  1. If you booked through the internet, be sure to check our TA's to see what additional perks they may offer to transfer the booking to them. I'm not a big fan of TA's as I do all my research and pick the cabin I want, but when I can get more for my money, why not. My TA gives additional OBC as well as an extra perk.

  2. Yes, you can use OBC in the casino. If you are playing the slots, they load the amount you request onto your sea pass card. You set up an acct. on the slots machines (easy to do, the instructions are printed on a card they give you, and attendants are available to help also). Then, you just choose to use the promotional money to play with and the amount you want to use. Winnings will be printed on a slip to present at the cashier, unused money stays in the slots to be used at a future time.

  3. Yes! From the X website:

    Classic Package

Throughout your cruise, choose from beers up to $6 per serving, spirits, cocktails, liqueurs and frozen drinks up to $8 per serving, and wine-by-the-glass up to $9 per serving. Plus, with purchase of this Classic Package, you can enjoy a 15% discount on all wines by the bottle purchased on board, even our prized Reserve Wine list and Rare Wine list.

  4. Yes, the A1 cabins are "better" and a higher price than the A2's, generally. Probably mostly just because of location. Depending on your status with Celebrity, you may qualify for an upgrade at no charge. We were able to book an A1 on our cruise on the Equinox next year for the price of the A2. Very happy, as we scored a cabin on the hump!

  5. Latest update: Jjust logged onto Celebrity and both us and our friends now have cabins (2a) so that's great news! Not heard directly yet from TA or Celebriry- so hope nothing changes!!

Thanks for all your support and encouragement we can finally start to look forward to the cruise now!

Glad to hear it!! Enjoy your cruise!

  6. I did it on my last cruise. Got OBC in multiples of $50 which was refundable. It was an easy way to get my money back. However, as I am starting to take fewer RCL cruises and booking other lines, the RCL is not a good one for me. As soon as I cash out what I have in the account, I probably will cancel.

I was able to cash in 60,000 pts. on my last cruise for $600. That was the end of my points available, then I switched to the Citibank card which gives 2% on all purchases as cash. The RCCL card only gave 1% unless it was for expenses related to a cruise. The cashback is accumulating a lot faster now!

  7. Welcome to the boards, you can learn a lot. There is a lot of information!

If you check the spreadsheet on the Celebrity website here it has reviews of both cabins. 1206 has the bed next to the balcony on the Equinox. There is no review of 9307 for the Equinox, but there is a listing for 9307 on the Reflection. I am not sure if it's exactly the same, but it shows the bed next to the balcony.

  8. We almost always sail in September or October to the Caribbean. Very rarely have we had a problem with hurricanes. Once a hurricane hit Bermuda right after we left, and another time we missed Freeport due to damage by a storm a week or so earlier. It sounds like you have a great deal. We are doing the same cruise in October.

  9. SHIP: Celebrity Summit

    CABIN #: 9111

    DECK #: 9

    CLASS/CATEGORY: Sky Suite

LOCATION/AREA: Midship, second cabin from the elevators

QUIET?: Rarely heard anything, occ. scraping of a chair. Could hear music from deck party faintly when on the balcony

BALCONY/PORTHOLE VIEW: Great, able to fore and aft

BALCONY/PORTHOLE SIZE: 50% larger than a standard balcony

    WIND A PROBLEM?: No

    SOOT A PROBLEM?: No

PROBLEMS/COMMENTS: The internet connection was good, but the speed was fairly typical of a satellite connection. I was able to get on quickly and read e-mails, surf, etc. However I was unable to stream videos as they kept buffering too long.

The one thing I did not care for was that the bed faced toward the balcony and the TV. I had to close the curtain if I wanted to watch TV or take a nap during the daytime.

Very convenient location to the stairs and elevators. Just had to go up one flight to the Ocean View Cafe and the pool.

I would not hesitate to book this cabin again if I am lucky enough to get a good price on a suite. Being able to eat in Luminae and hang out at Michael's Club made it all the more special.

  10. I booked my own cruises direct online for quite a few years, but then I found a TA who gives extra perks as well as OBC. I do all the research online, find exactly what I want, and either book online and then transfer or book with the TA direct. I keep up with prices and several times have upgraded to better cabins or gotten reduced prices. There are definitely TA's who are good.

  11. Sure do hope this can be straightened out. The mistake made was not by you, but by the TA and/or cruise line. We had a problem booking cabins for a honeymoon cruise for our son. He was getting married on the ship so we were cruising also. When we added an extra person at the last minute they changed our cabins all around. It made it harder to be happy when we were not in the original cabins we had specifically picked.

  12. Hate to burst your bubbles, but I AVOID the hand sanitizer (soap & water is best). It's logic...you force your body to not recognize germs and the outcome will be your immune system will become weaker in defending off germs. Outcome...you will get sick faster and easier and more often. I also avoid railings, door handles, people looking or sounding ill. And I have NEVER gotten sick. It's the time of year you travel. There is a "sick "season, Oct-Mid March. Also, I avoid leaving my house 2 weeks before a cruise. I don't visit the Dr office at this time either (sick ppl handling everything). If I need to do an errand, I wash my hand with soap and water as soon as I get home.

My DH was in the navy for 15 yrs, on a small confined (under deck, no windows) ship for weeks on end... and he never got sick either.

I am with you! Soap and water is far superior to the hand sanitizer. I also avoid touching railings, etc. and have not gotten sick either. The hand sanitizer is far over-rated.
