  1. This is really important info. Yes, it's in the T&C, but it is something that is easily overlooked. Agree with the TA comment...I usually get close to 10% pre taxes back. Definitely a nice perk. I would add that you get 50 OBC if you book early enough and are a voyager member. I can't remember the level you need to be but you can status match.
  2. Np... do you have any specific questions? So far it seems like @Nunagoras summed it up perfectly. This is definitely the least "elegant" MSC ship I've been on, but it's very nice for sure. I have this ship booked for Sept 2024 and I'm fine keeping the booking. Nothing that makes me worry I picked the wrong ship 😀
  3. Boarded about an hour ago...like what I've seen so far. Very MSC like in terms of design. Staff is amazing. Will post more later...
  4. Let me be clear...I knew I could have gotten it. But I never drink the alcohol in the mini bar...I get enough of that from.top.sail.😀 I'm strictly a Pringles man in the bedroom, lol. In general, the butlers are nice and keep my room stocked. They also find me in top sail and give them to me.
  5. Yeah I know all that but the point is with MSC, YMMV. We didn't get the large bottle of alcohol...but I didn't care. However, we did get snacks refilled.
  6. Mini bar is included in YC...rules have changed a little and I think you don't get free refills anymore. I say think because while that's the official line, when I last sailed they did replace certain items...I don't do a lot of mini bar so not sure if they would have replaced others
  7. Gotcha...I wouldn't call that woke, but I understand what you're saying and *think* I agree. I say think because I haven't really seen that, but if I did would prob agree 😀
  8. What is an example of a woke activity? Lol, I'm kind of curious too what you mean by this.
  9. Lol, pizza waiting...or pizza to eat. That will teach me not to respond before I'm fully awake.
  10. Lol, I'm with you. I never do it ..but friends I often travel with in the YC delight in it 😀 The only real perks I partake in are not having to wait in lines and having the butler have a pizza eating in my room each night 😀
  11. Lol, I would LOVE this...and not just ship to ship but sailing to sailing on the same ship. Sometimes they do things differently DAILY. it's really maddening.
  12. Nothing wrong with putting them on yourself, just saying they aren't needed. Let the butlers handle it. I've never put one on and the butlers happily do it for me every time. If you drive, maybe not a big deal, but if you fly in, then it can be a pain to put them on after you land. Lol, definitely talking first world problems here, but you are in the YC so take advantage of what they offer.
  13. You take your luggage to the YC tent and the butlers put luggage tags on them. One of the many perks you'll get... So you said first time, I assume you know you don't go through the normal check in line right? You don't follow the normal check in process at all. And you know you won't have to stand in lines waiting for shows, getting on the ship, etc? You know you can commandeer elevators like firemen?
  14. I've never really had a problem with kids in the YC. They've all been well behaved. Have I just been lucky?
  15. I think you've summed it up perfectly. Yes, the T&C say your room can be changed, but the understanding is that it is rare and with reason. Otherwise, as @CruiseTee said, why book anything other than a gty to begin with. MSC, however, will just randomly remove huge swaths of assigned cabins and reassign them for no apparent reason. And to make things worse, they won't communicate they did this. What is even more frustrating is that often a call will get you your original room back...so why did they switch it in the first place? I 100% understand the OPs frustration, esp given the amount of money spent. I also understand being upset that the older couple was moved. You booked as a group and wanted to be together. Yes, the YC is relatively small, but that isn't the point. Neither is being closer to the pool deck. Whatever reason @CruiseTee has for them being together is their reason and to have it randomly ignored is not right. But...as any seasoned MSC sailor knows, this is how they do business. @LaurieNJ, one small correction to what you said. You're in the YC...no need for luggage tags 😀
  16. Not surprised. I have been trying to book for one of my cruises but it wasn't offered. The last time (recently) they did that was with laundry. They removed it for more than a month and when it came back the prices were almost double.
  17. I'm the OP of that thread and can indeed confirm there is no longer a limit. Also, it can be used for any cruise you haven't made final payment on. That being said, there seems to be one huge drawback...if you cancel the cruise you don't get back whatever you paid in GCs. Yes, seems insane...this is discussed in depth on that thread...
  18. Yes...you can also use PayPal...
  19. I stayed in one and loved it and have another booked in Sept. However, I have a fear of heights so the cove balcony - so close to the water - it perfect for me. Like @csm5986142 said, being that close to the water is pretty cool.
  20. As the OP, yes, this is the case. However, please note some of the issues raised here. @Ken the cruiser brought up that you may not get money back if you have to cancel. In other words, X treats gift cards as non-refundable. Also, @NorthStarStateCruiser brought up a point that trip insurance *may* not cover the portion paid for with gift cards. Also,
  21. I didn't say it couldn't be done, I said it complicates things. I've sometimes had the result you did, other times gotten OBC, and other times been told no. So now I simply wait to pay...better I hold my money instead of the cruise company anyway.
  22. Spa services are pretty expensive...specialty dinners...renting a cabana on the YC side of the island...
  23. mscvoyagersclub@msccruisesusa.com And they eventually responded. I think it's random who reads the emails. 99% of them ignore it, but 1% knows how to do their job. You have to keep emailing until you get that 1% rep.
