  1. Okay, I was wrong. Hubby got me a refundable OBC. There was nowhere that it said it would be 6 weeks to receive unused OBC. On Carnival they cut you a check for any unused OBC. It is 7 weeks tomorrow no refund. He got me this as a surprise. Had a pedicure but that's all, also could not use it in the Casino. Just trying to give a heads up :(

Did you try to use it in the casino, unless something changed, you could cash any unused out for a 3% fee.

  2. The only benefits you would get in the H3 VS the H4 is three bottles of booze and unlimited sodas and water for the cruise. You can buy bottles and bring a case of soda in the H4 and you are right in the Haven. The H3 is a long way out, it's nice to be able to look out your front door to see if the hot tub is empty and your kid has a private bedroom w/bath room, no brainer.

  3. The OP didn't state they were in the Haven but did state they were on the Jewel, so with the process of elimination they are in an aft penthouse with a balcony next door. Also nowhere is it written that minors automatically receive full suite benefits if it's a connecting cabin and it's not a connecting cabin as it is an aft penthouse. It is also totally up to the discretion of the onboard concierge, the pre cruise concierge desk can't authorize it and they are totally worthless. So yes OP, talk to the concierge as soon as you board and a fifty is a nice gesture.

  4. Just so you understand, the butlers work directly under the concierge. Also your minor children are located in a balcony next to yours, you should go over this with your concierge when you board, after you hand them a fifty I'm pretty sure they will extend the suite privileges to the kids, even though it's not written policy that's the scenario you want. Also let the butler know and tell him you'll take care of him the last night and it shouldn't be a problem.

  5. I noted in a recent review (May 29-June 5) that I tried to make arrangements for my son (who is a principle lead in MDQ on the Getaway) to join us in the Haven dining room for dinner one night. I was told by the Haven concierge and the CD that the latest rule from corporate was that no one but Haven guests were allowed to eat in the Haven dining room. The one exception to this rule was the Captain and he/she could only eat in the dining room on port days. The last night of the cruise, we brought all four male leads in MDQ into the Haven lounge to show them around and buy them a drink. It was fairly late. The lounge was not crowded and the Haven guests that were in there were enjoying chatting with the cast. One of the bartenders reported us to someone and the company manager called my son who is the stage captain. The company manager was confused as to why this was a problem, but rather than make a fuss, we all left. So no, no one but Haven guests are to be in the Haven according to my experience.

You asked the concierge and CD if they could dine with you and you were told a flat out NO but you snuck them in to wine with you and they were caught and told to leave. Does your son still have a job? Shame on you, you knew better and so did he.

  6. So, given my expressed preference above, do people think I should try to ore-order as indicated above, or just order 6 bottles of whatever is most expensive and then trade on board. Also, who is the person to best undertake this "trade" on board: the butler or the concierge?

Since what you want is not on the list you will need to take it up with the onboard concierge. So leave the list blank.

  7. Out of all the forums I post on, this is the only one where one has a pretty high chance of being criticized for posting about the topic the forum ostensibly exists to discuss. It's a pretty interesting phenomenon. Especially when people have to go out of their way to deliberately misunderstand questions in order to get their little "why are you bothering to post about it here" stabs in.

    You guys are extraordinarily weird.

What's really weird is someone comes here to complain when they could easily stick their head out in the hallway to find and talk to their steward about what you would like and expect.[emoji57]

  8. We haven't used them but we know two of their guides, Toto and Alex. They'll show you a good time, bring a bandana and cheap sunglasses so you don't suck in all the dust and get it in your eyes. Try to get the one that takes you to the Natural Pool/Conchi, you'll have a blast.

  9. Has anyone ever had problems at customs turning in a pre-filled out customs form from online?

Are you talking about Aruba customs? You would only need an immigration form if you flew in, you need nothing by cruise ship as they file all the paper work.
