  1. Sailing from Baltimore is very easy. One other note is that it takes about 8 hours from the time you leave the dock to sail down the Chesapeake Bay until you get to the Bridge Tunnel. Once you have passed the Bridge Tunnel you will be at the Atlantic Ocean. So, usually it is around 12:30 AM or so from the time you leave Baltimore until you hit the open seas. The first day and a half are cold, but then you hit the Gulf stream and it will warm up.

  2. I guess we were lucky! Just got off the Constellation yesterday and was able to cash out $250 in the casino in nonrefundable credit. They made sure to tell us there was a 5% charge which I already knew and we did play at least half in the casino. I wish Celebrity would do like Carnival and allow us to pull money directly from our card to the machine. After playing, we cash out, but wish we had more winnings than losses!!

  3. After three weeks, the Manage My Cruise on the Celebrity website is working. When I logged in, it showed me as 100% complete, but my husband as only 90%. The only thing missing was to print the Express Pass. I am just glad I didn't get the dreaded "We are unable to process your request at this time, check back in 20 min." message.

  4. We only tip $1/bag. If you look around, there are actually signs that say tipping is NOT necessary. The guys that take your bags and move them about 5 feet over to cages are longshoremen, not cruise line employees. They are VERY well paid, so the tip is merely a courtesy.

  5. I have a plate and 7 screws in my right ankle and a replacement knee on the left side. When we went on the Quantum last November, I was wanded, patted down, etc., etc. I told them I had the surgeries, but they still weren't taking any chances. We fly in 2 weeks, so I can only wonder how much they will put me through there!

  6. No matter which Carnival ship you are on, the Lido deck is where you will find the buffet. Each ship calls the buffet by a different name (i.e. Rosie's Restaurant on the Valor, Mermaid's Grill on the Pride, Red Sail Restaurant on the Glory, etc.), whereas RCCL always calls their buffet the Windjammer.

  7. Yep, been having the same problems for the last 4 days. I am booked in with a Concierge Gty and just like to see if my cabin gets changed. I will have to try the above suggestion about not logging in first. Since I booked through a TA, Celebrity will not talk to me.

  8. The price of the cabin you want to upgrade to must be $1 or more than current reservation.

If it was, and they said, no, call back and try again. But if the GTY was the exact same (or less) than existing, then no, they won't allow changes.

I already upgraded from my 2C cabin I had booked to the Concierge Gty a week or so ago. It was the exact same price as the 2C. When the Aqua Gty came up, I was hoping to upgrade again. I could do the A2 for $100 more, (non Gty) but didn't feel it was worth that for a short cruise.

  9. When I looked on the site yesterday, it showed 42 cabins available in the AQ2 category. I was hoping to be able to upgrade my cabin, as the AQ Gty was listed at the same price I paid for a Concierge. Since it is 36 days until sailing, this was a "special" price for new bookings only and I couldn't do it per my TA. Oh well, nothing ventured, nothing gained!

  10. The draw back to the Citi program is they require you do a balance transfer with a 4% fee! and carry a balance at 12-14% APR to get the 1% on payments. The net result is less.

Apparently this is not the case. I can't comment on the 4% balance transfer fee as I never do that. I never carry a balance so never have any APR. When I got this card I questioned the 1% on payments and was assured it was correct. On checking my current statement, I got the 1% on charges plus the 1% on payment. No fees, no interest and the 2% total as promised.

  11. If you do get double pts, I need to call, because I didnt.

You should have received the double points. I explicitly asked that when I booked our Celebrity cruises with the RCCL card and was assured that I would.

As an aside, I just stopped using my BOfA card with RCCL because it only gives me double pts. when booking a cruise on RCCL or Celebrity. Otherwise, it is only one pt. per dollar. After much thought and research, I switched to a Citi card which gives double pts. all the time on everything. Well, it is 1% when buying something and 1% when paying, but still adds up to 2% overall. We are retired with everything paid off, so we don't worry about our credit rating anymore.

  12. Question: if we want to use 15,000 Royal pts for $150 off cruise price, do we do that before or at the time of final payment..?

..we have final payment due later this month, have tons of OBC but would love the dollars off

You can go ahead and do it now to help pay off the cruise, you will just need to enter your sailing information when you redeem it.
