least the Radiance, Voyager and Freedom class ships) the stench drifts out into the nearby venues. But we still book RC cruises.

    Agreed!

  3. I am Diamond with Royal  and wanted to share my thoughts about my first Celebrity cruise. Just off the Summit June 2-12 to Bermuda and Charleston.

Yes, Bermuda was cut short because of TS Alex.

Yes, we were sailing at close to full capacity, and it was crowded.

Yes, everyone did not follow the mask rule in the theater and casino

Yes, the crew was short -staffed and it was most apparent with the dining room service.

Yes, oddly there were drinks that they were "out of" randomly without explanation (for example no diet coke, but you could get coke zero. One day there is Pinot Grigio, the next day not ; how about Sauvignon Blanc instead. No Mich Ultra right now, how about a Miller Lite.)

However, the crew was fabulous and tried their best to please. Loved the captain and the entertainment staff! I thought the ship was beautiful, and the food delicious. I have no complaints, and can't wait for another Celebrity cruise.

How far out until the cruise are you?  If you're within a certain time frame, you can present a positive test along with a Certificate Of Recovery (Celebrity should have this form on their site) from the doctor, you should be fine.

We are supposed to go June 2, and trying to figure out how soon we can reschedule. For example, Will they let us sail either June 12 or 19, if he/we are negative 2 days prior to departure, even thought he tested positive on May 31?

You can use a COR but some countries like Bermuda would not accept it. I was told we could board the ship but couldn't disembark in Bermuda. So no cruise for us as we wanted to go back to Bermuda again.

We were supposed to be on the same cruise. I remember your name from the roll call. Thank you for mentioning / reminding me about Bermuda rules.

  6. I am the OP. I don't have to concern myself with how to use $1700+ in OBC for my June 2 cruise, as my partner tested positive, so we won't be going. 😒

Now I just need to figure out the process so we can hopefully reschedule.

Can someone explain intermittent fasting?  10 tp 6?  How many days per week?  Thanks.

There are a few variations, one that is recommended is 18:6.  You can google it. Basically you eat within a 6 hour window, and don't eat for 18. My eating window is between noon and 6pm. I don't do this every day and I don't follow it exactly, but this is what I aim for.

  8. I've lost 45 pounds in the past 8 months or so, and am concerned about my 10 day on the Summit coming up.

I went on a cruise this past New Year's, and somehow managed to come home 2 pounds lighter than when I left. No clue how that happened because I had pizza, burgers, rolls, desserts, and wine almost daily, and did not go to the gym once. 😆I don't typically eliminate these foods entirely, but I don't eat them daily either.

As someone else mentioned, I believe intermittent fasting definitely promotes weight loss.

It's for arriving flights. Many people fly in day of departure for San Juan.

Thanks. Coincidentally, I'm from Maryland and several years ago, I did fly to San Juan the day of. Even though everyone always says fly in a day early, I never did.  😊

  10. Not specifically related to Celebrity, but didn't know where else to ask this question. Does anyone know why San Juan departures are later in the evening than other departure ports? Just curious if there is a reason for this?

  11. Is unused OBC refunded to your credit card at the end of the cruise? We have significant OBC due to a price drop but would rather have the money back. Or can we use it onboard as a deposit for our next cruise?

  12. How does Celebrity compare to Royal Caribbean? We are booked on our first Celebrity cruise for June 2022, and curious how similar or different the onboard experience will be. Also, how does the Summit compare as far as size? What ship or class of Royal Caribbean is it closet to?

    Thank you.

My husband and I are just off Serenade where we had a table for two.  We were seated by the window with couples on either side (also at a table for two) that were barely a foot away.  One cannot wear a mask while eating and drinking.  We were at 50% occupancy, but they closed part of the dining room rather than spreading people further apart.

And now Serenade is out of service for a bit.......  hmmmm.

I was on this sailing as well, and was about to post a similar response. We were also seated at a table for two, near the windows, and experienced the same thing. For all the "distance" between the tables, may as well been seated at a group table. Didn't make much of a difference.

  14. Is there still early and late seating in the MDR, or is it all My Time and specialty restaurants now? What happens if you don't make any reservations? Trying to find out when/if we are scheduled for dining for our upcoming cruise, but rather not call and have to hold for an hour.  🙂

This is for the Serenade if it makes a difference.
