  1. Don’t know. Hopefully it’s just as a precaution
  2. I’m being called in. USCG is inspecting the repair work. If hot welding is needed, departure will be delayed another 24 hours.
  3. Good news indeed. SFPD would have been called in for traffic control if there had been a need for disembarkation. So far, I have not received any word on having to go in. So it looks like once USCG clears the ship, you’ll be on your way. Happy sailing!
  4. The photos show the damaged dock bumper located on the outer part of pier 27. So if you view the YouTube video from Marine Traffic Past Track posted by Outerdog, at the 10 second mark the left rear of the ship collides with the pier. After the collision, the ship gets pushed back out by the tugs, and that’s why you see that “abnormal maneuver.”
  5. Info being relayed to SFPD is that they are aiming for a 7pm departure. No further details..
  6. I caught Claudio outside Guest Services as soon as we boarded, and he took care of our issue right away. Of course it helped that I recognized him from our previous cruises.
  7. Yes. Since Ruby is the "SF-homeported" ship doing the full turns, she gets priority at the newer pier. When the Ruby leaves for Ft Lauderdale and the Crown is homeported here, she will get priority at Pier 27.
  8. I believe that cabin is comparable to the inside cabin that we had on the Royal Princess. Because of how it is configured, it offers a few extra square feet of space because the door opens into the middle of the cabin as opposed to opening to the "end" of the cabin, if that makes sense. We had no issues with the cabin. It was quite comfortable.
  9. Actually now that I slept on it, it's to avoid confusion. The cruise line is saying, "we are departing Tuesday NIGHT at midnight, not Wednesday night at midnight." The best way to avoid confusion is to put 11:59pm on the night of departure.
  10. You're very kind. Hope to see you again or even sail with you some day.
  11. Of course it could still be wrong. Afterall, it's still showing the Emerald getting in at midnight even though all of us know arrival time is at 8:00.
  12. It has since been updated in March as well as today 2023.pdf (sfport.com)
  13. Both of the Alaska sailings for the Miracle in May will be out of Pier 27
  14. It's an easy 5 minute walk from Pier 35. I have asked to work both of your port days. I'll let you know when the boss posts the assignments; I usually post on your roll call pages.
  15. That is not correct. Emerald is scheduled to use Pier 35
  16. If you're asking why specifically it's 11:59pm, then I agree with LynnSD. It's to avoid confusion over noon or midnight. Some of our STREET CLEANING signs are like that too.
  17. Also take into account if you are embarking on a double ship day. But an 8am arrival should be ok. You will probably be arriving at the terminal around 9:30-10.
  18. When we disembarked in January, I just saw one customs officer. It was the terminal Princess employees who guided us through the “look at the screen. {{match}}. Ok you’re good. Next.” Last week there were at least three or four customs officers, but they were just looking at us coming off the gangway. It was, once again, the terminal Princess employees guiding us through the process. In fact, the lady right outside the gangway kept telling everyone, “Nope. You don’t need bring out your passport.”
  19. Yep. That’s later in the day. A few cruises ago, there were two long lines. One to drop off luggage, and then another one to get inside the terminal. Luckily US Customs is streamlined now. Just look into a camera on an iPad screen, and if your face matches, you’re good to go. Less than 2 seconds.
  20. Wow $70! That meter must have been really ticking while sitting in traffic. That sucks.
  21. Since we booked last minute, the only choice we had was Allegro at 6:40. We were in line at guest relations and saw Claudio. Went up to him and asked if we could switch to Concerto. He said the only open times were 5:00 and 7:30. No problem. We took 5:00. Then went to the dining room for lunch and saw Sergio. Told him we wanted Alvin and Roel again. He said no problem. Didn’t even take down our cabin number. Went to dinner that night and got the same table as before.
  22. Claudio is the Director of Restaurant Operations. I prefer saying maitre d’
