  1. I always tell people we feel at home when we climb the gangway towards the hull entrance and smell that particular scent. Once thru the entrance and past security check in desk we smell again another odor either on Deck 2 or 3 and know we ARE home once again on board the Queen Mary 2...

Only 25 days till we share that experience with a friend accompanying us for the first time sailing  on her.

I don’t know what the air service is from Vancouver B.C. to London, but I can’t imagine disembarking in Vancouver, traveling to Seattle, and then flying to London in one day. There are 2 BA flights out of Seattle to London each day. I don’t think you get to London early enough to get to Southampton for boarding. @MylesS We’ll see you onboard the Independence Day cruise!

Yes, M318 is sold out except the lower cabins. From Britannia Balcony to Grand Duplex SOLD OUT. The only open is on M318A the TA from SOU to NYC connected to the 4th of July Sailing with very little if any available.

At one time M318 was removed from the schedule totally. Some may have cancelled and grabbed them up.

  3. Lamb Gyros

Lucky to have a lot of Mid East and Greeks in the area.

Humus, Shepard's Salad, Tzatziki Sauce (prefer my own)

    BaBa Ganoush, etc......etc.......etc......etc......

Some spouses like going to Cunard voyages to dress up and dance while his/her spouse rebels against all that. We’ve seen that in various posts here.

Luckily DW and I agree on the dress code.

It's all Twinings, across the ship, but they do have a variety. I seem to recall English Breakfast, Everyday, and Darjeeling (or Assam?) bags on my last TA in November.

We agree Twinings around the ship.  If we needed replacing,  we would even pickup what we wish from the Kings Court for our cabin's supply.

But we're happy with what was on board without having to bring anything on board.

I am a 65 year old unmarried man heading towards a premature retirement and have never cruised before.

My bucket list trip would be a trans-Atlantic trip on the Queen Mary 2. I know there are 15 or so solo cabins on the QM2, but I cannot find any information on them -- for example, prices. I suspect solo cabins sell out early, but when does Cunard lists its sailings? How does one get into the line to sign up for a solo cabin?

Failing to get a solo cabin, I would like to know if Cunard ever reduces its single supplement penalty?

Thanking everyone in advance for their help and patience

Welcome to Cruise Critics and to the Cunard Line Board......

We will be staying in Elizabeth and would like to leave our vehicle there. Will it be possible to Uber from there to the port in Brooklyn or is it too far away?

Don't think so, but just consider traffic and construction delays in your travels.

It's definitely the QM2. But it's probably deck 5, which, for a sheltered balcony, is always the deck I request. There's no chance of being over a theater or restaurant or under the promenade or restaurant.

While going through some old memorabilia I discovered we'd had the same cabin on deck 5, almost 10 years apart.

Ha.....I was looking at the paint at the window. If white or black? I think Deck 4 is black maybe.

Yes, know about the people who don't like Deck 6 because of the Promenade Deck walkers especially in the morning. Also joggers. Good Point!

We like to go thru and keep a listing of the cabins in case we want to repeat one on Booking.

    Thank You!

PS...maybe you look a bit like Captain Warwick........

This gives you an idea of why you can't see the water when sitting on a sheltered balcony. This was in December. While you may not be able to see the water, it's at least sheltered sufficiently that it's actually comfortable. I'm not sure I'd have been sitting on a 'regular' balcony at that time of year.

Favorite at home is well-crisped corned beef hash (preferably homemade) with two over-easy fried eggs and coffee or strong English tea with milk.

Favorite on board is whole-grain bread with cream cheese, smoked salmon and capers, tea, and fruit.

WOW..... just had it this morning at home and homemade....

    Can't get enough Smoke Salmon.....

I do think that sometimes a single review may not reflect what always happens on a regular basis. There are always risks that supplies may vary in quality over time.  We were on QV around the start of this month, and I must freely admit that the food quality in Britannia Dining Room was excellent, and way better than it was last year on the same ship. The steak, venison and duck entrees were superb, both in the quality and tenderness of the meat, as well as how they were cooked, and pretty much faultless.  Equally some of the desserts and starters were excellent would have been highly regarded at some of the best fine dining establishments on land. So perhaps the post above on the reduced quality of food was an unlucky couple of weeks on a particular voyage. One evening my favourite dessert - lemon souffle - was perfect with the exquisite spearing of the top with a knife by our waiter, and the pouring in of the lemon sauce to gently 'lift' the light and fluffy and warm interior ready to gently slide the spoon in and enjoy eating it was about as good as a dessert can be.  So for that voyage the food was wonderful.

Hopefully there are more voyages with a corresponding passenger dinner experience as we had and that voyages where it was bad are a minority.

    Ditto.....

We were on in Sept/Oct 2022 PG QM2 and were extremely happy with our 14 days sailing to the NE/CAN.

I was surprised with the Silent Disco being considered by Cunard on any of their ships. I saw it on TV. Passengers on board in the Disco bouncing around, bobbing up and down etc... with no visible music is weird. I hope there was music for others without phones.

We did have several small disappointments but no way did it disturb any part of our trip. Some issues with meat and chicken - corrected. Missing my Darjeeling Tea - just use other types.

But there was so many Flambe Tables in use, at one point there was a traffic jam. And no problem with the Cheese Trolley with about 8-9 choices available with accompaniments. And special requests were accepted with a smile all the time.

ballroom-cruiser ditto with you.........I carefully read individual reviews for ship as well as land base and see what to read it and what maybe behind it.

In 33 days I am expecting the same service as we have had in the past and Looking Forward to boarding her once again.

BTW... I must state to be fair, we have not had the opportunity to experience the QV or QE and sailed across the pond that may make a difference.
