  1. We were on Allure 2 years ago this week and had a CP view balcony. We loved it because it was very quiet and scenic with soft instrumental music to listen to from the balcony at night. We will be on Allure again next week and this time we have a BW view balcony, so in a couple of weeks I will have a comparison opinion. :)

I posted some photos below from our CP balcony:

Another advantage - being able to check the line at Central Park before heading down!

Thanks for these greats pictures of CP... (they also helped me find my balcony room)

Sailing again on the Harmony in August and opted for the first time in all my cruises to NOT take an Oceanview Balcony and have a CP balcony. Now after reading this I'm worried that I'm going to be very warm since we cruise in August!!

Can't wait to hear what you think comparsion wise when you get back - Enjoy and Cheers!

  2. yes, can confirm that at least one of the cantilevered hot tubs is open 24 hours... from our last Harmony cruise last May!!!

...depends on the winds/sea conditions on which side is open.

Also had family a few years ago on either the Oasis or Allure in the same HC room you are inquiring about, and noise was not an issue in the HC room. and the room was quite large.

  3. Since I know I was on the Harmony this past May, and while it was warm then, I wonder if cruising in August on the Harmony just means it's warm - which is a concern, since we're going on a family cruise next August!!

Sorry you encountered what has to be the prefect example of a rude passenger. I'm sure since it was hot on the cruise, and the lack of pools and lounger ratio is on a low side, this added to the obnoxiousness of these "guests", but glad you made the most of your vacation!

Yes, the best internet at sea!!! Definitely getting that and the drink package again!!!

  4. Was just on Harmony a few weeks ago... Formal night is however you want to make it!! I saw it all - from formal gowns to polo shirts and wrinkled slacks on men.

Specialty Restaurants. as mentioned, go with smart casual attire all week.

I was able to get my husband pretty dressed up for the whole week, basically because I mentioned I wanted nice photos for memories.

Harmony is wonderful... have a great trip!

  5. I'm a picky eater and loved Wonderland - very innovative but also delicious. Anything that I didn't like my husband surely ate. Yes, while it might not be for everyone, it is quite an experience. I was very full after we ate there last week, and said before going that if I was hungry after I would hit the Windjammer, but had no need to!!!

Other great meals included Chops and 150 Central Park - avoid the red-sauce risotto at Jamie's! (but the fresh pappadelle was divine!!)

  6. Nightlight for the bathroom, so you don't have to turn the light on at night. A couple of strong magnets for hanginging things to the wall. Highlighter, post it notes, Lysol wipes, Lysol mini spray.

I totally agree with previous posters about their lists.

Oh and don't forget to pack a great attitude, so that no one, or nothing small, ruins your cruise.

    Happy sailing!

No reason to bring a night light - there is an automatic night light built into the bathroom, when the lights are off! (kinda bright if you ask the person who needs complete darkness to sleep!)

Sunscreen is a MUST - baby wipes, agree with Downy wrinkle release spray - don't bring the iron, they will take it! Ziplocs are overlooked and underrated - comfy shoes, post it notes for all things, magnets to hang stuff/pictures/reminders on walls.

Overall - best week I had this past month was spent on Harmony!!!! Enjoy her, she's a beauty!!!

  7. Ok, I'm going to re-phrase the question......

I'm going on the Harmony this coming weekend and wondering the same, since I know our SeaPasses will be in our cabin and have the drink package - So the question really is - How do I use my alcohol drink package to get a bar drink before cabins open up at 1pm??

    TIA!:)

  8. Andrea,

She is doing well! She had an x-ray today and they do not think the cancer has spread, which means we will most likely still get a few years with her! Which, as I mentioned, was expected anyway since she's 12 and a half and cats normally live to about 15 or 16! I was so happy at the news. The x-rays will go to a radiologist tomorrow for confirmation, so keeping our fingers crossed! If the cancer had spread there would likely be no treatment option, so we would have no choice but to just let her live the rest of her life (not knowing how long that would be), and watch her health and unfortunately, put her to sleep when necessary. But now we think it'll be treatable, so that's wonderful news. I'll keep you all posted.

Thank you so much for checking up on my kitty, it really means a lot to have such caring people like you on here! Thanks for following along!

    Kevin,

HOORAY!!!! So happy to hear the positive news about Patches!!! Purr-fect!!!!

.....and just another thank you for helping me pass my work days away while daydreaming of my Harmony cruise in 10 days!!!!

    Continue the awesome work!!!

  9. Cruising on Harmony in 2 short weeks and this time we are flying in the day before and I have to say - My stress level is completely different this cruise compared to past Oasis/Allure cruises where we DID fly in the day of the cruise... WAY too stressful to fly in DAY OF!!! I don't think I will ever fly in the day of the cruise again!!

.....and while, yes, it is an added expense to fly in the day before - it also does start your vacation earlier!! :D

  10. You're doing great Kevin with this trip report...

I'm following... as a Cat mom and a cruiser going on Harmony in 2 short weeks who can't contain her excitement!!! (and I've been on the Oasis and Allure and still CAN'T WAIT!!!!)

Question - how was the noise level on Deck10??( happens to be the same deck we're staying...) Oceanview Balcony.

(side note, I have my fingers crossed for you about the kitty x-ray on monday!!!)

  11. I have still but seen any NHL games playing. Hubby says they are only showing stuff on ESPN 1 & 2 Caribbean so if the games are not playing on those stations you will likely not be seeing the games...

Thanks for the update Canadian Disney Mom!!! Appreciate the feedback.. :D

My guess is if my team goes any further in the NHL playoffs that I won't be seeing much hockey while cruising the Caribbean in 2 short weeks. ESPN (USA) doesn't have much coverage of hockey to begin with, and one can assume that a sport played on ice isn't too popular in the Caribbean. NBC Sports has the coverage for the NHL Playoffs.

Luckily, I have the internet/drink package and well I guess I'll be using that to get the scores!!

Thanks again and enjoy the rest of your cruise.... Looks like you're have a great time!! Make sure you get to cross Dazzles off your list, it's a great spot for people watching!!!

...some people AMAZE me at what they do to get around the drink package!!! :o

  12. Morning Canadian Disney Mom....

Thanks for such a great live review!!! Miss the Allure, was on her when she was brand-new!!

We're sailing on the Harmony in just 2 short weeks, and just looked at your Cruise Compasses, but I don't see a listing for NHL playoffs onboard anywhere??? Can you please let me know if ON-Air or the Irish/English Pub is playing any of the hockey playoff games???

Thanks in Advance and please enjoy the rest of your vacation!!!

  13. What's so hard about grabbing a few items on a plate, grabbing another plate to cover it and then walking down to your room. We mainly do this early in the morning to have a little nosh with our coffee... since of course, I will go get the coffee, while hubby goes and gets some snacks.... Come back, sit on our balcony and start the day off the right way on a cruise... RELAXING.

Like another post mentioned, if I was worried about getting germs, I wouldn't be on a cruise to begin with!!

  14. A few cruises ago, I had a fabulous roll call for the Allure and one of the members created a list of all the bars on board - While it was not a bar crawl per se, it was a list that we all tried our best to conquer and whoever at the end of the week had the most stops won, I think a t-shirt.

Suggestion would be to compile a new list, (the list I just found still had the Crown and Anchor lounge on top deck) and start from deck 17 and work your way down. While you might not start on Deck 17, you can work your way around that list for the cruise.

I know I plan on making a new list for my upcoming Harmony cruise.

    Happy Sailing!!
