  1. My husband and said rugby player, neither of which is overweight, prefer to eat more protein. Neither eats dessert nor unnecessary carbs so they wanted to skip dessert and maybe have one app and 2 proteins (main entrees). My annoyance with Royal is the language used during purchase is ambiguous and ever-changing. In the end because we were in a suite the host allowed us to bring non suite guests when it wasn't busy and we ended up eating there 3 or the nights we has paid for unlimited dining. I wanted ro give those who dont have that option a heads up. I find the comments in this thread regarding the amount or type of food someone wants to consume petty and judgemental. The suite concierge escalated my complaint to corporate as he said we should not have been asked to pay $10 for an extra entree. We never eat in the buffet at all. We've seen too many unsanitary practices by fellow Cruisers that use their finger to wipe food off of a spoon, take food and then put it back, or touch things they don't intend to put on their plate. I especially love when people lick their fingers and then use the tongs other people are going to use. So no we will not stuff ourselves silly in the buffet but rather just ask for something we pay for to have a clear set of rules when we pay for it.

  3. Rib eye is no longer on Jamie's menu. They have removed several items including olives. Sounds petty but I am an olive lover and was disappointed they removed them from an Italian menu. I didn't take a picture but I can tell you the menu doe everyone was new that week per our server at Jamie's. Enjoyed the Chefs Table they gave us as compensation though.
  4. We always buy our wine once we arrive. On Harmony now and bought 6 bottles (we have 3 cabins) at Total Wine in Orlando. Prices are good. If you pack them you risk the luggage delay of the naughty room because when they scan your luggage the bottles could be hard liquor rather than wine which they won't allow. Once on board we usually buy my DH a nice bottle of duty free exclusive scotch or whiskey and that gets wrapped in dirty clothes from the cruise and put in the center of the suitcase. I bury it now after Kona coffee beans mysteriously disappeared from my suitcase in transit years ago. If they want my husband's Johnny Walker they have to go through the undies 😂
  5. In sitting at Vintages last night and talking to our bartenders, we asked about the onboard price of $82 plus gratuity per day for the Deluxe Drink Package. They were even surprised by it and it looks like it went up sharply with this cruise. With the menu changes in Jamie's, increased drink package price and $10 extra entree charge I think a lot of new policies were instituted this week on Harmony. Looks like the Royal is definitely instituting policies to increase revenue pretty quickly. I can't confirm what's happening on other ships.
  6. Us too. I've actually only eaten in the dining room on Oasis class ships one sailing. It's been specialty the last 5 cruises. That ended with this sailing. I'm a Diamond Plus with over 200 points but now it's time for me to look at other vacations. If I'm away from RCCL long enough maybe I'll forget the things they used to include! The changes are coming a little fast and furious for my taste.
  7. Just went to lunch at Chops. Apparently the word has spread. Dan the manager in Chops apologized to me and again offered the galley tour. I again declined. He came back to the table later and offered all 5 of us Chefs Table for our last night. I accepted because my adult kids have never done it and it's not something I would pay for. I appreciated the gesture. I think going forward the website will be changed to reflect the $10 charge. It looks like word came to the ship via corporate and the website hasn't been changed yet. Just be aware if you are buying the package for a future cruise.
  8. I usually print out the "rules" when I purchase unlimited dining and forgot to this time. My mistake. On the Allure in May they tried to tell me I couldn't eat at Izumi Hibachi with unlimited and I pulled out a copy of the fine print and showed it to the host who was making my restaurant reservations for me the first day. She picked up the phone, called Izumi and I kid you not whispered, "she has the paper" 😂😂 then she said, "you're all set" and we ate there that night. They tried to upcharge to get shrimp and chicken and my 23 year old daughter looked the waiter right in the eye and said, "No, we aren't paying that" They backed down and did not charge her. It just shouldn't be a fight. That's not something I want to do on my vacation. I think I'm going to go down to guest services now and mention the multiple entree thing and suggest they change the name to "All access dining" as "unlimited" is false advertising!
  9. Okay I just went to guest relations and spoke to Lloyd who identified himself as the specialty restaurant manager. We argued back and forth and he said the policy is $10 additional per entree. I opened my browser and showed him the policy and let him know that live now on their own website was the "enjoy multiple entrees" verbiage. He offered me a free galley and brunch and I said no. We would like some credit for just my husband and I since we could have eaten at CK every night and we cancelled a second visit for everyone to both CP150 and Chops. I told him I spent $875 and would like some kind of credit on just 2 of the 5 packages. He said, "he will call me later". I think it's bad business to use bait and switch and refuse to accommodate passengers in any way for things like this. We are having a great cruise and I don't regret the trip at all, but with 3 cabins, bungalow, on board liquor purchaes etc. I definitely won't be booking a future cruise. At some point everyone has their limit to what they will put up with.

  11. I reserved a Cococay Bungalow on South Beach and received the notice it was moved to Chill Island a couple weeks prior to sailing. Be aware the newest map circulating is still not current with regard to Bungalow numbers. Our suite concierge showed me a photo taken by drone with new numbers and explained there was no new printed map yet. I asked for a front row bungalow once on board and received one. I was told by the shore excursion desk that they are assigned based on the order on which they are purchased. My biggest takeaway from the day is you really don't need one. Especially if you are the only ship docked that day. There were plenty of chairs and umbrellas, and spots everywhere on the island. Because we wanted to try out several areas we actually didn't use it that much. There is just too much stuff to do and you will have to get your own food (and sometimes drinks) anyway. We ended up finishing the day at Captain Jacks listening to guitarist Jimmy Blakemore (love him) who used to perform in the pub on the Allure. I regret getting one because honestly we didn't even need it. My college age kids found a spot on the beach and had better drink service and a prettier spot than us. The bungalow and cabana area is just too crowded since they moved them all together so save your money for something else and enjoy everything the island has to offer!
  12. Currently on Harmony and even though we are in a Grand Suite and have Coastal Kitchen access I purchased the unlimited dining package for everyone in our family (5 total). We were on the Allure in May and found it to be a good value in terms of food and service and I wanted us all to dine together since 3 in the party would not have Coastal Kitchen access. In both Chops and CP150 we were told when we were handed our menus that we could only have one entree unless we wanted to pay $10 additional. The 2 men in our party were not happy. The entrees are not all that large and our daughters boyfriend is a college rugby player with a healthy appetite. The ladies in the party ended up sharing their entrees so the guys had enough to eat. We were also told in Jamie's on the first day that the dry aged rib eye had been removed that week and going forward it would be short ribs. Something already served in CP150. Several other menu changes were made but I can't recall them all. That one sticks out because again, the guys wanted a steak. The service in CP150 was terrible. We did not even receive bread after waiting at the table 35 minutes and our waiter was interrupted by the host who kept pressing tickets for other seated tables in his hand. You could tell he was overwhelmed and distracted. This has never been our experience in the last 8 to 10 times we have dined in CP150 and usually the service is the best. Honestly I would rather see them increase the price and keep better/multiple entrees than make it close to a main dining experience and charge for it. Next time I'll splurge for a suite and eat at CK every night or just go back to the main dining room.
  13. I think they do throttle suites. My daughter paid for hers and it's faster. I can't even stream my Ring doorbell feed 😂
  14. Yes the $82 was before gratuity. We are enjoying the wine we brought on board. I also brought a bottle of mint simple syrup and I get rum and sprite with a lime during diamond happy hour and add my mint simple syrup for a mojito 😁 I also brought a six pack of pineapple juice and a few coconut rum minis because they will not include coconut rum in happy hour. I have done most of my drinking on the beach in San Juan and St. Marteen. My husband has bought a couple of drinks on board but nothing to justify a package.
  15. We are in San Juan today and wanted to give a heads up that even though we are Diamond Plus and get a 30% discount,, the drink package is $82 a day and all adults in cabin still have to buy it. Some cruisers reported that once on board only 1 had to buy. We were prepared for $65 a day but not $82. We opted out and were glad we brought 6 bottles of wine. We have 3 cabins and one of us is a solo traveler so we have bought some drinks but will still come out with a much smaller booze bill by not buying. Also voom is a joke. You can't stream. Have had problems everyday and the app is useless. None of my dining times ever showed up in it. Glad we are in a suite and did not pay extra for it.
  16. Just got my unsuccessful bid notice for our sailing tomorrow. We are in a Grand Suite and bid on an owners and 2 bed aquatheater. Paid $3,600.00 for our grand suite. Just wanted to give complete "picture" of what we paid and what we bid. Not disappointed, just thought I would give it a try. I called Royal 2 weeks ago and they told me suites were completely sold out and waitlisted so I knew it was a long shot . Very excited for my cruise tomorrow!
  17. Do you know if they had a white party this week? I usually see it once I'm on board and have nothing white to wear...trying to pass along the info for the young twenty-somethings in the group. We sail this Sunday the 11th, frantically packing now....Your review is great!
  18. Also wanted to mention that we received our suite concierge email today for our Harmony August 11 sailing next Sunday in Sky Class and no mention was made of any free alcohol until the evening hour. Wondering if they are doing away with the free beer, wine and champagne that used to start at 11am?
  19. Free wine on Allure in May was not good and I'm not even picky. It was disappointing. There are many inexpensive good tasting wine. One of the red wines tasted like straight up vinegar. I started drinking mimosas at 11am and that was palatable.
  20. I am loyal to royal but truly even basic questions are difficult for Crown and Anchor to answer at all. It's much worse since they outsourced call center jobs to Jamaica and Guatemala.
  21. We leave August 11th. I called Crown and Anchor but they had no information about cabana changes. They couldn't even tell me when the formal nights are on my cruise so I'm not surprised. I find them less and less helpful of late. These boards are way more helpful!
  22. Just got a letter from Royal informing me that the cabana/bungalow I booked last month is being moved along with all the others and daybeds to Chill Island from South Beach. Has anyone been recently? Just wondering if this will make it very crowded and wondering how many rows of cabanas will be in one area. Any info would be appreciated. 23. Just saw the addition of 52 new cabins planned for Oasis in which they take away the Diamond Lounge on decks 11 and 12 (no Wonderland either) and move it to the comedy club area on deck 3. Wow, they are reducing the lounge size dramatically and taking away all windows. Yes, I get that free drinks are loaded on your card for happy hour but it was a nice benefit to just get away from the crowds and enjoy sitting with a a cappuccino and looking at the boardwalk and aqua theater. I also enjoyed a few bites of cheese with my pre dinner drink since I really prefer not to drink on an empty stomach and there are no free bar nibbles if you use your drink credit at the bar . I am a diamond plus and each time a new money making change is revealed I "suck it up" and stay "loyal to royal" but damn, they are making it really difficult. Congrats loyal cruisers. Enjoy your crammed windowless lounge on deck 3!
