  1. The same thing happened to me. I had my TA apply 2k in cards and they applied 1600 and reduced the price by 400...which then affected his commission. He couldn't figure out why or even how X did that.
  2. Yeah, I'm the OP of that thread. You can definitely use it the way @SRQbeachgirl wants to. As for the no refund, a few people have now said that X will refund to a new GC. I suspect when they removed the 1k limit there was a lot of confusion on their end so maybe the policy has evolved a little. We won't know for sure until someone tries it 😀 One other thing to watch out for is it seems that some trip insurances will NOT cover portions of the trip paid with a gift card. We typically use nationwide and they said they *think* it should be covered, lol, but we called another and they said no. I think the issue is being able to prove you a) bought the card and b) actually used it to pay for the cruise.
  3. Enjoy and travel safely. What parts are you visiting?
  4. In Europe now on the Poesia so no YC. I think what @morpheusofthesea described is correct for the Caribbean and YC equipped ships. I'll find out in a couple.of days, but we were told the procedure is as @CruisingFox27 said. With priority, you basically show up and get in the next available tender. No need to wait for your number to be called.
  5. I knew pax got on and off at the various ports in Europe on MSC...very different from the US and Caribbean, lol. However, we just left Iceland yesterday and I was surprised that people embarked in Reykjavik...and not just a few...it was probably close to 100.
  6. That was a big draw for us too. That being said, if this time next year things are the same with Ukraine and Russia...would you feel nervous about visiting that part of Europe?
  7. More info...shuttle is every 40min and it drops you at Harpa in town
  8. See post 103...was never my intent to attack you. If you felt I did then please accept my apology.
  9. Everything you said is correct. I was initially dubious of the claim. The OP.showed it to me, and I researched it. He was right. At that point, the ONLY disagreement was the degree to which it is done. OP implied it was commonplace...it isn't...it's one ship. It is not at all.my intent to attack the OP. Yes, it was my intention to make fun of the caps and emojis in the original post...but I also said repeatedly that I agreed with his position (the weed part). If someone shows it's more than one ship on carnival I'll happily say I'm wrong and the OP was right. But if it is only one ship then I'd like the same people (not the OP) to agree that one ship isn't the same as fleet wide.
  10. I think everyone on this thread agrees with this. The only disagreement is the degree to which it occurs. Some people don't understand what words mean and then get upset when you try to explain it to them...or quote pithy sayings since they realize the argument is lost. But you are 109% correct. And if you look at my earlier posts I clearly said some dogs.living on some ships for some sailings. And everything posted so far backs that up.
  11. I've seen people ask about taxis, etc...lol, I'm one of them. Anyway, I can confirm that MSC runs free shuttles from the port to the center of town. We aren't taking one today so I'm a little unsure of exactly how they work, but it seems to be every 30min. Of course with MSC, YMMV...but regardless, no need for a taxi or to walk.
  12. Hmm... it's a case of facts and a dictionary. Maybe look up the definition of backpedaling along with exaggeration. Not sure you know what either of those mean. I guess because you can't find where I said anything to prove your point, and you continually prove mine, you are feeling triggered? If so, I'd advise you to take WEED (SKUNK) Lol, I feel bad for you. Please reply and get the last word in. You can quote Yogi or anyone else again instead of facts. I promise to not reply to you again I know it will make you feel better.
  13. Lol, my day so far has been VERY fun...and I haven't had any WEED. Is yours good or bad?
  14. Lol, once again you prove my point...thank you. What I quoted as an exaggeration was dogs loving on ships. Since you yourself note it is ONE ship, I think saying ships meets the definition of exaggeration. I guess the only surprising and unbelievable thing is that anyone would be surprised by this. How is this a big deal? There are drug sniffing dogs everywhere...no big deal.
  15. If you read the post you quoted me on you'll see I'm at sea. I'm not sure if be able to do what I'm doing on my smartphone in the 20th century. So... upgraded already??? And thanks for proving me right. Why do I need to watch the video when you will.do it for me and confirm what I've been saying all along.
  16. Nothing because my internet doesn't let me view videos. But I searched the net and...which I clearly said...it seems like mostly at embarkation with some on ship dogs...but unclear if that is on the ship while at sea or before sailing. Regardless, nothing that says or implies they are on all ships living there.
  17. Yes...mainly at embarkation but nothing that says or implies all ships have them living there full time...which was all I said.
  18. Go back and read what I said. I clearly said they may be on SOME ships for SOME sailings. But to say or imply they are now a regular fixture is just silly. No other responses seem to have a problem understanding things I guess you missed the point where I said I AGREE with you. Maybe you were distracted by my cheering for carnival.
  19. Wow...even when someone agrees with you you can't understand what they are saying. I've got a bridge to sell you if you think man didn't land on the moon. And not ALL drinks are free in the YC, only some are. See, again, you don't understand things...
  20. Lmao, I'm typing this right now from an MSC ship...the Poesia. I'm diamond on MSC from sailing not status match. I have 2 princess, another MSC, 4 celebrity, and *one* carnival cruise coming up. I just got off HAL in May and another celebrity last Feb. I cheer celebrity most often, but really I cheer whoever gives me the best deal.for where I want to go. See, this is my point. Your assuming things that are simply incorrect.
  21. Lol, if you think that then I understand your confusion in reading the articles. A more proper analogy would be, man goes to the moon. You would assume that meant he stepped on it, I would say *maybe* he did. In reality, several missions went to the moon before man landed on it. You are reading between the lines and assuming things...I am not. Furthermore, I am using my, admittedly limited, personal experience. I haven't seen dogs on any carnival cruise. Doesn't mean they aren't there...just because I haven't seen them. I haven't seen marshals on planes but they are there for sure. However, if it was as you implied, there were now living in ships I think I, or someone I know, would have seen them. Dogs, unlike marshals, can't blend in.
  22. Honestly, I think some of the reactions...mine included...are the way they are because of the hyperbole in your original post. Multiple caps, skunk in parens, emojis, etc. I couldn't tell if you were serious or joking. Yes, weed, as well as cigs shouldn't be in areas where they aren't allowed...on ships or not. I think most agree with that.
  23. Yes, this does NOT say they are living on ships. It says searches will be conducted on the ships.. those are very different things that may or may not be the same. For example, it could mean luggage is searched once brought onboard. It also doesn't say how many and how often. This is why it is technically true, but misleading to say what you did. I think carnival, rightly so, is being circumspect in what it says. It would be stupid of them to do otherwise. But I haven't seen dogs roaming the halls on carnival ships so it can only be so widespread, if at all.
