It is fairly unique space.  They did a good job with the area.

My kids loved being able to walk across the hall and grab cookies and milk out of the lounge.  I think they also just really liked they had a place they could go that was "exclusive" to those rooms.  Guess that mindset starts early.😂

What are the ages for kids in the Family Harbor rooms?   We are looking to bring our 14 year old and her friend with us and want to know if they would be too old for these rooms.

One of my favorite rooms was a family Harbor.  The kids loved it.  There was plenty for kids of all ages.  I don't think there is an age limit.

The travel channel did something like that with an NCL sailing, it did talk about profitability.....but really apples and oranges, staffing and lots of other factors.

Agreed .  I was trying to give some perspective to the topic.  I have watched a lot of cruise documentaries while being overly excited about an upcoming sailing.  Just looking through some of the ones I have watched in the past today trying to find the quote made me sad about the current situation.

Carnival is known for having lower fixed costs than Royal or NCL which is one of the reason s they can sell for less and still make a profit.

I am skeptical that a boat can sail at 30% capacity and break even, no matter how low the fixed costs.  I would love to hear a cruise executive not spinning for the media explain how they come to that conclusion.  Again my realistic thought process can get me in trouble around here.

Prior to this pandemic the cruise lines were extremely profitable. Could you share the documentary you watched, I would be interested in watching it too?

Watched it a couple of years ago on Amazon Prime when I was excited about my next cruise I was going on.  I believe it was about a RCL ship it was towards the end of the Documentary and they were interviewing on of the VP's that worked at the RCL Headquarters, and he made the comment about the profitability of each cruise.  It is just hard to believe that a 30% cruise ship can be profitable, but it's not like cruise executives have given us any reason to doubt them recently.

I've watched a documentary on a cruise ship.  They were saying that they might not make money on a full cruise ship if the weather wasn't good and the bar tabs and excursion sales were down.  I have a hard time believing that a 30% cruise ship will break even.

So if my local supermarket has a bad food product we should shut down all supermarkets until that bad food products contact tracing can be confirmed. Please measures are being put in place.

This is apples and oranges.  They recall the bad food product.  You can't recall the people getting on the ship with the virus.  Once they are on that ship has sailed and they are spreading the virus like wildfire just like we saw in the beginning on the Princess ship and others.  Yes some of the protocols put in place will slow the spread of the virus, but it will still spread.  I know many people have a get back on the cruise ships at all costs mentality.  I want to get back on a ship just as much as they do.  I just don't want to add to the already out of control spread of this virus with over 6.5 million cases in the US and over 212k deaths.

Quite frankly, I couldn't care less that you're amused. I know nothing of the VSP you speak of because I'm not in the industry like you are. My comment is based on the collection of statements I've seen released by the CDC, not just during this pandemic, but also prior to it. I don't remember ever reading anything good coming out of the CDC when they've addressed the cruise industry. The fact that they intended to extend their no-sail order until mid-Feb. is ridiculous and. To me, that says a lot about what they think of the industry and its importance to the economies of multiple states here at home as well as port nations that heavily rely on it. They have no idea what things will look like in one month, let alone in 4+ months.

They are the Center for Disease control.  They see a disease that can't be controlled on a ship so they issued a no sail order because of said disease.

We are scheduled to sail from P.C. on the Breeze on Nov 21st. received an email from Carnival stating that they

are still scheduled to sail, but we were offered to voluntarily  cancel for 100% refund or FCC plus 600 obc or

continue with the sailing, still thinking on what I want to do, checking to see what Carnival is going to do.

I would take the 100% refund.  It seems to me the virus is ramping back up and I would take my money and put it towards a land vacation.  That is just what I would do and if other people would do other things I respect your right to do what you want to do.

I don’t think the mask is supposed to protect you. I think it’s supposed to protect others from you.

That's the point.  Many of the people were not wearing masks because they are part of the anti mask hoax crowd, that just recently tested positive of the hoax.

I think recent events have killed any chances of cruises resuming from US ports next month.

For good reason.  Look at all the people in that Rose Garden ceremony my US Senator included that got the Coronavirus.  My Senator was wearing a mask and still got it.

It is time to cruise, period. MSC is doing well in Europe and added another ship to their sailings. Yes, there are still cases popping up but I think especially since one could fly all of these months we should also be able to cruise with a good protocol in place.

Still cases popping up.  There are 7 million cases.  Hospitals are being pushed to capacity in Wisconsin of all places.  Europe is a totally different animal than the US.  Number of cases and willingness of people to comply with the protocols put in place.

When did we make Greece a state?🤭  I beleive they said the crew testing inGreece was an error.  Florida is way down.  We can cherry pick all over the Place, it have little reference to the CDC’s decision.

Florida has 668,846 cases as of today.  Is that way down?

How difficult do you think these rules are going to be? I don’t think the rules are going to be so complicated that passengers won’t understand them and I definitely don’t think passengers are going to have to “study” to comprehend them. The questions in my book is will all the passengers comply with these new rules and will Carnival staff enforce these rules, since they have a long history of not enforcing their own rules.

Oh my God.  Did you read that I retracted my joke about studying.  You are so maddening the way you take one little thing that someone says that really isn't the point of there post and focus on it.  I do think they will try to enforce the rules.  I just think that if they have one outbreak on a ship it could be the end of Carnival Corporation.  That seems like a pretty big bet, however they are getting to the point where they are running out of options.

  15. The first cruises back sound pretty miserable.  You are going to have to study all the rules and the distancing and the mask wearing and the isolation cabins.  Sounds like a blast.  Also no mention of the fact that we have close to 7 million cases of the virus with over 200k deaths and predictions of double that by the end of the year.  Nothing to see here.

A lot of people feel that way, however, if cruise lines were US Flagged, very few could afford to cruise and the lines would be bankrupt anyway.

I made the comment to make the point that the cruise lines should not get any bailout money from a government they avoid paying taxes to.  If you structure your business to avoid paying taxes to a particular entity, when times get tough said entity should not be expected to bail you out.

I don’t think comparing airline bankruptcies to potential cruise line bankruptcies is a valid comparison. Airlines are vital to the success of any economy, which is the main reason why airlines have continued operations during this pandemic and why they were part of the stimulus package. On the other hand, our government has made it pretty clear they do not care if the cruise lines survive or not.

The airlines are also 100% based in the US.  You don't see Panama or the Bahamas on the back of a major airlines plane.  Just my opinion.

The industry has already started. It has shown that cruises can happen safely.

Our problem is one of government, not the cruise industry. Planes are flying, Disneyland and hotels are open (as you said). Resorts here in southern CA are all open. We all realize we need the CDC to take off the no sail order then those of you in business friendly climates, FL, TX, etc, will probably get your cruises. Our governor here wants to keep blaming the feds and keep things closed and use bad budgets as an excuse to raises taxes (look our proposition 15). Not sure when we will see cruises from California again.

Cruising isn't happening because there are a bunch of yahoos that will not put on a mask and socially distance themselves.  I spent a weekend in a condo complex where I had to keep getting off the elevator because of all the people that evidently couldn't read the signs plastered all over the walls saying wear a mask.  They are why Americans will not be on cruise ships  anytime soon.

Sooooooo tired of people thinking Carvial (and others) could go out of business.

As of this morning...Carnival Corp, Royal, and NCL are all in the top 5 on S&P 500 top movers. And that's them going UP, not down.

I'm tired of people saying it is impossible for Carnival to go out of business.  I am also tired of people trying to say because you think it is a real possibility for Carnival to go out of business that somehow makes you doom and gloom.  It just makes you a realistic thinker.  I want very much for Carnival to stay in business so my family can have many more wonderful times on cruises in the future.  That is not going to stop me from using my brain and realizing that if a company that survives solely on revenue coming in from cruising doesn't start cruising soon, other than a few ships in Europe, that it isn't a possibility they they go bankrupt.
