In a controlled media/entertainment  arena we see every day 100 pound women beating the living daylights out of 200 pound men who are former special forces as the bad guys. There are plenty of people who believe that. We can go on and on and on with all of the propaganda.

I missed this story.  Propaganda happens on both sides of the political spectrum.

First there is no evidence that mask wearing and social distancing have an effect on real world results of reducing transmission of the virus.  Look at the data by state and it's easy to see there's very little difference between militant states and those who didn't lock down (or opened up early).

Second, there's very few people who believe there's a microchip in the vaccine.  That is a VERY fringe group of people.  Most people just aren't comfortable with injecting an unproven, unapproved substance, brand new technology into our bodies.  It's a personal choice.  I know in Ohio, anyone can literally walk into a pharmacy and get a vaccine immediately.  So anyone who wants it can get it, those that don't know the chances they're taking.  Makes no sense to not open everything and remove all restrictions.

The hospitalizations have plummeted since the vaccine came out.  Hundreds of millions of people have gotten the vaccine with very few side effects.  The only reason many have not gotten the vaccine is because they received their marching orders from someone who is no longer a politician and his entire family has gotten the vaccine.

    We're done with restrictions.

To many were done with restrictions before they even happen, which is why we are in the mess we are in right now.  We are probably never going to get to herd immunity because of the we are done with restrictions crowd is also the I'm not taking the vaccine crowd.  Same crowd.

Not disagreeing with you at all. But those days are over now. We're done with the restrictions. Everybody knows how to protect themselves if they choose. It's our decision.

Unfortunately the same crowd that caused the virus to spread more rapidly than it should have because they wouldn't wear a mask and distance because it was taking away their liberty are now keeping us from getting to herd immunity because they think Bill Gates has put a microchip in the vaccine.  At the end of the day it seems the takeaway is we are not dealing with rocket scientists.

These posts have been an interesting read.  One thing that is becoming apparent is that, given the strong exchanges I've been reading, it could be quite entertaining onboard between the two sides of the issue especially once the drinks start flowing.  Grab a seat in the back and wait for the fun.

I will go grab some popcorn and a Corona and sit back and watch.

  8. I think the CDC has done a great job up until this point not caving to people who didn't believe the virus to be a big deal.  Now that we have a vaccine and the numbers are dropping precipitously especially when it comes to hospitalizations it is time to open up cruising to vaccinated people.  I hope the CDC continues to do  a great job and let vaccinated people back onto cruise ships.

I posted a question earlier in this thread, essentially asking; 'what is your biggest fear concerning covid'. Those that answered, mentioned nothing about death or sickness, only that they do not want their cruise to be inconvenienced, so everyone should do as they say in order to minimize the chance of a positive test.

Here, you claim that cancer is apples and covid is oranges. Is there a different kind of dead from cancer than covid? I haven't heard that from the MSM yet but it would not surprise me. And the minions would believe them.

The hypocrisy of those in such strong support of covid vaccinations but not other means of choice/activity that cause death is astounding. Even when it comes to the preventable deaths of children; only because you allow yourself to be conditioned. SMH!

Covid is a virus that can be mitigatedf by a vaccine.  Cancer is not.  Hence apples and oranges.

I threw around percentages the same way you throw around death numbers. And since you need clarification, I was specifically asked why I was saying Covid was easily avoidable and provided factual percentages to back up my words.

If 98% of a population has managed to not get Covid after over a year then that logically concludes it must be easily avoidable, which it is, but to you people that's "misinformation". And I will not clarify who "you people" are because that's quite obvious from my words---but since you didn't like the facts I provided to back up my words, it's just another feeble attempt to deflect and veer away from the point which is always what "you people" enjoy doing.

By the way there are 331 million people in the US and 32.1 million confirmed cases which is closer to 10%.  The number of actual cases realistically has to be much higher.  I know you people don't like to take a realistic view on anything, but you can keep running around with your don't tread on me cape.

So what you are saying is that you don't believe the shot you got was effective?  Why did you get it then?

None of the shots are 100% effective, but if everyone on the ship has one it makes it better.  I am fine with people that for a legitimate medical reason or kids who aren't eligible being on the ship.  I do think the people who are not getting it because a former politician, who he and his entire family got the shot, but is telling people not to get it.  If that is the reason you aren't getting it I hope they leave you on the dock.

That's good news in regard to cancer and even better that they're not rushing it like they did with Covid.

Back to the point---Until every single person in the whole world has been tested, the fact remains that since 98% of the entire world's population has managed to avoid contracting Covid, it's logical to conclude that it's an easily avoidable virus to contract by taking recommended precautionary measures. And that is not "misinformation" that someone up thread was accusing me of, but basic logic and common sense.

You gloom and doom people will surely come back with more twisty posts to continue pushing the fear campaign and have at it. It still won't convince me to take the "jab".

Oh and someone else up thread was spouting how NCL was having only vaccinated passengers when they resume sailing....but per their website, that is only until Oct. 31 of this year, after which they will reassess if theyI can't  should continue that or not. This was conveniently left out of that person's post----and that right there is a perfect example of "misinformation".

I just hope they don't let people on the ships that won't take the "jab" so I won't have to cruise with you people.

As of 4/24/21 the current worldwide Covid numbers stands at 146 million who have been infected. (124 million of those people have recovered). In a world of 8 billion people, that's less than 2% of the population. Therefore, 98% of the world still hasn't got Covid

After over a year since Covid began, it's logical to conclude by those numbers that Covid is easily avoidable since 98% of the population has avoided getting it.

Have you seen the numbers coming out of India.  They are doing there best to catch up and that is a billion people. I will never understand how people can try and argue 500k deaths is no big deal just because it is a small percentage.  500k deaths is 500k deaths no matter how small a percentage you throw out.

What does that mean? "Don't tread on me flag?" And what does that have to do with the conversation? Why do those who disagree continue seem to deflect away from the topic with crazy stuff like this?

And where did I spread "misinformation?"Since you're directly quoting me with this reply please quote exactly where I spread this "misinformation"? Thanks.

"This is a virus that is pretty easy to avoid just by doing very simple things"  It wasn't very hard to find misinformation.  This quote is completely absurd.  There have been 32 million confirmed cases of Covid in the US.  The number is more than likely well north of that figure.  We are a population of 331 million people.  That number is 500k less because of the virus..  To say that it is easily avoidable is spreading misinformation.

I'm not worrying about you at all. My apologies if I gave you that impression.

My wife is going through the effects of long term Covid as we speak.  It is not only the 500k dead but the untold number of people who are going through the long term effects from this virus.  Unfortunately people like you are out there spreading misinformation about the Vaccine.  Keep waving your don't tread on me flag.

For grins, I checked on the requirements for the Princess UK cruises that will start in the near future. Vaccines are required. Apparently no exemptions for any reason. I like the rationale for why they are requiring vaccines for passengers:

Are your Summer Seacation voyages only available to vaccinated guests?
Yes - Given the advanced progress of the UK vaccination programme, and strong expressed preference on the part of our guests for this limited series of UK cruises, these sailings on Regal and Sky Princess will be for UK resident Covid-19 vaccinated guests only.

For these cruises the definition of “vaccinated” is a minimum of seven days following the second dose of the currently approved Covid-19 vaccines being administered. Proof of vaccination and the dates given will be required (approved forms of evidence will be confirmed closer to time of departure) and this will be required to be shown at the terminal prior to boarding. Failure to provide this evidence will result in denial of boarding. There is no age restriction on this series of UK coastal cruises but all guests of all ages must meet the requirements of the Princess Covid-19 vaccination policy.

    1. Are there any guidelines for seeing the sights ashore?
For the time being, you will only be able to go ashore on shore excursions that are researched and organized by Princess Cruises. Port transfer and shore experience operators will be subject to new policies and procedures to reflect the latest approved guidance in line with our on-board protocols, and will comply with all local guidance relating to social distancing and face masks.

I wish they would require a vaccine to board any passenger ships.  That way you don't have to worry about outbreaks on the ship and you don't have to see someone wearing a don't tread on me speedo.  Win win.

We always cruise Royal. but was looking at Carnival and saw they have grande suites and there are perks included.  But I can't find what those perks are?  Does anybody know?  And if they are, how do they stack up to Royal's?   Royal is a good bit more $$ for the suite, but we know what perks are offered and love them. That's why we're in a suite on the  Allure in February.   I always had the impression Carnival was like the  Walmart of the cruise industry, but the whole suites & perks thing got my attention.  Any input folks?

Sunrises and Sunsets. 7 days of not having to cook or clean anything.

Having just spent a week in San Diego, It isn't just folks from certain areas who don't want to wear masks, no one does. People are sick of it. I strolled down the ocean front walk several times as I was staying steps away from it and had an expansive view of it from the condo, maybe 5% tops on any given day wearing a mask. Same with sidewalks or general strolling outdoors. This is a crowded area and yet I felt perfectly safe because it's outdoors and everyone was pretty much keeping it moving (common sense). That said, It wasn't required to have a mask while walking outside or eating/drinking (obviously) so to many it may look like a FL situation (or insert any other area that is considered "don't tread on me"). Everywhere else though, entering a establishment/store etc, masks were worn nearly 100%. If someone where to base their opinion on only one aspect of compliance, while ignoring the nearly 100% compliance with sensible protocols, it would be easy to see how conclusions may be drawn that aren't entirely accurate.

I am drawing my conclusion from walking into gas stations in rural communities while I am traveling.  I am lucky enough to live in an area that people for the most part have been compliant with wearing masks indoors.  I have never once in all my comments on these boards said I wanted people to wear masks outdoors.

Well, you can go hide in your bubble and not come in contact with anyone. The rest of us will take proper precautions and live life.

If you are actually taking the proper precautions then I don't think anyone is talking to you.  Many of us that have had strong opinions about the pandemic know full and well that everyone had to handle it differently.  The only problem I have had is with the people that have not only treated it as if it was no problem at all.  Many took it a step further like you are doing in this post and tried to make fun of people "living in a bubble" because they are handling it differently.

You keep blaming "the don't tread on me" crowd. I might agree at the beginning (first month or so) people were reluctant to do those things but now I don't see it at all. Exactly what hospitals are full of Covid patients? You just like to blame one group of people.

We have been out to eat (weekly), to casinos, shopping and everyone (with very few exceptions) was keeping distance, wearing masks, etc. We went to Foxwoods casino in Connecticut a couple weekends ago and it was a zoo over the weekend. But people were all wearing masks, using hand sanitizer, etc. Didn't feel unsafe at all.

You are lucky to live in a place where everyone is complying with the protocols.  I can see how you would not have a realistic perspective of what is going on because you haven't had first hand experience with the don't tread on me crowd during the pandemic.  Consider yourself lucky.

Common sense would be to social distance, wear a mask, wash your hands, etc. Not shut down the economy.

The don't tread on me crowd refused to do all of the things you listed which is what filled up the hospitals.  We wouldn't have had to shut down things for so long if they had just done the things in your list, but that would supposedly take away their freedom.
