Cabo Rojo, Dominican Republic - new Royal port stop
orville99 replied to DrProfessor's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Did a Google Earth search of the port - there is literally nothing there. No town, no infrastructure, just a pier sticking out from a desert and an artificially created port venue (think Costa Maya before they built up the port area). Definitely a stay on the ship day for usđ -
None of the RCL phone numbers work
orville99 replied to orville99's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Finally cracked the code to get through to a real person - ask for "technical help" - the automated system will connect you with a live person (a clueless one, but at least one with a pulse). I had to convince her that I was simply trying to get to the D+/Pinnacle desk and that the 526-9723 number she kept telling me to use no longer worked.đ When she finally connected me directly to the C&A desk, the nice woman on the phone told me that they know the phone system is broken and that they are trying to get it fixed. 3 hours just to confirm that we had added gratuities to two April 2025 cruises.đ± -

When???? and more importantly, HOW??? -

Yep, and the automated system has no option to actually get to a live person, let alone someone on the C&A desk. What's your secret handshake that gets you through to someone with a pulse? -
I have been trying for the last hour to contact the C&A desk, and all I get is an automated response that can't find the C&A desk. #9 doesn't work, no way to get to an operator. Am I alone or is their system broken again.

Change in times Suite/Pinnacle lounge open at night

Whatâs digested has to go somewhere, and your body has no immediate use for it, so it is very likely stored as fat while the body burns simpler sugars and carbs. -

"Individuals without a gluten intolerance, wheat allergy, or celiac disease have a gluten transit time of up to 4 hours in the stomach, 6 hours in the small intestine, and 59 hours in the colon. Therefore, it takes 2-3 days for your system to eliminate gluten entirely." - VeryWell Health Every time you eat another gluten-laden meal, you restart the clock - not a myth, a medical reality - unless one is in denial. YMMV, but I have never felt better in my lifeđ BTW, we just fry with Olive Oil whenever we want fried food. Just had Asiago breaded fried Tilapia GF tacos last nightđ -

Given the quality of what they have been serving lately in the Suite lounge, even horses ovaries would be a step up from their "hors d'oeuveres" đŽđ± -

Pure myth - it is gluten that your body doesn't need, can't process, and can't eliminate. I eat twice what I used to eat before I switched, and still walk the same 2-3 miles a day and swim the same half mile a day as I did before I switched, so the only variable that the weight loss can be attributed to is removal of gluten, which the body stores as useless fat. -
Are these locations consistent on all edge class ships?

GF - Gluten free. She takes meds that gluten interferes with, so she started avoiding it as much as possible. Once we started converting our favorite recipes to GF, I really got into playing with ingredients and found that we could make almost anything GF with a little bit of tweaking. Pounds melted off of me, and once the meds worked as they should, she actually gained back the 10 that she lost before they got her meds correct. Love the Indian food on RCL, and they now even have GF focaccia in promenade cafe - almost as good as hers.đ -

DW hooked me on a GF diet, and I shed 35 pounds. Scale helps me make sure it stays off.đ -
RCL food has gone downhill fast
orville99 replied to Bullet100's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Absolutely! However, I would need to adjust the order a bit. We just got off of our fourth cruise on Adventure since February, and other than Izumi, the biggest gap is between the WJ (best by a mile), Specialty dining (more like fast casual land based restaurants than "upscale dining) in a distant second place, and WAAAAAAAY behind that, the "rubber chicken circuit" MDR offerings. YMMV -

DW and I just got off of a 2 week B2B on Adventure, and only gained about two pounds each. We just can't seem to gain weight on cruises any more. AA on the other hand....đ -

This is our first time on Cunard, and I canât make heads or tails out of their booking engine. Lots of questions, but no answers anywhere: What is a âshelteredâ balcony? What is it sheltered from? Does Cunard offer travel insurance or do I have to purchase it separately? Is final payment really due a week after the deposit? Can I book my flights and pre cruise hotel through Cunard (wonât fly in day of for any cruise, especially one out of NYC)? where do I find drink and internet packages/rates? I probably have more questions, but now I have a headache just getting this far.đ

Suite Room Service Gluten Free Ordering
orville99 replied to buc fan's topic in Royal Caribbean International
We always sail in GS, and DW has a gluten intolerance. MDR room service has yet to get her orders correct, spanning several cruises. We only risk the MDR room service perk when we know what she orders is always gluten free (Indian). -
Connect HDMI device to TV on Celebrity Eclipse
orville99 replied to italnsd's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Not sure this will help since the OP is currently on board, but we bought an inexpensive GE universal remote from Amazon that works with the on board tvs. Have used it on dozens of cruises with no hiccups to override the tvs default settings and access the hdmi ports. -
I have Equinox booked for next January to celebrate our 30th anniversary, and have not sailed on X in ages. DW wants to know how fancy she should pack. Iâm easy, have tux will travel, but she wants to really splash it up. Any suggestions?

Hideaway adult beach at COco Cay worth it?
orville99 replied to Minuet888's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Happy that you found it worth $20. What ships were in port? Agree that the food choices were seriously lacking for a paid venue. Had we been able to find seating by the pool we might have stayed, but the chair hogs beat us to them all. If they took out half of the beach chairs and umbrellas so you could actually enjoy a view, we might have stayed. Unfortunately they donât seem to think that way. For them itâs all about the Benjaminâs $$, not about their paying guests. -
Hideaway adult beach at COco Cay worth it?
orville99 replied to Minuet888's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Just a quick follow up. we were at hideaway bay yesterday. Got there at 9 AM and stayed all of an hour before we gave up and went to the main pool. No loungers anywhere around the pool, but the number of loungers with towels on them more than twice the total number of people in or around the pool. Then went over to the beach area by the food outlet. So many chairs and umbrellas that you couldnât even see the lagoon. Complete waste of time, but only wasted $26. Cancelled all our other reservations as soon as we got back on board. YMMV.
