I can not believe it. I bought a pair of jeans online from M&S for collection from my local store. The jeans were late because of some online IT problems. This morning I received an email thanking me for returning the jeans and saying they would refund my credit card. Arrgh! I have immediately re-ordered. This could be interesting 🙄

I ordered a top for collection for my daughters birthday from mands. Had a text to say it was delayed by up to 48hrs. Left it the 2 days hadn't heard anything so phoned my local store they said it was showing up either lost or damaged, so they ordered me another one. Had an e-mail to say I wouldn't be charged. Few days later I had another e-mail saying thank you for your return we will process a refund.🤣

I have claimed from All Clear for my aunt and they required the original invoice as proof she was actually on that cruise.  It was very quick once I'd supplied all her documents.

They must know we were on that cruise because the letter P and O gave us stated both our names (we were given one each) and said which port was missed.

  3. We returned from iona on 30 march. Phoned our insurance (all-clear). They asked us for the letter we were given and some other details. Sent them off, have now had an e-mail requesting invoice from our tour operator stating how much we paid for this cruise. We are only claiming for missed port which states quite clearly we have. Are they just trying to get out of paying us, which wouldn't be much. Has anyone else had this problem.

We are with Barclays for annual insurance and they excluded my husband's cancer initially. However, after one year they would cover this and with no increase in the premium, just the regular travel pack price.

When I first had breast cancer in 2013 they wouldn't cover me for 2 yrs after that I was covered again. When it came back in 2022  in my bones they didn't want to know. Same with my husband when he was diagnosed with multiple myeloma 3 months after me in 2022.

  5. When we had travel insurance with our bank - barclays - they wouldn't cover us for our cancer. Aviva are their underwriters. We were thinking about changing our bank as our local branch has closed and were looking at nationwide. When we heard aviva would be their underwriters we didn't bother. We are now with all-clear. £1800 for the both of us for 12 months. Only includes europe but it was cheaper than keep paying individually.

I am just catching up on posts for the last week, we are on Princess and I have to say that it is not only P&O where things have changed and not for the better.   The behaviour of some people leaves a lot to be desired, smart casual now means that it is OK wear a bikini top and shorts to dinner in the main restaurants and to let your children throw food at each other.  We got out of a lift this morning when we saw a family of 4 push past a lady in a wheel chair and her partner to get in to the lift.  We have said that we will not be sailing on Princess again after our next cruise which we have unfortunately already paid for so would lose over £5000. Carnival's current push to price low in order attract a rowdy heavy drinking sort of passenger is not for us.

Reminds me of a man who was waiting for the lift with alot of us on disembarkation day. Lift furthest away from him came first. He went at speed in front of us, there was a young girl in a wheelchair on her own just getting ready to get in the lift when he skirted round her and jumped in the lift. I despair sometimes with some people fortunately not all. He looked to be in his thirties and how quickly he moved could have used the stairs as he had no luggage.

We were also on this cruise and agree with some of your comments. We thought the food quality was reasonably good, but the choice was limited for for non veggies, which is probably 90% of passengers.

Disembarkation was poor, not helped by the 90 minute delay in arrival time, I have given my views on this elsewhere.

We did not experience your problems with finding a seat, possibly helped because my wife sits in her wheelchair, but the reluctance of most people to share with others leaves lots of empty single chairs.

Despite the poor weather we really enjoyed the cruise, and met many interesting dinner companions.

Yes we met some very nice table mates which was a good job as I think I might have cried if there had been some awkward ones. Can't complain about the company just some of the food.

Sorry to hear about your experience on Iona, we were on Arvia following you I believe. I have to say our experience was completely different, could always find somewhere to sit and the food was good.

It was busy in the lifts on disembarkation day but that’s always the case on any ship. As a disabled passenger I was expecting problems but it was a very smooth procedure and straight to our coach for journey to Manchester

    Michelle

They got the coach passengers off 1st after self disembarkation. We left just after 10 and departed car park at 12. Thats how bad it was. Finally managed to find luggage up the far wall, hubby tried to get through queue with trolley asked politely if he could come through the gentleman (and I use that term loosely) said no. My hubby said I only want to collect my luggage not jump the queue so he reluctantly let him though. Should have seen hubbies face he was flabbergasted🤣

Sorry to hear that. I know from experience that Iona can be choc-a-block during school holidays so that probably meant that your cruise too was crowded. However it didn’t put me off as I quite liked Iona and our next cruise is on her, but during term time!

Wasn't in the school holidays got back day before easter, departed 16 march. There were children onboard but only about 400.

  10. Got back from Iona on saturday. Never again. Food hit and miss. Couldn't get a seat anywhere, spent most of our fortnight in our cabin. Disembarkation absolute chaos. When we were going down the ramps to collect our luggage I looked over the side was like a cattle market. Took us an hour to find our luggage (and we kept to our timed disembarkation). Alot of people were not happy when we got our keys for the car we both said the experience had put us off cruising. I never thought we would say that. If we do cruise again it will be with another line. Have sailed various lines over the years, mostly cunard, and never had this problem. It seems p&o want to pack as many in as possible and then forget about them once you have paid your money.

  11. Thank you all for your replies. Will see how we feel on the morning of our cruise but will probably stay there and buy a few teas and coffees and set out about 1.30. I know its not far but by the time we have queued to get on ocean terminal car park don't think we will be far off from 2.30.

  12. We are due on Iona in march. We are staying at the holiday inn express night before. Check out time to room is 11.00 am. Can we stay downstairs when we check out until our boarding time which is 14.30, or do we have to leave and park up somewhere in southampton.

  13. We are on this cruise also and were wondering the same thing. Schools around here in the midlands break up the 22nd march but I know a lot of schools in other areas are a week later. When we went on QM2 last yr at the end of school holidays grandson kept wanting to go in the kids club. So I would say it will probably be the same. Its not like royal caribbean where there are a lot of things for the kids to do without going in the kids club.

  14. When I was on cruise personaliser I noticed on the mdr page it said no booking required. Does that mean we can just turn up or does it mean you don't prebook. Must admit I thought it was the former. Don't want to be bothered with a phone as we usually lock them in the safe.

DH had a medication review at the surgery yesterday and while he was there he asked if they had received the results from  his skin biopsy, the nurse checked for him and said it hadn't arrived yet.  While he was there I had checked on his NHS account and found that the consultant had put a note on saying that treatment will start in March.

It looks like the surgery records are not up to date because when we looked on his records on the surgery website there was definitely nothing there about his biopsy result.

I naively thought that updating the hospital information would automatically update the surgery information.  Surely a joined up NHS system would be an obvious time saver and helpful for patients.

I thought that as well. I had a phone call from my doctors as bit of a problem with my blood test. He mentioned the tablets I was on from the surgery. Didn't know anything about treatment I had from the hospital. I have my hormone tablets from the drs but my targeted therapy drug and bone strengthening injection at the hospital. They had no record of them. Told him my low white blood cells were low because of my treatment. You couldn't make it up.🤣

Thank you, but they've doubled up on his Omeprazole. He's had those iron tablets before, but not  such a high strength. The only problem it causes him is constipation.

I get that with my treatment. I use dulcoease as is a softener rather than a laxative so kinder on the stomach. I am glad he is back home and all is well.

We’re going to Canaries on Iona 16th March. Madiera is easy to do on your own, take the cable car up to the Botanical gardens or just wander around the town. There is usually a shuttle bus to take you into the town.

Lanzarote we have booked for the Sunday market as Arrecife isn’t our cup of tea.
We tend to have a good look on Google maps to see what is in the area and then decide on excursions.

we are also on this cruise. Will do some homework and decide. Don't want to do a lot of trips as we usually like to do our own thing and wander about.

  18. We are going on iona in march to the canary islands. Having never been before I am wondering if they are easy to do on your own or ship trips on some. Did think about doing toboggan in Madeira but then reality checked in, with my secondary breast cancer in spine and my husbands multiple myeloma (he cracked a bone in his spine about 19 months ago) thought maybe not🤣. Any other suggestions would be appreciated not just madeira.

Ive just got back from the hospital' Frank was admitted yesterday morning at 5.20am and it's been hectic. After tests he has Pneumonia, and severe anemia.which needed 2 tranfusions. To top it off he probably has a heart murmer too, he's having a heart xray  to see what it is or could be.

In his 78 years it's the first time he's been in hospital and everything's come at once. Almost 59 years married and the first time we've not not slept in the same bed, it's really strange and I'm not sleeping. Sorry for the late post, but I needed to chat.

I'll try and read though the posts tomorrow.

Oh no sending love and hugs

@delgirl ...are you sure the Cunard $75 is just a shuttle? maybe is a tour?

will look the details up but generally Cunard has free shuttles, so maybe that price is for more than just taking you there?

I know @Lanky Lad is A LOT more experienced in Cunard knowledge than us, we just did our first Cunard sailing last September, and, though I am conscious Cunard's tours are quite expensive, think is a bit too much for just a shuttle, considering they have free shuttles in so many of their itineraries.....

Yes it is more like a tour, but just going to xmas market and coming back. Free time in bruges is $57 for half day and $67 for full day. This price is per person. We usually do  ships tours but thought we would be brave and try the shuttle bus from zeebrugge to bruges as is only £22 each. A big difference.

  21. Have heard from lost property in southampton. They cannot find my daughters jewellery. I am annoyed with her for leaving it and also annoyed with room steward or lost property as some-one obviously has these earrings. If they do all I can say is had you heard of karma.
